Negativity on this board definitely did not start this season.

The negative aura that fill this board is because we've failed to meet our expectations of being better than last season's team despite having over $20 million in cap space, two 1st rounders with one being a lottery pick, and etc.

So far this season has been disappointing, but the silver lining is that we're not out of the playoff picture

this board was negative last year too

I was very optimistic last year outside of my disdain for Clifford's rotations. I was one of the few that predicted a playoff berth before the season started. This year I stated that I'd likely be pessimistic at the start of the season until Clifford changed a few things that happened to be corrected by injuries that were blessings in disguise. I honestly hoped on Jefferson getting injured just so it could show Clifford that we could be just as good with Biyombo on the floor instead of his usual spiting of less than 15 minutes per game to DNP-CD activity

when we sucked, we were a cheerful group. This fanbase is allergic to winning and it's probably good for our sanity if we just tank again

All joking aside, I doubt any of us wanna go through another single digit win season like we have in previous years. It just did not work out that well...

I've thought about this a lot and have read other teams/peoples opinions on "tanking" for good players and it's success rate looks something very similar to that of just making smart trades and signings. Dallas comes to mind when I think of this philosophy.

The main thing is that our players look much happier than they were in our tanking years. That means a lot and says a lot for anyone that might be looking to consider signing here.

All that losing really takes a toll on everybody- the coach, the FO, the team, and I honestly don't want to put our guys through any of that again. They would probably leave and I wouldn't blame them.

It simply isn't necessary to tank that hard. We could've stayed borderline respectable and still got Kemba, MKG, and Zeller with our 2011 through 2013 1sts. We picked Kemba 9th (we were in the hunt till the Wallace trade). We could've probably picked MKG 5th or so in 2012, and Zeller was barely projected as a top 10 pick in 2013. We could've won 25-30 games in 2011-12 and 2012-13 and nothing would've really been much different, except we wouldn't be a complete laughingstock. When you're not getting a can't-miss talent like an Anthony Davis, an Andrew Wiggins, a Greg Oden, or a Kevin Durant, massive implosion really isn't that necessary.

The Pelicans were gifted Anthony Davis and they're still almost in the same boat as us as a up & coming team. Maybe all of that will change a few years from now, or maybe not. That's just to say that great players don't always equal great team. Developing a winning culture from the owner to the GM down to the coach & collective talent of players is much more important, something that got lost in the Spurs faux tanking to land Tim Duncan almost two decades ago

Tanking is NEVER a good idea. like mentioned above NO has A Davis and they are still up and coming. most good teams never got there through tanking. look at the hawks. just pay attention to your roster and build through any means. we have talent we just need a better coach and make some trades. starting off with BIG AL. I would trade him for damn near anything we can get for him

I hate to post this here, don't let it hinder the discussion. I am new to these forums. Made the account back in 2012 and just now decided to log in. Is there a specific place where i introduce myself? I can't seem to find the "Newbie Thread" anywhere.

EDIT: I found the "Get to know your fellow fans" thread.

Just want to state, been watching Charlotte since their inauguration; my views on Al is that the team should trade him. He is a great player, but he does not fit the young and healthy play style of the Hornets. I am a Lance believer, I would like to trade Al for a more energetic center who might not be an all star, but will compliment the rest of the team much better.

First post, still a bit newbie. I'll read the rules and learn.

Hey whats up. Welcome to the board. Not really as far as introducing yourself. Just start posting. If you like you can leave a sig message saying something so that people will see you are new. This is a great board. I post about everyone except PJ Hairston. You will rarely see me post anything about that guy. Once again welcome :P

Fixed. If Al really wanted an NBA Championship than he shouldn't have spent his whole life playing selfish, fat kid basketball.

Is there anything that could happen that would make our front office consider trading Al? If Kemba has to get surgery are we going to try for the 8th seed or just do a emergency tank for a season? If we didn't trade Al would there even really be any chance of us getting the 8th seed anyways?

Probably not, i hope he opts out and wants to go ring chasing or something non Hornet related.

If we managed to make the playoffs, the 1 or 2 seed (ATl and CLE probably) would murder us, I dont want to witness that mess of a series with no Kemba.

We might be without Kemba (knee surgery) for the season, Biz (knee) for who knows how long, Marv (concussion) for a few games. Thats our #1 scorer, our rim protector and one of our few shooters, add on that Al is having his worst season ever and Lance is washed up, things will get really ugly.

I would do this even if Jackson wasn't included. Denver would probably need a 2nd round pick though

Pfft, Al is about to carry us into the playoffs by averaging a quintuple-double.
