I have trouble believing that Chad Ford could be this stupid. I'm leaning towards him being innocent.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

It wasn't a one-time thing though. This happened consistently for years. So you can't even blame it on an intern or someone.

you need to log into the CMS first, once you do that, your username/time/ip address will all be in record. They will also have a revision control system in place. ESPN has all the information and they are just not going to tell us who did it.

Unfortunately, while CNN (unfortunately ) continues to be a high-rated cesspool watched by only the bottom of the intellectual barrel, ESPN remains a ratings juggernaut. That makes me a sad panda.

...so ok, is there any news station that's credible in America :nonono:

Aljazeera is actually pretty good.

trying to shoehorn the Patriots in here as some kind of victim is hilariously ironic.

this is why monopolies are bad and why I hope FS1 can ride the UFC etc to become a serious competitor. They do still have some guys with integrity who bust their tails doing some real reporting, but they have way too many guys coasting on the ESPN name.

There is no reasonable explanation where Chad Ford wasn't in on this and if he wasn't he needs to be going hard publicly after whomever has destroyed his reputation. His silence is deafening.

Chad Ford changing and editing his draft boards for past years?!

His silence combined with the official statement confirms it was him, there is no possible way they can't track who made those changes. Their IT dept would have to be recklessly incompetent to not be able to know that.

It just comes off sleazy & why would anyone pay for his future content.

Yeah the statement makes no sense, but why would that mean it was Ford? If he did this on his own, just fire him and be done with it... No reason to cover for him and hurting the brand with such a shady statement.

Imo this looks more like ESPN was aware/told Ford to do it. So they can't fire him. And putting out that stupid statement is better than admitting to trying to fool everyone...

Does anything really think Chad Ford has never gone back and looked at his previous drafts after the fact???

If he was innocent, he would have noticed these changes when he looked back at his picks and complained. The fact that they were up until someone else exposed them says it all. Also, his silence, ESPN's non-denial and the fact that they are not actively trying to find out who did it confirms that he did it.
Game, blouses.

I can't even imagine a motive for anyone other that Ford to change it. I also seriously doubt ESPN doesn't have any content management tools to control access and log changes to a massive website like theirs.

It looks like all of their historic content is now questionable, anyone could have changed it or can in the future change it was they dont have basic logging that you would likely find on most forums.
anyone involved in that meddling to justice”. NO COLLUSION

I kind of do too. This guy is a lawyer and a mormon, and even though I think he is stupid with most of his opinions (particularly when just analyzing what nba teams should do (like tank rank, etc), I bet someone else made those edits.

But we've been told by multiple current and former ESPN employees, none of whom wanted their names used, that the specific system used for the ESPN Insider NBA draft rankings pages runs under an entirely different, dynamic process—one they suggest is outdated and a remnant of the old Go.com era—and that the data administration tool used to construct the draft page has "far less oversight and audit records" than ESPN's standard CMS.

That doesn't surprise me since the draft rankings go back to early 2000's. It's just some internal web tool that likely just has a few weeks of we server logs retained at any given time.

Even if there were records, I doubt we will find out that a user by the name of 'chadbball2013' will be outed. It will be some IT guy, just like the Patriots and the locker room attendant.

except when I examined the source code for the 2003 draft (http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/res ... /year/2003 ), I found the following code which was generated by the so called Omniture SiteCatalyst, now renamed as Adobe Marketing Cloud:
<!-- SiteCatalyst code version: H.21.3 Copyright 1997-2010 Omniture, Inc. http://www.omniture.com -->

There was also trace of using conditions for IE9, which was introduced in 2011. So they do have the proper tools to rework the old data and I would think a 2010 management suite would have enough information to determine who was the man behind this?

Doctor MJ wrote:It's so weird to me that he, or anyone else, would feel a temptation to do this given that Ford isn't supposed to be giving his opinion, he's supposed to be going by what teams actually think.

So, when MCW gets moved up from #9 on Ford's actual board to #7 on the fake version, he's actually getting further off the mark from what was actually thought at the time (#11). WTF?

I wonder if we'll ever know the story here. It won't shock me if it turns out to be someone other than Ford who is responsible for this. Regardless, it obviously make him look bad...but realistically, if Darko couldn't kill Ford's career, it's hard to imagine this would.

If ford isn't responsible for falsifying his mock drafts after the fact (not that this is some serious crime lol), then why is he ok with it? And why wouldn't he say anything about it now? Changing your draft rankings later to seem more right should kill all your credibility and it should also kill espn's credibility because they are clearly complicit in covering this up. So if ford isn't responsible, he'll come out and say so...or at least he should.

edit: espn is probably not covering it up I guess.
