"League sources say they have been shopping Derrick Williams, but Stauskas was recently reported to be available as well. When there’s a team that is aggressively looking to make a trade and has attractive assets to pull one off, usually that means a deal will happen before the deadline. Keep an eye on the Kings. I am such a lucky NBA fan. 8647 My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports fdt.

I'd trade Green & Plumlee for Stauskas. Idk if that will get it done though. Maybe add Ennis?
I doubt they have much interest in bringing IT back...

Other of Marcus or Plumlee for Capela and salary filler
The Capela trade may not be realistic. It would entirely depend on how much Houston is willing to trade a young potential player for a clearly better currently, but much lower ceiling guy who could help them win now.
If we shed Green, Marcus, and Plumlee and got Ross and Capela, that's a clear win in the long-run imo, even if it hurts us this season. It also frees up about $3 million in future cap (Ross+Capela-Marcus-Plumlee). Our SF position becomes PJ/Ross/Warren, with Capela becoming the backup PF and Wright still able to swing b/w the 4 and 5.
Or perhaps Green and a 2nd rounder for Bruno instead of Ross. Supposably our FO liked Bruno.
I really like Ross and that's who I was hoping we drafted when we got Marshall (though Ross was gone at that point) but I don't see why the Raps would trade him.

Qwigglez wrote:We need to trade for Love. I imagine Markieff left a good impression on Lebron when he scored 35 on em earlier this month. We could probably get Love for Dragic/Kieff/Zoran/Suns1st. And in a separate trade, Marcus for Iman Shumpert (since Shump can't be traded in combination of other players).
Suns lineup
Bledsoe/Shumpert/Tucker/Love/Len
IT/Green/Warren/Wright/Plumlee
Very good defensive starting lineup. The other 4 guys mask Love's defensive deficiencies. We still have a balanced bench. Also, Iman Shumpert has shown flashes of being a solid player, and his defense is pretty legit. Could be a move that pays huge dividends.
Cavs lineup:
Irving/Dragic/Lebron/Kieff/Mozgov
Dellavedova/Smith/Jones/Marion/Thompson
I obviously don't know the Cavs bench too well, but I imagine Dragic could substitute as PG during certain stretches of the game while Irving is on the bench. Dragic is a one man fast break, so ideally he could cherry pick like Wade used to do with Lebron. They move Smith to the bench where he belongs, as their other guys are terrible role players who occasionally show up to the game. Kieff might be able to fit better with Lebron than Love has shown so far this season. All in all, they have a more balanced roster. I realize that the Cavs have just won 7 straight games, but Love's numbers for those games are 14.5PPG, 8.5RPG.
I'd trade for Love if he was guaranteed to stay, but I don't think he is. I'm not quite as high on him as I was, but he still would fit perfectly with the way we want to play and would help with rebounding and give us that great stretch four. However, I wouldn't risk it since he will become a free agent.

I would love to have Stauskas here. One of my favorites players of last year's draft.

It might depend on their cap space. If they'd like an expiring, it might be worth it. I'd love to get Stauskas, but we also have pretty good depth at the 2 with a 2 pg system, Bullock and Archie.
Unless we can bring in a star, I don't really know we need to make a trade other than get rid of IT. I like our depth everywhere else, and I think unclogging that pg rotation would help with chemistry and make our team get back to last year's enjoyment of playing together.

Agreed. I also think unclogging log jams will actually give us better shot at making playoffs.

At 10million a year, expiring until 2016 his contract isnt great, but its not too bad either. Comparing Thomas, who is getting paid 6.5million a season.
We get a 6'6 guy that can attack the rim and play the 1/2/3 off the bench. Adds great size to our backcourt too.
Go all in this season.
Len/Plum
Kieff/Mook/Wright
PJ/Warren/Zoran/Bullock
Bledsoe/Evans/Goodwin
Dragic/Evans/Ennis
If we could get him at this price, I would consider it, not sure how NOP would feel about it, but Evans is a playoff type of player that could do well in the Suns offense. This is a nice trade if it could happen. Losing IT's scoring would hurt, especially if Green leaves with him, but this would give the team more balance.
I think so.
Eric Gordon is playing really well, and they wont be getting out of that contract anytime soon. Makes more sense to move Evans.
Holiday/IT
Gordon/IT
Green/Pondexter
AD/Anderson
Asik/ Whoever
Insane spacing on that team, building around the Brow.
You can potentially surround AD with 4 elite three point shooters. Cray stuff

This team is long on drivers and slashers and short on shooters. Look at what difference Korver is making for the spacing in Atlanta. Green is odd. He can be a shooter one game, and a zero the next. The great thing about Green is that when he is on, he can get his shot off against anyone. The ideal trade would be IT for Stauskas but that isnt going to happen. Plumlee for Stauskas would be a fair trade.
I would consider trading Archie for him too, but I don't think he trade value is as high as his potential. Maybe Bullock and Plumlee and a second rounder? Just depends on what Stauskas' trade value is right now. I am pretty much in the dark about that.

But it's a risk worth taking as Dragic has the capability to leave too. Plus, next year the Morris bros contracts jump up. If we were trying to keep Wright, he'll cost maybe around 5-6mil a year at least. That puts our salary at around 58mil, not including Dragic (Green is also gone). Then we have to add in our pick's salary, which isn't much but it doesn't leave us much wiggle room to operate in the free agency market.
I'm just nervous we don't make any moves, we stay mediocre taking picks in the 10-14 range. We've already been on the outside of the playoffs for the last 5 years, I don't want to wait another 3.

I agree that we need shooters. I wanted us to draft Stauskas (though I was happy with Warren too).

I didn't like Stauskas in the draft even at #18 and don't like him even more right now. I wouldn't trade Ennis for him straight up.

I need to take a look at Evans advanced stats. Has his D been decent this year?
Your idea has me intrigued.

Yeah obviously he wouldn't be available if he was playing well.
The point is I think, some GMs will take the risk on him and hope he can flourish on a different team environment.
Rookies playing well are almost always off the block.... The ones under achieving are the ones GMs take a chance on and hope for the best.

Exactly. If his price right now is "only" Plumlee, Bullock and a low pick (for example) we have to trade for him.

phrazbit wrote:For all the complaints about small ball, its not the point guards who have been the problem. Green, our "true" SG and Marcus Morris, an actually big SF, have been our two worst rotation players. Green has been especially awful when you dig into the stats. Plumlee has been a massive disappointment, Tolliver was terrible for us, Markieff has been okay but is weak on the glass... as are most of our bigs.
Basically, our 3 headed PG rotation that many love to piss and moan about, has been the main reason the Suns are contending for a playoff spot.
And I'm not even a big fan of the setup. I'd prefer they cash out on Thomas, but dumping Green should be a bigger priority. Bledsoe and Dragic fit well together.
Its nice to say "you have to pay a big sometime", but its not like these guys are readily available. The Suns have kept the roster flexible, if a quality big ends up on the market then they will have the opportunity to land them, but to moan that they have not done it already requires a willful ignorance to the almost total lack of opportunity.
I agree with what was said earlier on the page about us being a couple of years away from truly being contenders. And I agree with what you are saying, Phrazbit, that the true culprit is not the PGs, it's the other role players.
If we can obtain a "great player" at the 4, then by all means, go for it, but if we can draft the right guy this year, as it's a good year for PFs (at least on paper), we can take a year or so to develop him, and along with the hope that Warren turns out to be a "great" SF, we will be contending in no time. EB/Dragic/Warren/??????/Len will most likely be a very competitive team by the start of the '16/'17 season. Will it be tough to watch until then? Sure. But McD will surely trade one of our PGs for that 'star' big if available, but has been mentioned, that's easier said than done, so at the current time, he's trying to field the best team possible, while accumulating assets. Patience is what is needed, not a bunch of reactionary commentary from ex-NBA players.
Now, there are some promising young bigs like, wait for it...Sullinger, that very well may become a fringe star PF, and if we can trade for one like him--age 21-24, and catch lightning in a bottle, great. But again, that's easier said than done, IMO.

I've been pretty high on Sullinger all season. I've mentioned him in a few trade ideas. I don't know, but I think Green and a protected first could work. Ainge gets a first round pick and an expiring. Two things reported that he would want in a trade.
