Can you name me the last time a team fired their coach midway through the year and then signed a respectable candidate DURING that same season?

OKC firing Carlesimo for Brooks who turned around OKC's rebuild.
06 Heat firing SVG and Pat taking over, coaching them to a championship that very year.

Brooks sucks. We don't have have a Pat Riley in our front office. What else you got?

Lol hey, you asked a question and I answered it. #WhatElse
(Brooks did turn their record around though.)

Not hard to read what he was putting down. Who else was out there jacking up missed shots and playing matador defense?

Harris 4-16, Dipo 6-20. So Dipo is jacking up missed shots too. But lets blame everything on Harris

That's where I think you can't hold the players blameless for how bad this team is playing. As much as Vaughn sucks, the Knicks weren't coached any better tonight, but their players outplayed our players. The coaching is bad, but the players are also playing badly.

I think you make a valid point, but even with the highest effort from the players i don't think JV strategy sets them up for success and if they think that then they aren't even going to try. Doesn't make them blameless but you can understand not giving all when you think you will take an L no matter what you do. I still feel the responsibility starts at the head of the table and JV is sitting there.

If we wait a bit there will be some decent coaches on the market next offseason.

George Karl, Mark Jackson, Mike Malone are all out there

Blatt could be available. Possibly Thibs. Maybe Hollins and Spo too?? If we wanted another assistant coach to become HC, IIRC Fizzdale on the heat is solid. D'antoni is out there too

I know a lot of those names are unlikely but my point stands.. THere are solid guys out there

Talking about assistants.. Our next head coach needs to bring in DA as an assistant

In times past were there candidates like George Karl and Mike Malone in the wings and available? I'm not sure i am getting your point here.

I highly doubt that a respectable candidate would want to take over a lottery team, mid-season, without a training camp. There is very little real practice time in the middle of the season. A respectable candidate would know that there would not be enough time to teach the guys and turn it around by the end of the year due to the limitations. Anyone who thinks we can snag Karl in the middle of the year is dreaming.

I think JV was referring to these two in the post game. 20 shots is way too much unless you're a superstar.

No, Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka did. That guy is the reason why they haven't won.

yeah, JV fired and it will be an assistant for the rest of the year. Would help the tank if nothing else

HOU and CHI are winning teams and we have a pretty bad record, how come they were not prepared? this is a young team, with a lot of potential and a bad coach. our results will be inconsistent, that's the sad reality...

Well I suspect Harris because Vaughn refuses to put him in the starting lineup, he's in a contract year, a fluff story about wanting to play for NY came out today and it's his hometown... someone also said Vaughn was ripping into Harris during a timeout (not sure if true). Harris also looked like he was trying too hard last time we played in NY. Dipo sucked, too, but I thought the outside circumstances pointed to Harris. Maybe it's a coincidence though.

Ive been saying Armstrong since we fired SVG, he would have been a much better interim coach than JV, but at this point we need an established leader

Agreed, plus Henny would rather get the lotto pick instead of fighting for the 8th seed

Honestly, most of Dipo's shots were good shots. He took 20 shots, 5 or 6 were forced. Most of Tobias' shots tonight were forced. He looked like he had one thing on his mind: auditioning for NY.
