Not totally unexpected and would definitely want to see him go out on his own legs rather than as an injured player. Hopefully he's managed better next season.

I'm interested to see what kind of Impact Kobe has next season... with a healthy shoulder and more rest and better conditioning... these last 2 years have been wearing thin on him....

No one but to be honest who was out there? Bron was always going home, Melo wanted money. Plus he's older. I think it's more of a PR move, trying to change the lies about him not wanting anyone here so he can just shoot.

This whole pitching and colluding garbage has been a recent thing. Lakers haven't often opened up coffers and waited for a gift to fall in their laps during Kobe's prime.

Artest, who was pivotal in getting us the chip in 2010.

Gasol, if you figure in the fact that he pretty much had to demand a trade to make it happen.

Matt Barnes. Obviously not a big name, but that's the only name I could think of. Barnes said Kobe hit him up after the NBA Finals with Orlando.

Good news is he's got plenty of time to think it over before making that decision. Not much to be had for coming back next year and most likely getting injured again unless it's all about the paycheck.

Sounds like it's about going out on his terms. He probably wants a Derek Jeter type farewell tour, which the fans in each NBA city deserve, as does he.

He's had season ending injuries the last three years. He'll be 37 next year off three major surgeries. I don't see how he can see himself having a farewell tour when it's extremely likely that his body won't be able to sustain long enough to have it.

I think it's safe to say they learned their lesson about managing his minutes better.

Considering this injury started at the beginning of the season I doubt it had little to do with his minutes played. I just think he's broken down much like Nash was at this point.

Can he renegotiate his contract? Maybe that would help luring some decent Free Agents to LA. A top 5 pick should also help his case

To my knowledge Kobe doesnt have any nerve damage and he can safely carry his luggage.

No he just has a bunch of other issues. Who knows what it will be next year if he plays.

Artest came over to play w/ Kobe after Kobe kicked him out of his shower. (that story will be around for a long time).
Kobe worked out with Gasol in Europe during the the summer before he was traded and helped steer him to the Lakers.
Kobe called Vladimir Radmonovic the 1st minute of free agency w/ Phil Jackosn to get him to the Lakers. MLE
Kobe helped recruit Gary Payton.

Kobe's misses are Melo and Dwight.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
