The team is, however, always looking to improve. One interesting young prospect who could be available as the trade deadline nears is Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Reggie Jackson. According to Basketball Insiders’ Alex Kennedy, the Lakers would have interest should he become available:
Sam Presti is a GM who doesn’t just let assets walk away for nothing, so he’d never just let Reggie Jackson go sign with another team in the summer and not match. I think he’ll trade him before the deadline and get something in return. I think the Knicks and Lakers are two teams that will show interest because they’d love to have Jackson as part of their long-term plan, but neither team has great assets to make a deal happen.
I would be okay with giving up the picks for the Lin deal dnp taking perk back only to buy him out so he can join a playoff team. Would make free agency much easier to fill out this team actually because of the small cap hold of his QO. We could hypothetically then go after a starting big and wing and then sign him back up to team with Randle, Nick, Kobe, our top pick, and the mini mle with these young guys who are getting seasoning now ... He's not a real 8 figure player but he's young and could be used well here.
It is just my opinion, but if we can make this happen and have roughly 25mil to play with in the offseason, I'm not opposed to exploring it just because it means you may be able to talk Monroe and Tobias into coming
