Rose and FTA's
Just looking at the past 5 games this has been the most aggressive he's been all year in attacking yet he's only averaging about 3 FTA's per game. What can this really be attributed to, yesterday alone he had to have about 15 attempts in the painted area, I know refs won't call them all but there's no way he didn't get to the line at least one time.

Re: Rose and FTA's
If derrick is so great at creating contact maybe it will serve him well to draw more non shooting fouls.
Getting a shot up , its a gamble to get a call.

Doesn't flop well is 1 reason.
It's amazing that Rose attempted zero free throws last night. Absurd.

Re: Rose and FTA's
It could also be that he got REALLY GOOD at avoiding contact. Some of his finishing moves look dramatically different than 2011 and 2012.
Then there's also the refs still getting used to the blinding blur that is Derrick.
Give it some time...FO will work the leagues office through backdoor channels, send in videos and lodge formal complaints. Boom...FTA's back to where they justifiably should be.

Re: Rose and FTA's
Rose probably needs to exaggerate contact better but it's hard because even through contact he gets a good shot up at the rim.

Re: Rose and FTA's
There's been cases where he's literally been hacked and the refs simply haven't called it. It's totally ridiculous, there is simply no way he shouldn't have gone to the line at least once last night. I hope the Bulls send tape to the league voicing their concern on this as it's gotten to be a disturbing trend.

Re: Rose and FTA's
This is a 5 year old conversation: Derrick doesn't need to flop (show contact that didn't happen) but he needs to demonstrate to the refs when contact DOES happen.

Perhaps the refs are so used to rewarding players for intentionally trying to draw fouls that they can't recognize when a guy gets fouled while actually trying to score.

Re: Rose and FTA's
it was a bit ridiculous last night. There must have been 5 or 6 instances where I mentally said "foul" or "YES! And 1" and nada. I don't think I was being a homer...they were regular, normal fouls. Just not for Derrick....hum.

pretty much this x 1000 but such is the problem with the refing in general--it's all about gaming the system and getting rewarded.
Rose needs a license to the Harden Flop Physics engine
He could also talk to Buckets about timing his jump or Niko on the ball fake.
1-head flail
2-yelling "ahhhh!"
Probably get him a few more a game with little work/no contact.
I would say I think come playoffs even if he changes nothing he will likely get more calls if he continues re-establishing himself as a star. Might be a hidden advantage based on not getting any/many calls now.

The refereeing in general was not so crisp yesterday. I agree it is a big deal. The reason Wade, Lebron (even though they are not great shooters) succeed is because they make their defender a little soft when they draw fouls in the beginning of the game.

Re: Rose and FTA's
Refs are trying to help bull's offense by no calling fouls on Rose until he acknowledges that he needs to pass the **** ball. Every time that he drives to the basket it force the opponent to make adjustments and rotate to help Rose's man and they let Pau and Noah alone for an easy bucket in the paint...But Rose is unable to see this, so they pack even more the paint.
Bulls played clearly better when the offense remains on Butler and Pau.

When this account gets more "And1"s than posts written ...then my life will be complete. And maybe it will be the right time to hang it up. (Achieved on 2017-2018 season)...but still here.

My God, that Curry play pissed me off so much...**** refs aren't even supposed to be calling plays like that. They're not supposed to call fouls on the defender when the offensive player is jumping out of their way to cause a foul. **** ****.

Derrick's already a verbal flopper. He yells "AAAAYYYYYY" whenever anyone is near him inside of the 3 point line. And he does do a bit of head flailing on layups, though I guess he could stand to do more.
The idea that Rose is too fast, or really good at avoiding contact is hogwash. Earlier in the season, Derrick was definitely avoiding contact...But not with amazing body control and swerving. He was tossing up floaters and simply not going all the way to the rim. But this past week or so? He's getting to the rim...And he's not getting any calls. It's **** weak.

Rose plays the right way and still usually gets up a quality look. I thought the calls would be different or actually correct when he came back but they haven't been

Re: Rose and FTA's
He doesn't sell anything. He needs some lessons from Butler. Or better yet, Harden, Wade, KD, Bron, ect
He takes forearms to the head every other game and it's rarely called. He needs a Boozer scream or something after he feels contact.
Hopefully things change, Rose being aggressive and getting into the paint helps the offense, but he's gotta get some calls if he's going to take the contact from the bigs

Derrick executed the head flail much better his last couple pre-acl years so it's something he's capable of. It's a shame that that is what is needed to draw a whistle as opposed to actually calling, you know, a foul.

Do you believe that is a successful championship recipe? Do you think we have a better chance to win it all with a passive Rose and an offense focused on Butler and Pau?
