Klay Thompson
Markieff Morris
Kawhi Leonard
Nikola Vucevic
Tobias Harris
Kenneth Faried
Damian Lillard(a bit unfair, the Wiz were never going to draft a PG)
Andre Drummond
Alex Len
Steven Adams
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Rudy Gobert
Thats not to say I'm overly down on Beal and Porter, but having an efficient scorer or young productive big would do wonders for this team. Also this is with 20/20 hindsight, but my god did EG screw up the 2011 draft.
Nene is a borderline all star PF when healthy and Gortat is a top 10 Center in the league
They are both solid players but I disagree that Gortat is a top 10 center in the league, he isn't a great rim protector and his offensive game is good not great. And there may of been a time when Nene was all star material, but not any more. His offensive game has taken a major dip since becoming a Wizard, although he is still a force to be reckoned with on D.
He has one of the highest Defensive Rating among centers who plays at least 20 mpg (higher: Bogut, Pachulia and Nene;-)) while in OffRtg he is somewhere around mid-to-high position. 7th best Net Rating (minimum 20 mpg) anyway.
He isn`t the greatest rim protector but there are no many at this position in the NBA. He is not the Offensive Monster like DMC or Davis, yet he is not the worst. Wizards has been playing differently this season and number of pick and rolls dropped, therefore Marcin isn`t that impressive offensively. He wasn`t postup player in Germany, nor in Orlando or Phoenix. It doesn`t mean he is a bust.
I would say that after ASG there will be time for Gortat to wake up. Actually I am a bit confident that he is playing without 100% battery yet and in a few weeks he will move up a gear. I prefer a few average-to-bad games in December/January and a few monster games in playoffs;-)
Just to compare a few centers ... Seriously, who is indisputably better outside of Davis, DMC, Gasol, Howard ... ? I would say he is about 9th/10th in the league.
