They must be weighing options. Not really something that professional writers should just be throwing out there until they know the facts. 1: it can possibly cause a uproar and 2: if he doesn't end up geting surgery they will look like complete idiots and will lose all credibility as a writer.

Any beat writer worth a damn could know anything at this point.

Yeah but Michael Jordan probably doesn't even know whats going to happen yet. It seems like something that is going to need multiple doctor opinions. Im just saying tweeting that Walker is going to get surgery and then he doesn't could be the end of them as a writer, definitely will strip them of all credibility at least.

It appears that Kemba may want to still play and want to get a second opinion on whether or not he need knee surgery after the local doctors recommended it

If this is correct then it's the total opposite of what I was assuming. I would've thought that the team would've been cautious regarding this injury while Kemba's camp may have felt that he could play through it since he's been doing it for years

At this point why dont we just shut down Kemba, have him get the surgery, and focus on getting every one healthy instead of gunning for another 1st round sweep out of the playoffs??

Kembas out, Marvins out, Byiombo is out, Al anf Lance are coming off injuries, and Vonleh "Isnt ready".

Why dont we just focues on developing our youngsters while reestablishing our DefenseI've Idenity, instead of trying to "Win now" which we are no were close to doing/being

If the cyst is grinding on his meniscus, surgery is much preferred to "managing" the pain. Agree that it makes more sense to shut him down, get it done, deal with this season via your reserves, and look toward next year as necessary. Doing this might make the Hornets "sellers" versus "buyers". Actually given our assets ("Mr. Big Lance", "Messed up Marvin", "Hendo-the-occasionally-magnificent", and "Big Al Dancin' To The Oldies"), I suppose we're more like "yard sellers".
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I would think we have to keep Lance to run offense if Kemba goes out. It would be nice to have Shabazz Napier right now.

I think the "cyst" and meniscus are unrelated, just a hunch.

They are related, but the seriousness of it could be a minor issue. There has to be a tear in the meniscus in order for the cyst (leak of mass fluid) to occur

I think Kemba has earned the benefit of the doubt about his health from the team and organization. if he feels like he needs the surgery, then he should get the surgery and the rest of the Hornets should fall in behind him and support him. if this becomes a rift in the organization of any significance, shame on the Hornets. Kemba has played through all sorts of nagging pain and injuries and he's the most important roster player they have.

I would recommend Kemba to get the surgery, and if this team miss the playoffs, then so be it. He did his job of putting them back into contention almost single-handedly. If I was Kemba I wouldn't fight through these injuries too much until the front office do their due diligence of acquiring some competent wing players willing to attempt & make 3-pointers that could ease my load offensively. At this point, that is long overdue. It's been said since 2012

Would be kind of amusing if we are able to make the playoffs without Kemba because we close out the season with a schedule that is so much easier than the one we opened with.

We have 37 games remaining. Of those 37 games, we have 20 games against teams that would not be in the playoffs if the season ended today (unfortunately 4 of those are against DET). We only have four total games left against teams that are currently playoff teams in the West, and one of those is against HOU in the second to last game of their season where they may be resting everyone. We have no more games against GSW, MEM, POR or PHO. We have one game left against each of LAC, DAL, SAS and HOU.

We have the following games left on our schedule against teams that are currently in the top 7 seeds (we're 8) in the East: 2 games against ATL, 4 against WAS, 3 against TOR, 3 against CHI, 1 against MIA, 1 against HOU. No more games against CLE or MIL.

We definitely have an easier February - March than our November, but it's not a cakewalk.

That wouldn't be amusing at all. That would be rejuvenating and damn near miraculous. Also, even with Kemba getting the surgery, he would likely be back before the playoffs. I think his return would be based on if we are still in playoff contention. If we're out of the picture then it would be necessary for him to return, and it would be best for him to opt to miss the rest of the season. He could return from this surgery as soon as 2 weeks, or it could push the threshold of 4-6 weeks. Personally, I don't think it's that serious of a injury, just a minor procedure to cleanse out the knee of fluid that built up over the years
