Re: Chris Bosh & Dwyane Wade Selected As All Star Reserves
Next season, at least, we are going to have three NBA All-Stars: Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Hassan Whiteside.

The question to Charles is... How many titles these guys have? Charles, how many titles do you have?

What a dick. No wonder Wade don't f*** with him no more.
Diss? He was accurate though. Gabrielle Union hasn't won anything, partly because of her acting talent and because of the quality of movies she's been in. Bad Boys is probably the best one she's been in, and her role could have been filled by anyone. She made the comparison between her and Meryl Streep as a parallel to Chuck and D-Wade. The only thing Chuck never won was an NBA Championship, and it wasn't because he was on bad teams or wasn't really that good. Comparing Barkley's resume to Wade's is nowhere near comparing Union's resume to Streep's.
That, I feel, is what he was getting at. Let's not sit here and assume Gabrielle Union's acting resume is all that great just because we don't like Charles Barkley. He was way off base by intimating that Kyle Korver should have made the All-Star team over Dwyane Wade, but Gabrielle Union trying to imply that the gap between her and Meryl Streep was in any way similar to Wade and Barkley is laughable at best. It wasn't, and Barkley shone a light on that.
What was he supposed to do, give her a pass because she's Wade's wife?

I think Wade is a future Hall of Fame! 3 Titles with different players and coaches. When healthy, he is still one of the most efficient Guards in the League. That brought him back to the All Star Team. That more than his actual playing this year.

Well, she was actually comparing Barkley to Kenny Smith but I get your point. Still, even though I understand Barkley's role in that show is not to provide serious analysis but instead bring comedy, it's obvious that he has an agenda with Wade and Heat fans.

You have some good posts but saying that GU haven't won anything because of her acting talent is like saying Halle Berry won for her role in MONSTERS BALL...or Denzel for TRAINING DAY....It hasn't been GU time..YET..IMO
Charles is a good sound bite, I don't watch him, I listen to him....He has a perspective that I'll never relate to but sometimes he sounds.....SILLY....but we love em

I know that you like Charles as a player. That's reasonable he was excellent especially given his size but you're defence of his stupid remarks is now a little OTT. He was a great player who didn't win a championship that's a fact. He is a poor studio celeb who maintains his place by making ridiculous comments not founded in fact. He has razzed on DWade for many years and now needs to diss a non basketball celeb who was simply defending her husband.
D Wade does deserve a place at the all star weekend - he is a big name in the game, he sells jerseys, seats and the sport and despite injuries which hamper his performance he is still a top 15 scorer, he has a great %, his assists are good, his steals are good etc... The all-star weekend is a circus, it needs stars (which is why Barkley has been back post career to "select" a team etc...) Neither Brandon Knight nor Kyle Korver excite the league-wide fan and until they do they should be happy to watch or in Korver's case shoot the 3.
Barkley has become a clown.

*your - Good Lord, man. Reading is fundamental. I'll even quote myself.
He was way off base by intimating that Kyle Korver should have made the All-Star team over Dwyane Wade, but Gabrielle Union trying to imply that the gap between her and Meryl Streep was in any way similar to Wade and Barkley is laughable at best.
I'm not sure why you felt the need to repeat me as though I didn't believe Wade deserved to be an All-Star. Of course he does. I think you (and perhaps others as well) completely missed my point. I fundamentally disagreed with Chuck on that. But do you remember Union's actual words?
[tweet]https://twitter.com/itsgabrielleu/status/560956944991940609[/tweet]
It's pretty clear she was associating a champion's words with validity as though what Chuck had to say lacked that due to his rings. She then went on to attempt to equate Chuck's criticism of Wade with her hypothetical criticism of Meryl Streep "even though [she never won anything]." That's as clear a comparison as can be. Chuck called her out on that. Chuck laughed off the parallel because in truth, the gulf between her and Meryl Streep is substantially wider than the perceived gulf between Barkley and Wade.
Chuck is much more qualified to talk about Wade than Union could ever be to talk about Streep. This isn't about whether I like Chuck as a player or not. Everyone should. He was an amazing player, a perennial All-Star, unbelievable rebounder, NBA legend, and a Naismith Hall of Famer. Here, I'm able to criticize his analysis of an All-Star pick while making it clear that he was on point in dismantling Union's argument. I'm not going to let my love for the Miami HEAT blind me to that, as though anyone allied with Miami can do or say no wrong. I refuse to do that.
Union might have been "sticking up for her man," as some would say, but Chuck's comments exposed the holes in her tweet's armor. That's it. We can talk about Chuck's unusual dislike for the Miami HEAT all we want. I've criticized that multiple times as it is the objective thing to do, but that doesn't mean everything he says about anything HEAT-related is off-base. That's where the homerism comes in. I can't subscribe to that idea.
For once, could we remove the homer goggles with Charles Barkley? He's actually right here.

Your blind love for Barkley seems to let you miss the complete hate and trash the man has said about Wade and the Heat for the last 5 years.

Charles Barkley has been bashing Wade and the HEAT for years. **Yawn**. Any other news?
