I have a feeling that talks are tabled until the trade deadline.
OKC now has more time to see if the current group can catch the 7th or 8th spot. If it's still too tight as the deadline approaches, I can see OKC throwing in PJ3 to get it done.
If BKN is doing a salary dump, the FO probably wants to try to get as many wins before the deadline before getting prospects that definitely will take time to build up.
I'm really hoping that's the only reason why things didn't happen.
Then they are delusional.
We arent getting wins either way.
Joe Johnson is running on fumes. This season is over.
Get Lamb and Jones and call it a day. The Hawks will have a lottery pick when its all said and done. Getting two young prospects eases that blow.

I agree but if it's true that ownership wants to maintain what we have because they want to try to win, I don't know what else needs to be done to convince them that group cannot win.

I can't wait till ownership sells.
"Sunk costs should not be considered when making the decision to continue investing in an ongoing project, since you cannot recover the cost. However, many managers continue investing in projects because of the sheer size of the amounts already invested in the past. They do not want to "lose the investment" by curtailing a project that is proving to not be profitable, so they continue pouring more cash into it. Rationally, they should consider earlier investments to be sunk costs, and therefore exclude them from consideration when deciding whether to continue with further investments."

Doesn't that sound a lot like what we've been doing? I thought Prok was a smarter business man than he is.

Of course it wouldn't be a Billy King approved move, b/c it would make sense for us.

The 10% chance that it works is worth the risk in my opinion. Lance doesn't need to be Linsanity. It just needs to work. He's from Brooklyn and on an affordable short term deal. Joe Johnson would really benefit from the extra help.
OKC get Lopez
Hornets get Perkins, Lamb
Nets get Lance, PJ3, Hornets 2nd

Lance may be worth the risk or he'll be the final nail in the coffin.
I can understand if King has done his due diligence and he discovered behavior from Lance that would be disastrous. I'd still try to swing a deal with OKC directly.

Cannot believe Billy King. He has this team in a bad position and want make a deal to help the situation. Lopez could go down at anytime, but he want capitalize on him being healthy. If he waits for his perfect deal, Lopez could get hurt again and the Nets be stuck with him. Lance would be good for this team especially as a playmaker. Deron and JJ spotting up on the wings give him nice kickout options. Plumlee working pick and roll with Lance would be dynamic. Also getting Perkins as a backup this year and then expires. It's a good return. Can you imagine the toughness with Garnett, Perkins, and Lance

I dont think it's a 10% chance, closer to 70% IMO.
Do the Nets have some kind of magical chemistry that we would be interrupting? NO
Is the biggest issue every night getting beat by SGs? YES
Can anyone on the team get to the rim and finish on dribble penetration? NO
Can the Nets use more rebounding help? YES
Do the Nets need to lessen Joe Johnson's minutes? YES
Lance helps with all of this. The big worry is how will he handle playing in NY. Unless Im mistaken, the last time Lance played in Brooklyn he became the all time leading in scoring in NYC history.

We really need to take a chance on Lance. I wonder if JJ would benefit from having a playmaker like Lance the same way Paul George did?
And damn, if Deron comes back and plays at the level he has been this season and just facilitates and keeps the tempo up, I would be much happier.
I don't get our stupid ass GM.

JJ needs help.
DWill's biggest value this year is that he was shooting well, 38.9% 3pt.
Jack has been great filling in at PG but he has to have the ball to be effective. When he passes the ball the Johnson he isnt a threat anymore because he cant hit from 3pt this season.
Besides Jack, all of our Euro's have been worthless from downtown. This is allowing teams to double JJ with impunity.
Lance might not help with that aspect but he definitely will help with defending the perimeter. Beal nearly had a triple double last night. Getting burnt by SGs has been an ongoing problem this year because Bogs and Karasev arent ready to play meaningful minutes.
We need Lance

In all honesty, I can understand where he's coming from now. It's a toss up to me as well.
OKC offers cap space and assets. We would be able to use our full MLE, BAE and do sign and trades if we dump Brook for Perkins. We also get Lamb who's better than Bogs and Karasev. We might even be able to acquire Thaddeus Young in the deal.
Charlotte offers Lance who obviously would bring some athleticism, defense and be a crowd pleaser but it's a 50-50 gamble. He might have a Kyle Lowry type of turnaround here or be the new JR Smith.
Both deals have it's pros and cons. It annoys me ownership is only thinking about Lance coming home and not thinking about the best possible deal.

This is something that I'm OK with, especially regarding the deal from OKC.
Lamb + Perkins is already settled. This must mean that we were asking for PJ3, Reggie Jackson, or a 1st/2nd rd pick in addition to the aforementioned package and OKC declined for now.
We need OKC to struggle and/or Lopez to play well so OKC feels compelled to add more.
I know it's definitely not certain but IF it's true that we can re-route Perkins for you're talking about Lamb, Thad Young, and PJ3/R.Jackson/1st for Lopez. That would be an extremely good hall just for Lopez who could opt out at season's end.
IMO, the potential reward of a huge haul which could compensate for all of our traded picks is worth holding on to Lopez for now.

Re: OKC frontrunners to land Lopez for Perkins/Lamb; Nets in talks For Thad Young (UPDATE: Page 15 - TRADE ON HOLD)
It's hilarious that Billy King of all people is the one holding the Lance Stephenson trade back. This is the problem with our ownership situation now. They're trying to sell and probably don't care enough to force his hand.
If Lance is on the table, we HAVE to make that gamble. Lance is young, fits our need like a glove and was a borderline all star. We don't have the magical chemistry of a team like OKC or SAS but we do have vets that would keep a guy like Lance somewhat in line. KG would be huge for him.
Settling for Lamb and Thad Young would be awful.

He doesnt fit the Billy King ideal player profile. He's too athletic. He's too competitive. He is too aggressive. He plays Defense.
Instead lets get Lamb who fits the DWill/Lopez profile. He underachieves. He doesnt play with full effort. He is a nice guy. SMH
I do like Thad on this team though. We need to fast break and pairing him with Plumlee would be hard for opposing front courts to match up with. Plus Thad is only 27.

Re: OKC frontrunners to land Lopez for Perkins/Lamb; Nets in talks For Thad Young (UPDATE: Page 15 - TRADE ON HOLD)
I think this is the most realistic win-win-win trade involving Lopez to OKC.
Brooklyn gets: Thaddeus Young, Jeremy Lamb.
Minny gets: Kendrick Perkins, Perry Jones.
OKC gets: Brook Lopez.
Nets get to dump Lopez and gets two young prospects.
Minny gets an expiring, ships out an overpaid Young and gets a young cheap prospect.
OKC gets Lopez.

The hesitancy has nothing to do with skill or talent. It has everything to do with his character issues and putting him in the NY spotlight. If he didn't have such a poor reputation in Charlotte, we would have him in a Nets jersey by now.
I would like to see Lance here but his character flaws are a legitimate issue and the OKC deal provides less baggage.
