This is getting out of hand, I wonder what a top 5 pick+frye would net this team, I don't want another rookie.

We really have a number of needs in the draft. I say we let Harris walk for any number above and look into maybe Paul Millsap to play the 4. Then we draft Mario hezonja or d Angelo russell to fill in the gaps at swingman. Or if we really think we'll strike out in free agency we can look into drafting called stein, Turner or cliff alexander.

My preference is for Alexander since he is more appropriately sized to play power forward, has bulk and can defend the rim. I am less motivated to try drafting a center and making twin towers work.

Or we could try a trump card which would be trading vucevic in a package to bring in a perimeter star and drafting called stein to be a rim protector. I wouldn't rule out a true blow up like that since we have been so bad this season. Only players I wouldn't look into trading are elf and oladipo.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... y=diff_pts ;

The Magic should try to play slower, tougher, and dirtier. Every night, be a defensive team and get a net positive board number.
Switching over to real tight rotations with an incessant focus on the defensive scheme and a slower pace will raise all player's D and chemistry as a team unit.

The other key seems to be a spacing team with chemistry again.
And to blend Payton into that concept and improve it, we need to use Frye more, with the same plays and motions Phx used, bc spacing is especially dangerous with a stretch four shooter.
The other potentially big thing is to get Tobes and Dipo into more off ball motions and secondary options that put them in their hottest shooting zones. No more fruitless passes, they have a green light from their hot spots.

It is possible to improve defensively and still play with psce, like golden state. Coaching goes a long way here and is a big reason why we need a change.

to me it seems magic use 75% of energy on offense and 25% on defense, not saying they suck at defense but if the offense was easier they would be able to use much more energy on defense. When you watch a team like golden state, a few quick passes and a shot is released, magic make it seem much harder then it should be. people complain about dipo's defense sometimes, trying to drive it to the basket so often takes so much energy, I know anytime I play basketball im exhausted after a few drives to the basket.

This was a game we lost because we just missed shots. Defense in the 4th was pretty bad, and Harris seemed to be playing selfishly, trying to prove something in his hometown, but it wasn't a single player loss.

If we had won, it would have been on the backs of Vuc and Payton. Those two looked stellar out there tonight. I would have liked to have seen Gordon log some more minutes.

Didn't get to watch the game, but JV needs to get fired ASAP. So tired of the same BS over and over again.

If only my boss was as lenient as Hennigan...

Harris built the Knicks a new arena last night with Dipo chipping into help. Harris's audition didn't go well. A little worried that he goes ISO joe and the offense stops moving. He's a BALL STOPPER.

why would Millsap leave Atlanta? He has a good thing there. He also isnt a defensive PF, especially of the type we need. He can play decent man on man defense, but not the help defense that we desperately need.

We absolutely could use Gobert as a rim protector. He is a poor mans Tyson chandler and has a bright future

I think that the thing most people neglect when they say we should play faster is that this team has the worst transition D in the league. Pushing the pace just gives us more opportunities to get exposed.

People talking about rim protector fail to see the real issue here. Our defensive system is tremendously simplistic. As a team we dont know how to play team defense. We dont seem to grasp defensive rotations. We show very little organization. Its not just the big men getting beat the guards are also getting beat badly. JV can say all he wants about each player needing to man up on their individual assigments but whats the point if the system we play makes it like each player is defending 2 players at the same time because we are constantly off balance and scrambling all over the place. Our organization on offense looks inept as well. All condemnations on JV.

It doesn't matter. Our coach is awful and we get exposed whether we play fast or slow.

He's hands down our best player and his contract is a steal. We need another go to player on the wings.
