Ankle injury on an old, tall man.

Thankfully he's a lean guy. So, weight bearing conditioning would have started a while ago.

It would be nice if he would cowboy the F up, and go out there and play.

It certainly seems like it's way more serious than was initially reported.

I never thought the bulls would be looking at MDJ as their second best wing. At this point its hard to describe it as a championship wing rotation.
We saw niko and taj playing 3 minutes at the end of the warriors game.
That will have to supplement it because mdj rolling as ur second best wing isnt ideal or even servicable for a championship matchup.
A team with a stronger wing rotation will really hurt us there.

Why is this so shocking?

Dunleavy is a really good starter. And given how the cap works and how strong the rest of our positions are, it shouldnt surprise you that we have the smallest salary allocation to SF.

Yep. I mean he is lightning quick on defense normally. With a bad ankle, he's the next Scottie. Make it happen.

If he's been cleared and is healthy, he should play. No cowboying up or down or sideways needed.

I admit I am concerned. He had an MRI a few weeks back and we never heard the results. I don't believe anything our organization says when it comes to injuries.

Dunleavy should be an MVP candidate. With him we're one of the best teams in the league. With out we've lost a lot of games. Who would have thought a 6'9 and 146 pound SF who averages like 5 ppg would be so impactful LOL.

Fish explained years ago that one of our wing starters was going to be lower paid/transient fill in for a year or two guy.

He was correct, and as you said, MDJ fills that role really well.

Mike Dunleavy isn't a 'really good starter'.

He's our worst starter, and ideally a bench player, which he's been most of his career especially past his prime. Most (if not all) of the matchups we'll see in the playoffs will have a better player than Mike opposing him.

Last year he was thoroughly outplayed by another role player, Ariza, in the playoffs.

Its a long freaking time for an ankle injury being older or not. That makes me believe there is/was much more involved.

On what planet is MDjr a really good starter? He's an acceptable 5th starter.

Hopefully this pushes GarPax to make a trade for a legit wing - Arron Afflalo anyone?!?

Honest question: how many fifth starters on playoff teams are better than MDJ?
Atlanta- Carroll
Toronto- Vasquez/amir johnson
Washington-pierce
Chicago-MDJ
Cleveland-JR/Mozgov
Milwaukee-Middleton/illyasova/pachulia
Miami-chalmers
charlotte-Zeller

GS-C when bogut is out/Barnes
Memphis- Allen or Green
Portland- Kaman
LAC-Barnes
Houston-Monteijunas/ariza/beverley
Dallas-uhhhh chandler?
Phoenix-Tucker/Len
SAS-Green/Splitter
OKC-Roberson

I listed some teams with two or three because I don't honestly know who you would consider the 5th player. Also I may have included someone who is just starting because of injury. Someone can correct me.

But from that group I would say no one in the east is FOR SURE better. Pierce maybe still gives you a little more at this point than MDJ. Carroll is solid. I would take mdj over JR smith and probably all other 5th starters in the east.

In the west GS, Dallas, Memphis, SAS definitely better. Portland and Houston also probably. MDJ is better than phoenix and okc's 5th. Clippers- toss up.

Eh, gotta look at it from a team standpoint. MDJ is a fine starter for this team and for what he provides, which is 3pt shooting and spacing. When all our starters are playing, we're 12-3. Everyone is much more effective when he's on the court.
