tony was actually good last night...lets cut him a break for a day atleast
He wasn't good. Or close to being good. I'm not even going to get into the fact that he still can't make a simple entry pass. Beyond that he is a perfect example of a player that works hard, has the skills, and for the life of him cannot figure out how to apply those skills.
if its one thing Snell is good at its entry passes
when i say good im not saying he blew the roof off the place but he played better than he usually does...he knocked down his shots
that pass to blatt was horrible tho
*check my post history im far from a Snell supporter ive been saying hes garbage since last season
We are getting a little off topic but I love talking ball like this. To me on entry passes Snell willingly puts himself in no man's land. Flat footed, too far out, and takes every bit of imagination out of the play by not even looking at the rim or pump faking. A triple threat is a tried and true position for a reason.
Try this, don't watch Snell the next game, watch his defender. I think you'll find they don't pay much mind to Snell. I think they know Snell is going to declare his intentions early when he gets the ball and they know they will have time to recover. I also think this is why Snell is open a lot behind the arc and why he's best at just catching and shooting. I love when Snell doesn't hesitate. Doesn't give the defense a chance to get back after ignoring him...Happened last night on the Blatt pass...That was his play. He's got to at least be aware enough to know when it's his turn. He hasn't even gotten that far yet.
And again, Tony is skilled. You can see it in his handles, his stroke from deep. the way he stays low defensively. He knows how to do what the coaches have taught him to do along his basketball journey. But he has a real problem applying those skills to
the game . I know the Bulls have many problems beyond Snell (poor PG defense is one I've heard a lot on this board and it's so true!)but Snell has to be so awkward to play with. The hardest guys to play with are the guys you can't play off of...Like if I'm out there with Snell, I'm wondering what the F he is expecting me to do half the time. Just weird spacing on his drive and kicks, PnR passes to just general spots...Just weird things he does. The timing and reasoning of his basketball moves are lost on me. And I think they are lost on a lot of the Bulls as well. He's not a starter and the Bulls are putting themselves in a hole when they start him.
