Alec Brown, a former Winona Senior High School and UW-Green Bay standout who was picked in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft, said Tuesday night he plans to start his professional basketball career sometime in mid-February.

Brown, watching his former team play at the Lewiston Auto/Warrior Club Holiday Tournament, will spend the next six weeks in Charlotte, N.C., continuing to rehab from shoulder surgery, then he said he’ll join the Bakersfield Jam, an NBA Developmental League team affiliated with the Phoenix Suns, the team that made him the 50th overall pick in last June’s draft.

Brown, 22, dislocated his left shoulder — the same one that gave him problems during his senior season at Green Bay — while diving for a loose ball in the Suns’ final NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas in July, then had surgery shortly thereafter. The record-setting shot blocker at Green Bay and accurate 3-point shooter had a pre-draft offer to play in Spain, but the contract had a clause that allowed him to pursue an NBA opportunity first.

The NBA D-League regular season ends in early April. The championship series is held later that month. Bakersfield is second in the West Division with an 11-7 record.

So we still have his rights, even though he isn't playing overseas, right? So he couldn't be called up by anyone except us, or if we trade his rights to someone.

Don't get me wrong, I want Plumlee traded BAD but if you really think about it, we have it good with him knowing the offense and only making a mil and some change.

I think what happens - Suns trade Plumlee for future 2nd rounder and sign Earl Barron.

We are not trading Plumlee to make way for Baron. Baron has had numerous opportunities and has proven he is not an NBA player.

I can see the Cavs giving up a lottery protected pick for Plumlee. They need another body at center to back up Mozgov. They are all in for this year and are not looking at young players for the future right now.

We're trading Plumlee because he sucks.

We can trade him for a late first round pick and have an empty spot on the roster. If we need later some big, we can call Barron or sign some veteran FA.

Time to unleash the Barron!

Haha just kidding, but he would be fine as a 15th man/ 3rd string C behind Len and Wright.

Plumlee is a ready made backup, surely he has worth to someone.

Plumlee for Telekovic? Or would he be just another Tolliver/ Randolph/ Marcus?

We don't need more depth. We have to trade him for a future pick or attach him to Green orIsaiah and get a good player that would be in the rotation.

Maybe as a starter. He is more than a decent backup big.

This is exactly the plan I would think. Its just not about this year but its also about getting your "cap space" ready for the summer of 2015.

Plumlee is still an asset. He may have stone hands but he plays productive minutes, is legit 7 feet, and athletic. You don't trade those away while still on a rookie deal for a season and a half for a 2nd rounder.

We must have another deal in the makes.... and it does not include the Plum. No way we are just dumping him

I'd do it. Doubt the Dubs would.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Here is the reality. Plumlee may not be the best but centers are at a premium. Centers are like gold right now even if they are not the best. A late first round is realistic for plumlee.

I mean look what mozgof (or however you spell his name) got the nuggets.

I think its obvious here. The FO is trying to clear space for Bargs when he is released.

How about Thomas/Plumlee for Teletovic/Jack?

Return to Phoenix Suns
