Really? Who cares and why would he deserve a shrine here? This couldn't have gone in the former Wizards thread instead?

Its just a fun thread folks. Try not to get your undies in a bundle.

Ves was never a douche while he was here. No reason to hate on him.

Yeah it sucks things didn't work out better and we mostly wasted a #6 pick that would have landed us one of many solid to very good players, but the Ves ride had some fun to it.

The dunking Ninja
That video they put together for him pre draft that was like a motion picture.
The kiss and his hot g/f
His first year with 20 starts in a strike shortened season where he produced pretty well at 20 yrs old with Wall
Some nice glue play and an always willing passer.

I hope he is having fun again playing over seas and finding his mojo and love of the game again
Then puts in another solid off season and finds a FT shot.
Then make a return to the NBA as the AK47 type he was projected to be at age 26

I think Ves is a prime example of how hard it is to make it in the NBA. Lots plays into it and timing and where you land is a big part of that. Had Ves landed in a more stable situation, he might have been able to make it without returning overseas first.

Really! He's a nice guy even if not exactly a prototype NBA player.

hands11 wrote:Yeah it sucks things didn't work out better and we mostly wasted a #6 pick that would have landed us one of many solid to very good players....

We *altogether* not "mostly" wasted the pick, Hands -- our getting Miller in a trade he was part of doesn't mean anything; Denver would have taken anything to get rid of Miller.

And the player we missed, Kawhi Leonard, is a lot better than "very good." Not to mention Klay Thompson, an alternate to Leonard!

Sigh... I know we've gone over this a zillion times, but that mess plus passing over, Tobias Harris, Nikola Mirotic, Kenneth Faried, Reggie Jackson, Norris Cole & Jimmy Butler in order to take Singleton? And passing over Chandler Parsons, Lavoy Allen, E'twaun Moore and Isaiah Thomas to take Mack (and then waive him and watch him become an average but cheap NBA journeyman...)?

I shouldn't have brought it up... sorry. We've made some better moves since...

No reason to hate him? Maybe the fact he never worked on his game while getting paid a pretty penny is a good reason?

Sure no reason to hate him at all:

According to Lukas Kuba of TruthAboutIt.Net, in an interview Veselý gave in his home language, the former first-rounder ripped the Wizards organization for stifling his growth in the NBA, contributing to his crippling lack of confidence by cutting his minutes, and placing unreasonable weight room expectations on him — all of which nearly resulted in him demanding a trade out of Washington.

Vesely was doing well at the end of 2011. He and Seraphin started the last 15 to 25 games. I know they won 8 of 10 games to end the season. The Wizards brought in Okafor and Ariza in the offseason. This effectively stunted Vesely's development.

They did ask him to gain weight and bang inside. His role was changed. They NEVER let him play rover/defender/passer SF. There were zero minutes for Vesely at C.

One thing Jan cannot blame on anyone but himself is his cowardly, bad FT shooting.

Vessanity

22 pts on 8/10, 1-2 FTA , 7 rebounds, 3 steals in a win

Andrew Goudelock scored 20 as Fenerbahce Ulker topped Unicaja 60-68 for its sixth straight road win.

Wonder who will end up with Goudelock when the season is over ?

Vesely had talent but it was never going to work out here unless he added a jumpshot/improved his free throws.

He's literally one of the worst lottery picks of all time. He makes Kwame look like Moses Malone.

I can't believe the mods have let a thread like this go that has the same deference to a former player like Michael Ruffin and LaRon Profit.

For shame pine, for shame.
