Going to First BBall Game of My Life

Post#1 » by BallLikeYao » Tue Jan 20, 2015 3:32 pm

Hi guys I'm looking for some advice and tips @ pheonix stadium because this will be my first game ever. Are the cheapest tickets worth it? I'm a broke teen so my range stops at $80~. How much is parking? I'm looking to go to the Rox @ Suns game on the 23rd. Now my final question, and I hope I dont get mauled for this.. I'm a Rockets fan (got love for Suns hope they maintain 8th seed) would it be a bad idea to wear my Rockets gear? I'm not in the mood to get mugged if so.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you

I think stubhub is your best option. I doubt it sells out so you should be able to get good seats for that money.

I doubt you get in trouble for wearing rockets gear. I saw tons of Lakers jerseys yesterday. Phoenix doesn't have a very good crowd.

I wear my Saints gear when New Orleans visits Carolina.
I wore my Yankees gear when I saw them play the Mets at Shea.
I wear my Suns gear when they visit Charlotte.

Always support your team. If you get heckled you get heckled.

1) You must wear a Suns jersey for admittance to the game.

2) Cheering for the road team will get you removed from the game.

3) Enjoy.

If you know your way around Phoenix you could take the light rail. If not, parking downtown is probably around $15-20. Then after the game, it's like your worst nightmare in terms of traffic. Everyone in Arizona is a bandwagon fan so you'll most likely see a ton of Rockets fans who don't know anything past James Harden/Dwight Howard being on the team.

Phoenix isn't Oakland, no their not gonna care that much if you wear opposing team's apparel.

A ton of opposing fans show up during Suns homes games anyway.

I live in Mesa thanks for the parking info. Why is there not a lot of fans for suns in our own state? I could see why at someplace like Minessota but for a contender? Pretty shocking

Oh I don't live in Arizona anymore. I live in Oregon now (go Blazers, lol). I don't know why. I think a lot of people like to jump on the hot team. Because in a way, when that team is winning, they feel like they are winners themselves, but really it just masks how much of a loser in life they really are. But hey, at least their team is winning!
I always rooted for Arizona teams because I lived in Arizona most of my life. I am now living near Portland, and thankfully the Blazers are actually a fun team to watch so I'm becoming a fan. I will never be a Seahawks fan though, I can't support those types of players. My heart will always be for the Suns though.

Should be a great game to go to. I fly to the US (generally PHX) at least once a year to see the Suns play and I love it.

There's an undercover car park a few blocks north of the stadium that has cheap parking sometimes, I don't recall what it's called exactly but you should be able to google cheap PHX Suns arena parking and find it quite easy. Alternatively, light rail from Tempe might work for you too if you're coming from the east, I know there's a park and ride around Dorsey I think?

Stubhub is good if you are buying locally, keep an eye on it and try to jag something in the lower bowl (should be easy for $80). Last few times i've even gotten deals from the scalpers, they are everywhere and because the suns aren't overly popular right now there is always supply. Dont be afraid to walk away at least once, and haggle like crazy. Don't let them rip you off, pressure is on them to sell.

Try to avoid rows 15-30 in sections 108 and 120 though (baseline) as your view will be obstructed by the backboard. First few rows is ok, corners give a different perspective which I don't mind either. Sideline are the most expensive because you get a better perspective but it's pretty similar to watching on tv.

Lastly, if you're getting resale tickets, keep an eye out for if they are sixth man membership tickets (a lot of resale tickets are because they are from corporate/ season ticket holders) because if they are, you get early entry and get to go down courtside and watch warmups. You can usually get photos and autographs if you are early enough.
