Dumb and embarrassing, he had to know he would be busted on this. I wonder ESPN will spank him?

Re: Chad Ford busted for retroactively updating draft boards
This is both
in principle and also
because it's ESPN.
The saddest part is that as far as I can tell there's very little upside to doing something like this. What was he hoping to accomplish?
Also, I'd be interested to see what happens if folks that subscribed to Insider were to ask for refunds because of this.

Ehhh, I think it's more likely that the people in charge of the ESPN Insider portion of their website were the ones who did it. I just don't see Ford himself sitting there at his computer, editing the content. Maybe he gave the order? I don't know...but I don't think we should immediately assume it was Ford who did it.

Yeah, folks on the original Reddit board said they'd probably pin it on a nameless intern. LOL

Re: Chad Ford busted for retroactively updating draft boards
bizarre, and I always took Ford's boards to be what he expected to happen, not what he felt should happen. I don't really care what he thinks in as much as I care what insider info he has about whats likely to happen based on sources.
It's funny because while some of these aren't as noticeable, others are obvious like Robinson for instance. In any draft where we had a top 3-5 pick coming I was all over his board to figure out what was most likely to be the guys in play for our pick and Robinson was always slotted in the top 4 on his board starting during I think the conference tournament, and maybe a bit before.
This is super easy to catch, the problem is how many people actually dig in past a year or two? Well, the fans of crummy teams always in the lottery will, like me
, but I used free sites to check in, not big on paying espn for anything other than the cable access.

Here's how stupid the re-rankings are: Ford moved Seraphin UP into the top 20.

Re: Chad Ford busted for retroactively updating draft boards
When are they going to have the press conference? I mean, they spent 35 minutes firing skeptical questions about deflated balls at Tom Brady. This has gotta be worth 15 minutes of "Dude, wtf?"
Right?
Right?

Re: Chad Ford busted for retroactively updating draft boards
I don't get why this is a big deal. Do people care who Chad Ford had going in the top 5 of the 2009 draft? Who actually looks at mock drafts/draft boards retroactively? If you're actually paying money for ESPN Insider you're already an idiot.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I'm not sure it's that bad TBH. I mean guys like Jordan Crawford, Udoh, Xavier Henry, and Damion James are ahead of Seraphin on that list. And the re-rankings were done in 2012 following what was probably Seraphin's best season.

I guess i am an idiot then lol.
It is very cheap. You get ESPN the magazine with it. And when you look up a player they have very good scouting reports for almost every player in the league.
Here is Searphin's :
Scouting report
+ Score-first tank on the block who has solid hook shot
+ Big-time ball-stopper. Needs to get deeper post position.
+ Mobile defender who is unmovable in post-up. Bad hands.
Analysis
The French big man is an absolute load on the block. A whopping 40.7 percent of his scoring plays come on post-ups, which is one of the highest rates in the league. He gets good separation with his go-to jump hook, but it also works to his disadvantage. He almost never draws whistles and he only shoots 44.3 percent on those opportunities per Synergy. Among big men, only Chris Kaman drew fouls less often on post-ups.
He's also a black hole on the block. He averaged only 1.1 assists every 36 minutes last season, which helps to explain why RPM thought he was one of the most hurtful offensive centers in the league. The Wizards scored 7.2 points per 100 possessions worse with Seraphin on the floor according to NBA.com.
For a guy who doesn't pass or draw fouls, it's hard to justify his label as a one-way player. Defensively, he fouls way too much and hilariously only picked up three steals all season. His lack of dexterity is on the level of Joel Anthony and Bismack Biyombo. Good thing they picked up Kris Humphries.
