Personally not really big on Cuz playing funny minutes stretches, as we aren't making the playoffs (as I see it personally)

I am, it's time to start the showcase. I say give Sessions every chance to show what he can do. Give JT every shot he wants. Let Landry go full Kobe if you have to. Whatever it takes to unload some of the mistakes.

Just low IQ basketball and mental feebleness all around. Opponents know that if they stay close, the Kings will eventually collapse by themselves at the slightest frustration. Team goes on a run? End of the world. Call doesn't go your way? End of the world. Miss a shot? End of the world. Sneakers get dirty? End of the world. Don't like the Gatorade flavor? End of the world.

Sounds like you're trying to give the ownership and front office more credit than it deserves, because they've shown nothing to prove that they would fix anything either way

Sounds like you're trying to give the ownership and front office more credit than it deserves, because they've shown nothing to prove that they would fix anything either way

Hopefully those cracks include the front office. Pete D'alessandro better start feeling the pressure because pretty much all of this is his doing. This is going to be a big deadline for him to set something right or at least start the momentum into making major change via cap cutting moves, or by making more sense of this roster.

The media has been ruthless with the Kings front office and right now they appear to be by far in the right. While I believe Malone would have been figured out at some point anyway, although maybe not to this degree, the timing and circumstances surrounding his dismissal are unquestionable and point the finger of blame squarely onto the general management. The negativity around this team both internally and externally can't maintain unchecked because this could easily go from contentious to unsalvageable. Any more and heads need to roll, starting with Pete D'alessandro. Hopefully the next GM realizes the opportunity he has with a player like Cousins and doesn't decide to throw out the baby with the bath water.

And there are enough terrible teams to keep us out of the top 5 projected most likely no matter how out of control this gets, not that I'm to the point of rooting against us

Yep its not a strong draft but there guys who can fall in that 9-10 range that can be useful like cauley-stein and harrell.. it would be nice if we luck out with d'angelo russell who I think vivek will have a hard on.. if we somehow draft russell (who will be gone by our pick) and acquire taj gibson in a trade..I would say that would be a successful start...

Unless Malone was fired due to a conflict with Vivek, which would mean that Pete probably has another season to prove himself, and another lost season going forward. I mean hey, what better way to get people excited about the new arena opening than a new GM and coach in 2 seasons? Fresh start in a new arena. I can see it now...

I doubt it, I think the reality that Pete was behind this is more and more likely. Vivek eventually had to have someone in his ear and I think it's pretty obvious that it's Mully/Pete. Malone was hired before either entered the picture.

Right now the same expectations that were supposedly heaped on Malone need to be put squarely on the shoulders of D'alessandro. If the ship sinks this year, or continues to at least, he's the only target for the blame. If he isn't then this is going to be rough because that means Mully/Pete can do no wrong and it could be years of consistent downturn before they're gone.

I do think Pete needs a chance though, but this deadline should be a big one. Sitting and waiting on a late lotto pick in a weak draft won't cut it, time to get Cousins and Gay some help.

I'm not usually one to make excused but given what's transpired over the course of this season I would fully expect the players to lack mental fortitude and be frustrated.

We had such a great start with chemistry building and the team building an identity and then Cousins goes out and management fires the first successful coach since Adelman. Now all the positivity is gone and we're sitting here with a lame duck coach mired in a losing streak.

I get that they are paid millions of dollars and should be consummate professionals but these are truly extenuating circumstances. When have we ever seen management fire a coach that was on the uptick? Just when the players gets a wiff of success its ripped from them. I know I'm frustrated.

The departure of Malone suddenly doesn't take their control of their own play away. They're crying over something they still can control. All they have to do is make the choice and we're playing better.
