Middleton's more valuable than Kanter on both ends and his market has a chance of being softer.

I don't get the fascination with Kanter. Sure he might be available. If we are willing to pay him let's just give him an offer sheet in the offseason. I really don't think Utah is matching a tough offer on a guy that has become redundant.

But i don't want to pay a guy who can do little but bully lesser bigs periodically. He can't defend the rim, shoot from outside or any other thing a player in his role should be contributing. So giving away real assets so we can overpay a guy who cant contribute is a complete non starter for me.

Kanter has added a functional 3 pt shot this year. 13 for 37 = 35% Enough to keep people honest

No thanks to Kanter, really. Especially not giving up Middleton for him. We could probably just sign Kanter outright if we actually want him. Utah probably won't match, so why give up a key asset AND pay Kanter more?

No, I wouldn't really want to part with Middleton for Kanter either, at least as a one-for-one deal. Kanter does have some skills that none of the current Bucks Centers have, though. It points up the dilemmas that the Bucks have for upgrading their roster by trade. The most tradeable Bucks are the ones you want to retain long term. Giannis and Middleton seems to moving in that direction. Parker, Marshall, & Inglis we will just have to wait and see.

Larry... is no longer LARRY SANDERS! and probably never will be again, Henson & Knight both have very useful skills, but also are saddled with limitations and Knight will be an RFA himself. OJ Mayo & Ersan have been hot and cold at times and carry a biggish price tag considering their inconsistencies. Bayless, Zaza, JOB, are just "guys" at this point in their careers. Dudley may be a moveable piece in the right situation.

Time for Hammond and/or Morway to earn their keep. Let's see if they can spin gold from straw

We need a center quickly and Koufos's talent is wasted in Memphis.

I'd much rather Koufos than Kanter.

and making 13 3pts in a season does not a shooter make. And teams (rightfully) give it to him.

Great suggestion, but western playoff teams need all the bigs they can get. I don't see them moving him. They'll almost certainly lose him this summer, though.

What do we think Koufos' value is in relation to Henson?

Henson having another year on his contract alone must be attractive to the Grizzlies.

Then again if their goal is to pick up a back up center on a sustainable deal perhaps ZaZa would be Memphis' target.

Kanters name comes up because he's likely getable. Koufos is another one, as is O'Quinn. Maybe (big maybe) Noel. We need a big.

Potentially we grab Monroe but I doubt we'd have the coin to do it and he really isn't a C.

Woj -- Sources: Hornets, Nets resume trade talks, this time focusing on Joe Johnson, Lance Stephenson

He also confirms this:

The Nets are still intent on moving Brook Lopez, with the Denver Nuggets remaining an interested trade partner, league sources said.

Kanter is a solid rebounder - a weakness of ours. He can hit from outside enough (.350 3P%) that defenses have to address. He's very good from FT line (.821) which many 5s are not. He can score in double digits in a variety of ways with a respectable FG% of .503. And he's only 22 and can still get better with good coaching and in proper scheme - see Kidd.

I get the defensive concerns he brings with him, but Kanter would immediately become our best big on offense if acquired. Zaza's a great passer out of the high post, but other than that mid-range J when defenders sag off him, he's relatively worthless as a scorer. Henson still has the little nifty left hook, but that's pretty much all he brings to the table.

The main caveat is that Kanter is 22 years old. I can understand having qualms about paying him big money in the offseason, but giving up an asset like Middleton or Henson for a still very young, former top 5 pick talent isn't something that I'd lose sleep over.

Only concerns I got with Kanter is passing and defense, with giannis and jabari cutting to the basket a lot it would be nice to have a decent Center and guard who can pass. And defensively you don't want jabari and kanter defending the rim, although I think jabari plays mostly the 3 with giannis at the 4 in the future.

Henson and multiple 2nd rounders for Kanter.

Jazz save money not having to pay Kanter, Bucks get the Center they need moving forward. Surely seems like a win for both teams involved. I mean, quite honestly, Kanter is going to demand they let him walk to begin with, Gobert and Favors are the starters by the end of this year or early next year, and Kanter has earned his shot at being a starter. The Jazz need to find someone who has talent but not been good enough to make erronious demands that Kanter likely will make, Henson seems to be the perfect fit for that role.

Or just overpay for Kanter this summer and trade Henson for a late 1st or something. If Jazz match oh well, don't really have interest in him anyways.

We won't have the cap room this summer to put out a $12 to $15 million dollar offer which is what it will take to even be in the ballpark with Kanter. By trading for him now, you get his Bird rights and the inside track to re-sign him.

I see, I wouldn't do it than. Too much to give up and I don't like the fit.

I will be shocked if Kanter gets more than a 4yr 40m deal. He looks good, but not 12-15m good, and there is not a lot of willing buyers out there for 2015 outside of the Lakers and Knicks, who will each have their eyes set much higher than a 22yr old who needs more time to grow yet.
