It was only one game, but it just didn't seem like they're the real deal elite team. Definitely good players that know how to play, good ball movement, variety of players with complimentary offensive skills and good defense though. I just didn't see anything special in that one game --- Spurs of the East? please.

They're good for all the reasons you just illustrated. Look at their record. Look at who they've beat. We're deep enough into the season where teams start to separate themselves.

They have legit shooters at each starting position and have 3 point range at the 1-4. Teague's playing like an all-star, horford and millsap can score in a variety of ways off post, PnP, PnR, ISO, spot up. Kroger is shooting over 50% on 3's and Demarre Carroll is their 3&D guy who is playing real well for them. They've got a decent bench too and of course running a Ball sharing type of offense similar to what the Spurs and Warriors try to do. Last I looked they were top 5-10 in both 2pt% and 3pt% as well as a top 10 defense.

In summary, yeah they're legit.

The Warriors are dominating the best conference and have the best record in the NBA. Ipso facto, Warriors are the better team in the clubhouse until a playoff or something else proves differently. Everything else is just ESPN, east coast wishful thinking, and the time-zone difference.

Right now I'd put Hawks about fifth or sixth overall, behind not just the Warriors but the Blazers, Grizzlies, Rockets, and maybe even the Spurs and Thunder.

1/3 Atl vs Port 115-107 (@ Port)
1/7 Atl vs Mem 96-86
12/20 Atl vs Hou 104-97 (@ Hou)
1/23 Atl vs Okc 103-93

Only team they lost to on your list was SAS on 11/5 94-92. I'd definitely put Atl comfortably above Houston, current Portland, And the Thunder.

I want a Whiteside on the Warriors.

Low post bench defender that cost nothing.
In 1971, the team moved across the Bay Area to Oakland, and changed its geographic name to Golden State to symbolize the team as representative of the entire state of California

The Knicks, in an effort to rebuild through the N.B.A. draft and free agency, appear to have officially given up on this season. They’re an unthinkable 5-32, and on Monday night they traded away J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert, leaving a roster that might struggle against an N.B.A. Development League team.

So we feel it’s only merciful to give our Knicks beat writer, Scott Cacciola, a break from such woeful basketball. He deserves to see the game played at a higher level. For the next month or so, we would like to point him to some good, quality basketball, wherever it might exist. Any suggestions?

Maybe there’s another N.B.A. team that warrants his attention, or perhaps a high school or a college squad. For that matter, maybe you know of a strong coed team at your local Y that Scott should write about. Tell us where to send him. Submit your ideas in the comments section.

It looks like they did give their writer a break. He had this recent article on the Warriors.

In the byline:

Not the Knicks
Articles in this series are chronicling Scott Cacciola’s sabbatical from covering the woeful Knicks as he checks out some of the good basketball around the country, recommended by readers of The New York Times.

Wow, I was just flicking through Youtube, and have only just now seen what happened to Rodney Rodgers. That's crazy, but not surprising, as motorbikes are a fast track to misery.

George Karl in Sacramento makes a lot of sense. I'm surprised if they are planning on making another *in season* coaching change. And I wonder how Karl is going to work with Cousins - he's old school. One Cousins standing around on defense while his man goes in for an uncontested dunk, I don't want to see what happens. Or maybe I do :) I think that guy may be bipolar or have ADHD or something - he needs to get on his meds.

I like the move if it's true. If Cousins and players are discontent with corbin which it looks like they are, why waste the season and wait until the off season to make a coaching change. Plus Karl is free right now. Make a goal to go .500 the rest of the season and gain momentum or at least learn his philosophies for next season.

Kings should have never fired Malone in the first place.

Think Mike Malone could replace Brooks in OKC for next season. Might actually be a great move.

Cousins is such a whiny bit*h.

There aren't many better options than Karl out there.

MDA, Mark Jackson? If he wants to win then man up and shut up instead of asking for some soft players coach who will never yell at you.

Cousins is conversing with God now... I'm telling you, dude has some mental issues. Would not want him as my team's centerpiece.

Minny trading a (protected) future 1st for Payne feels like GS trading a protected future 1st for Marcus Williams.

Bad teams shouldn't trade future 1sts, even protected, and especially for guys with "nice backup PF" upside.

Supposedly ATL is making room for another shooter!! They want Ray Allen or Troy Daniels. Talk about stacking a team full of shooters damn...

I'm really jealous that they've been in their offense for a whole year before this one. Their offense is like a machine.
