The Nyets would be an awfully tough out for us in the playoffs. They are very, very long.

Think about it. Starting line up heights:

6'5"
6'10"
6'8"
7'0"
7'1"

Next three off the bench:

7'0"
6'11"
6'3"

I'm not in the slightest bit worried about the Nets. We typically match up very well with big, slow teams. It's why we handle Chicago and the LA Clippers. It's the quick teams with good stretch-fours that give us fits. The game two nights ago was a pure fluke. Last night's game was more in line with norms. We beat them on the road by 9.

Meh, here are the standing reaches of their starting lineup:

PG Jack - 8'-4"
SG Bogdanovic - 8'-8"
SF Johnson - 8'-9"
PF Garnett - not listed, but really long, probably 9'-3" or so.
C Plumlee - 9'-0"

And our starting lineup:
PG Wall - 8'-6"
SG Beal - 8'-5"
SF Pierce - not listed, but probably about as long as Johnson
PF Nene - 9'-1"
C Gortat - 9'-2"

I see no real advantage for Brooklyn except for Lopez and his 9'-5" standing reach off the bench matching up against Seraphin (who is 6-9 with a 7-1 wingspan but no standing reach measurement). By the way, Wall is listed at 8'-5.5" and Beal at 8'-4" but I gave them both a small boost based on reports of them each growing an inch in their rookie seasons. I was conservative though. In reality, their standing reaches may be a bit taller

Better effort this game. I especially liked the way Beal was going after rebounds.

Execution wasn't that good though. Too many unforced turnovers in the first half. Bench scoring helped.

Some of the guys looked pretty gased though. 4 games in 5 nights is rough.

That game was painful to watch but I'm proud of the team for getting it done. FT shooting was inexcusable though. That game wouldn't have been close if we were passable from the line.

We had a little more left in the tank at the end than Brooklyn did and that's what made the difference in execution down the stretch. Their well of bad shot making eventually went dry and they stopped scoring. But for a while there, we just couldn't guard them and that was a little stressful. Each of our guys were getting scored on by their position.

I though John's defense was really poor. Just showed a lack of focus and intensity and that set the table for Jarrett Jack to go off on us two nights in a row.

A positive take away is it's good that we can win a game where John and Pierce play very poorly and Nene gives us a mixed bag. Nene was pretty solid on defense but he turned it over a lot and couldn't make FTs. Beal played well. Seraphin and Humphries played well. Butler got us a handful of big baskets.

And though Gortat gave us some WTF moments and struggled catching some entry passes, he played well. It's hard to keep Brook Lopez off the offensive glass, the guy is just enormous. Gortat did an excellent job keeping a body on him and aggressively going after the ball and squeezing the air out of it once he got his hands on it. You HAVE to be that aggressive and proactive when Lopez can easily go over the back of anyone without actually fouling them, even when the defensive player establishes good inside position. Gortat did a really good job guarding him in the second half too.

Really a gutsy win for us- we were down 7 with Joe Johnson posting up Wall in the 3rd quarter of our 4th game in 5 nights, and if they scored there we might well have been down double digits and about to roll over and die. But Wall helped get a stop on that play, and that's when we went on our run to take over the game.

Good games for Nene and Beal- was glad to see Beal show some shiftiness on the dribble to get himself open looks, and a bit more confidence in his shot. I almost said "swagger" but Gilbert Arenas has set the bar for that word pretty high.

Hopefully we get some rest and take the Sixers seriously tomorrow- they beat the Nets on the road 10 days ago, and could easily embarrass us if we play like Friday.
