Cowboys tender Beasley

Post#1 » by Schmoopy1000 » Sat Jan 17, 2015 7:20 pm

ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer says the Cowboys do not want to lose restricted free agent WR Cole Beasley this offseason.
A second-round tender would almost ensure Beasley remains in Dallas next season, but it makes more sense for both sides to hash out a longer-term deal. Either way, Beasley will likely be back for another season as Tony Romo's slot receiver. Beasley had 37 targets in the Cowboys' final seven games of 2015, including 11 in the Cowboys' two playoff games

You mean Cowboys expected to tender Beasley. Can't do it yet.

I don't know. It was just a copy & paste that I found.
Just nice to see Beasley be appreciated :)

Beasley was obviously an asset for the Cowboys offense. He also wants to be a Cowboy. A deal will get done. It's just a matter of dollars now.

Love Beasely. Wondering what is going to happen with Gordon and Cleveland.

Well the Browns were able to justify a late season suspension, and due to the language in his contract, he should be back in Cleveland next season. I would assume they would trade him for a nice offer, but I don't see that offer coming.

I really don't want any player that is a gnats head away from a suspension. I agree IF he plays he's great but that a big IF. Besides WR is not a need for this team. Can we please stop talking about this dude.

Plus there can be a problem if you have two Alpha Males at WR.

If we could swear on thus board this post would be an epic rant. Forget that **** head.

I don't know what GB loses, but to me they are better than us. Maybe the grass is always greener somewhere else when I look at other teams. I'm for anything that will make our team stronger. Watching GB yesterday, Seattles pass rush did basically nothing. Their coverage however was amazing. Maybe having a guy like Sherman or Revis allows for that as well as Thomas at FS.

GB may very well be better but I do believe Dallas beats THAT Seahawks team without question. Dez would have a field day against a 1arm DB.

I think GB is the team you have to prepare to beat if you want to go to the Super Bowl. They lost 5 games this yr- 2 to Sea, Det, Buff, and at NO. I don't know what Rob Ryan did that night to stop them - but the other 3 teams they lost too have really good defenses- whether it's coverage or pass rush. I could be wrong but I don't think we can become a top 5 defense in one off season. I think you have to out score them and get better on defense. Yes if Murray don't fumble and Bailey hits his fg and Dez catch stands we likely win that game and out score them. We are two different teams though so like I said maybe I'm just giving them too much credit.

You can't just look at one side of the ball when grading teams. Dallas matches up fairly nicely against as both should almost always have great offensive output against each other. Yes GB may be better than Dallas but it's not like Dallas has no shot. Now against Seattle Dallas is a better match up than GB IMO.

We need defensive lineman and linebackers. Once we start dominating the line of schrimmage on the defensive side of the ball like we will with the O-line, we will become a nightmare for everyone.

Cowboys shouldn't neglect the secondary. If an option is available that will upgrade the unit, then management should seriously consider it. Great coverage guys can also help alleviate some of the pass rush problems as well.

Rather be dominating in the trenches. QB's had way too much times to throw against us most of the year. I'm fine with our secondary when healthy. Plus I never liked being held hostage by cornerbacks and wide receiver's when it comes to the cap. Cowboy's have never been to the super bowl without top notch defensive line and great production from the linebacker position. You guys would all hate me if I had the say in this upcoming draft. I use every pick on the defensive line and linebacker, unless we sign Suh.

No offense to the MANY that say it, but everytime I read someone saying we should get AP, Gordon or Manziel I think that they don't understand what has made this Cowboy team different from the other recent teams we have had and also that they don't understand what we need to do to get better. Lose Murray and sign AP? How does that help? Gordon? Seriously, Gordon or bring in the drama show that is Manziel? This team has gotten better by ignoring the flashy guys and signing real Football players. That would be a huge step backwards IMO

Exactly. We have talent and chemistry. I would not mess with that for all the whiskey in Ireland.
However, if we are going to risk it and bring someone over with baggage, it has to be a real game changer.

Like Suh. (not saying we can ..just as an example.)

Many act like MCClain is a saint. How did that work out for us?? Many were saying the same about him. I want MUrray. I have never wanted Manziel. I want to get better. We are not as good as the Packers IMO. Their 3rd WR is better than our 2 nd option in the passing game. Yes WItten is getting older. There are red flags on every team. I brought Gordon's name up because he may be available for cheap. I don't care who it is, but is WIlliams a big enough threat for a defense to worry about. Right now I think you can throw your second or third CB on him and he will catch 2 passes a game. Maybe it's lack of opportunities. If DEz were to get hurt, I'm not sure WIlliams numbers change much. That Blount guy didn't look too bad for the Pats the other day did he.

Like I said , I just brought up Gordon's name. I don't know his history very well. I just read that 5 teams would likely be interested- Raiders, 49ers, Colts, Pats, Eagles. Obviously he isn't in our plans.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

Did I say THANK YOU?

We need to worry about fixing what's broken. Not break things just so we have to fix it.
