Creative Testic but I don't see any reason why POR trades Batum the way they are playing. You don't rock the boat when you're rolling.

Tucker/Morris/Warren
Jefferson/MkMorris
Len/Wright

I would do it. Imagine AJ being able to teach Len some of his moves in the post. Plus, we were able to utilize Shaq when he was here, I'm sure we would be just fine with Jefferson.
EXACTLY!
Im glad someone gets it! We were at out "7 seconds or less" prime when were brought on Shaq. We are nowhere near that speed anymore, and i have a feeling that McD is trying to set us up to take us away from that style of play. Hell, just watching the games, there are plenty of times where we walk it up the court on a made basket. Sure we rank 2nd in fast break points, but that doesnt mean that the whole team is on the offensive side of the floor when we score, usually its just 1 or 2 guys, and thats off a broken play or a steal.
Len is great on defense, but his offensive (Post) game is lacking. Most of his points come from put backs from rebounds or someone like Bledsoe drawing the defenders away so Len has an open dunk, so if he could pick up just a few moves from Jefferson that would be great. It would also help sharpen up his defense if he was forced to bang against Jefferson everyday in practice. When it comes to big men coaches, we have always lacked a real good one, and i believe that has been a reason why none of our C's ever really work out great.
We also really wouldnt be giving up that much for Jefferson either. Thomas is the biggest piece, and im sure that if Dragic/Bledsoe could rekindle what they had together last season at the expense of Thomas a lot of people would be ecstatic. I honestly dont believe that trading IT elsewhere will net us anything great in return anyways. We would also ship out Green/Plumlee. Is that a big loss to us? Nope.
Next season Jefferson becomes a huge expiring contract, and im sure we could move it for assets if thing didnt end up working out between the two of us.
McDonough just 3 days ago said that he wants the Suns to play even faster...
Al Jefferson is strictly a center (you know, the same position this Alex Len guy plays for the Suns). To incorporate him in the rotation the Suns would have to bench Len and completely overhaul their system on both ends of the court. You don't do this kind of moves mid-season when you are playing you best basketball of the season. Especially if you have to trade BOTH Green and Thomas. Ennis and Goodwin are nowhere near ready to play meaningful minutes on a playoff team. And BTW, Big Al is currently injured and his contract is expiring this summer (player option). It's just an awful idea all around.

Interested to know where you got that feeling from.
I agree we don't always run up the court, but the whole Suns defense is based on forcing a turnover or missed basket so they can sprint forward (and then u always see those situations where Kieff wants to play quarterback and the other team gets a steal back..
The stat "FG% is higher in the first few seconds of the clock" is based on catching a defense unaware, and that doesn't happen when the opponent team scored a bucket. So it is in these situations that we switch to slow-mo and walk up the court to try a set play.

@AlexKennedyNBA: The Phoenix Suns are "actively shopping" Miles Plumlee. He started 79 games last year, but he's now expendable: http://t.co/FnqVWjUqxx

We ship out Randolph, replacing him with yet another wing, bringing our Big total down to 4 (Keiff/Len/Wright/Plumlee). Now we are actively shopping Plumlee, which would then bring us down to 3 bigs.
Im wondering if we have our eye on someone bigger to fill in that role.
With Traxxe's post about keeping Bledsoe/Tucker/Wright/Len and then the acquisition of Bullock, it shows me that the FO is trying to turn us into a great defensive team.
So what defensive bigs are out there on the block?
I'm sure we have our eyes on a bigger piece, but I don't think that the Plumlee news is indicative of the "next step" in our plan...it just seems like Plumlee wants an opportunity to go somewhere where he can get minutes before his contract is up, which isn't an unreasonable request. McDonough will do what he can to accomodate that request(within reason); if he can't find suitable return, we'll keep Miles as our insurance big in case of foul trouble or (gasp) injury. He's a really nice piece to have as your 3rd C.

I'd offer them Plumlee for Thomas Robinson and their 1st rd pick.
Thomas Robinson has been a bust so far but he's also part of team FOE along with Markieff and Marcus. Just like we rescued Marcus from Houston, perhaps we could do the same thing with Robinson.
Robinson-Wright backup front court would have insane athleticism.
I think the Robinson boat has sailed. In multiple stops he hasn't shown any sign of turning into a competent NBA player. I like the story-line of reuniting Team FOE, but I'd rather have Plumlee at this point. Still, if PDX is willing to throw in a 1st, I guess you have to seriously consider it.

I don't understand a lot of the hate for Miles. He's not the starter we thought he was, but he's still a great 3rd big to have around. You don't get guys at his size who can jump the way he does. He's still in the upper half of the league as far as rim protection goes: http://nyloncalculus.com/stats/rim-protection/
If you think of him as hyper Lou Amundson instead of "Miles Plumlee, 2013-2014 surprise of the year", I think you'll have a much more accurate estimation of him as a player. Every team could use a guy like Miles. It's unfortunate that there's limited playing time for him with Wright's arrival, but McDonough isn't going to move the guy for peanuts. I guarantee our GM values Plumbledore more highly than about 75% of this board.

I think another reason why Plumlee wants out is his best friend Shav Randolph was traded. Now he doesn't have a good friend on the team. First Frye, now Shav.
Ever notice Plumlee on the bench? never cheers for team on bench or stands up during key plays.

Re: Official Trade Thread: New Year, New Thread, New Laughs
Going off an idea from the trade board
Miles/Gerald
for
Barnes/Barbosa
Get a nice young piece who has improved every season in Barnes. He's only 22 and he's shooting 45% from 3 this year. He's perfect as a 3 or small 4. LB comes back for his 3rd stint in purple and orange so we have another scoring option on the bench:
Bledsoe/Thomas
Dragic/Barbosa
Tucker/Barnes
Morris/Morris
Len/Wright
You can add Barnes to our treasure chest: Len, Warren, Goodwin, Ennis, Bullock, Lakers pick, + our picks.
I don't like losing Miles and Gerald, but we're operating under the assumption that Miles wants out. I also have a feeling Gerald's going to get a really rich offer this summer...so this way we flip them into another piece with huge potential.

I like Plumlee as a third option, but I wouldn't mind moving him either. I would like to grab Sullenger somehow. Maybe IT, Plumlee, and a second rounder.

I like Plumlee a lot as a 3rd center
If we can get a 1st round pick for him though it's probably worth it.
If we can get more than a 1st round pick you do it for sure.
Plumlee is a good depth guy to have who can provide emergency backup big man minutes if Len/wRight get hurt.

The Plum is out of luck. Only a playoff team would consider giving any value for him... and then, they must be big man poor. That limits it to about 3-4 teams. Plumlee is a back up... period... and now he is a back up back up. Might be a take what you can get scenario if it goes on. I'd just keep him, unless McDo has another prospect lined up with a Green or IT deal. Tough nuts Plum, ride it out. We'd have to sign another big anyway. Maybe McDo has gotten wind the Nets are buying out KG....
Nice visit I Soc.... I understand why you dwell elsewhere
Noah/Len? I think its a relatively fair swap, that neither team does. Plus, replacing Tucker in the starting five stings a little too, believe it or not. He has muscled his way into 30 scrappy menacing minutes a night. I think Thibs would love a lunchpailer like him.

Exactly.
I do not understand how someone can go from playing a starting role as our C to the bench, then to play just barbage minutes after we signed Wright, and then we want to trade him les than two months later than playing as our starter C.
Trading Plumlee, unless is for someone who can play inside and is equally quick and a rim protector, but does not demand a lot of touches (barely none), is risky, as we already traded Randolph and then Len and Wright are the only ones that can play C. Len is healthy now, but has been down with injuries in the past. Wright is not a true C. If any of the two injures, then we have just one player that can play C, as the other inside players are the M&Ms and may be Tucker.
What do we want another pick for? We have Ennis, Goodwing, Warren and this new guy. We still have several picks for the coming years-
Unless we saw something with Plumlee we did not like, or we want to offer good Miles minutes elsewhere, I do not get it. He is a capable backup center with who we were really happy just a while ago, that has a limited salary and could be useful during the next weeks...

It all depends on if he is unhappy and a negative influence. Expecting a first round pick for him though is a little ridiculous. We had trouble finding a team willing to give us a first round pick for a very solid starting center in Gortat and only got a very late first rounder for Scola, who is a very solid backup.

Having plumlee is a luxury I would love the Suns to have. Plumlee should be gratefully for the opportunity the Suns gave him. He could be rotting away on the pacers bench never to be heard from again. But if he is irritaited about not playing than maybe it is just better for everyone to move him.
Again would rather keep him as depth at the 4/5. Since those positions are always the hardest to fill. And plumlee is a capable center when called upon.

I think asking for a first for Plumlee is quite a bit. I think if you can just find a way to not take on salary next season and possibly get a second rounder, that's a good deal at this point.
Plumlee is a pretty good back up but right now, Brandon Wright is better.
Isiah Thomas - that's the one I want to about - can the Suns move that conrtract

I agree getting rid of IT should be priorty number #1. But there are a few things working against the Suns about getting rid of him. 1) there is an over abundance of quality PGs in the league right now. 2) IT is not the ideal PG teams want. Being 5'9 and shoot first is not what most teams want.

I get why Plumlee would want a trade to a place where he can get mins. He's eligible for an extension after this year and will be a rfa the year after that; being already in his mid 20's this will probably be his only shot of getting a multi-year contract. He loses money by sitting on the bench. From the suns perspective they probably told his agent sure we'll trade him if you find us a deal for a 1st rounder. It keeps the player relatively happy but ultimately he probably just stays because I doubt they find a trade partner.

Shortly before July 1, Dragic will opt out of his $7.5 million player option with the Suns to become an unrestricted free agent. Then, Dragic will learn how much his third-team All-NBA honor, 2014 Most Improved Player award and crafty playmaking will attract on the open market, something he said will force him to make “the toughest decision in my life.” “I’m really happy here in Phoenix and they have given me everything I have ever dreamed,” Dragic said in an interview with Los Angeles Newspaper Group. “I feel like I’m at home here. But I’ll explore my options.” Los Angeles Daily News - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.B048BNpu.dpuf
