A Moment of Clarity

Post#1 » by bondom34 » Fri Jan 30, 2015 5:00 am

I wanted to really title this thread "WOULD EVERYONE CALM THE **** DOWN?!?!!?" but figured I'd go a little easier. I just wanted to say this because the Thunder look awful right now and I don't think they make the postseason. That said, they started out 3-12, and are now 23-23 so they've been 20-11. They took what was far and away the worst loss I've seen them have in years last night 2 games after beating GSW. Now we've got a thread on firing Brooks, and everyone wants people traded.

Now, I'm on the couch watching LAL beat Chicago, whose coach mind you some people want over Brooks. Chicago just came off a win vs. GSW as well. They're obvioulsy in the playoffs, but just look at it at face value. LA hasn't won in I believe 9 games and is nearly as bad if not as bad as NY. The NBA is weird sometimes, and I have no idea what is wrong with the Thunder. I'm not saying I expect them to make the postseason, I don't expect them to win Saturday, and the way this season's going, I don't expect them to stay healthy. But sometimes a bad loss is just that, a bad, terrible, awful loss.

And as a semi-talking point, one thing I kinda would debate trade-wise if I were Presti is looking to re-trade Waiters, as strange as it seems. I don't think he can coexist w/ RJ, and I'd rather Jackson. Just a thought though.

I've been singing Relax for the last month

Honestly, if we get a healthy stretch I think we can take the eight seed, not that I'd expect a playoff series win but I'm hopeful to at least see playoff Russ again. I'm completely on board with flipping Waiters again, I still think Lamb is a better fit and similarly talented, but we'd most likely be taking a loss on what we gave up. Unfortunately it looks like Waiters is the man on the second unit now, it's unlikely we give up on that after a month so we've essentially pissed off RJ for no reason.

Its all good. We just need KD back sooner then later obviously.

Reggie really seems like a dark cloud on the team right now though, I would like to flip him and get some fresh blood that are enthused about playing here again.

Lets get King back on the phone as well and convince him to flip us Lopez for Perk haha.

7 games til ASB, 6 against good Western Conf foes...
After ASB there are a few pretty winnable games coming out of the gate, esp in the first 5-10.
Play bad in the 7 games before or drop a few right after...this thing gets dicey quick.

HOWEVER

Since Waiters was acquired with TPE, I don't think he can be traded before the summer. I'm positive he can not be aggregated with another player(s) and traded. Sure wish he could, I'd like to send him and Reggie to Denver for Wilson Chandler.

If this team had been completely healthy for the entire season, and playing at mid season form, I would still pencil in Saturday's game vrs the Grizz as a loss. If they won, I'd see that as icing.

Because he was acquired with the TPE there is no time restriction on trading Waiters. He could have been traded an hour later. He just can not be traded with any other player(s) until the off-season.

Thunder definitely have their work cut out, but can't see them not making the playoffs, and if they make it they absolutely will be a threat to win any series. People do need to relax, but not about brooks. Their offense is and has been a joke for some time. Perk should never play, ever. He's crushed Jones confidence, same with lamb. He plays waiters over Jackson despite waiters doing nothing to earn the minutes and Jackson doing nothing to lose them. Jackson has every right to be pissed. Also if Roberson can't contribute more on offense, he shouldn't be starting or playing. He's not THAT good on defense. Plenty of stuff is wrong, but can be corrected with the right roster mix up (getting any other big guy besides Perkins and getting a real 3 and D guy if they are married to that idea instead of just saying that Roberson is that guy). If not brooks at least gets fired you would hope and they can win it all next year

I never expected to win this game, Thunder have always had trouble winning in Memphis.

Even if the injuries had not occurred this year, if KD was in healthy in mid season form, I still would look at the schedule and call this game a loss.

I hoped they would keep it closer, but .................. they did not do that , they let it get away in the fourth.

Yep, this was the game to me they either turn it around or collapse....

I'm finally saying it, I'm done w/ Brooks. He's lost them I think.

I've seen nothing to tell me that.

They are still playing hard.

Somewhat, but all discipline is lost. And not much was there to start with.

Man, I don't see a way this turns around, trying to find a team I somewhat like who's in the playoff hunt so I can at least watch the postseason this year. Or could just root against teams.

I'd like to know what you guys saw, that got your hopes up , I've dreaded this game all week.

Hey, KD is not going to come back from injury, and be in top form. And Thunder are not beating the Grizz in Memphis, without KD at the top of his game, I don't care if Red Auerbach is coaching the team.

I was just happy that KD could play, PERIOD, much less be at top form. That was the only way Thunder had a chance in this game.

If ya wanna blame this game on Brooks, then I really think ya need to re-examine your expectations, especially with a KD who can't seem to stay healthy this year for any length of time.

I just expected at some point, a few things:
1. Just KD being on court could get some semblance of offense.
2. Someone could tell Waiters to stop.
3. Serge would be a bit better.

Honestly, there just is something that feels off about this team now, and I can't put my finger on it, but its there to me.

I didn't really expect them to beat Memphis, but i didn't expect them to look like such a defeated team the past few games.

Westbrook playing like trash.
Ibaka playing like trash.
Reggie and Waiters basically throwing away games while on the floor.
Durant can barely get into rhythm because he is in and out of the lineup with injuries.

We have a tough stretch to end the season too, so right now was the best time to catch up. Making the playoffs is a pipedream now.

I add, I think Waiters is having a Josh Smith effect. Same thing w/ Smith going from DET to HOU, old team starts winning, new one losing.

OK they are a game out of 8th, with a few teams ahead of them starting to slip a little. The suns can't beat good teams and okc has a cake walk of a schedule in march. 30 games left. KD and Westbrook starting to finally look full strength. Anyone think they are missing the playoffs still? Legit shot to catch either Dallas or clip show in my opinion okc about to get on a roll.

I'm still not confident at all. They did this before, got within a game, then fell back. Not til I see it.
