If we give Atlanta a lottery pick, I would take a long, long break from this team. Every other team in the East has incentive to not make the playoffs. If we can't squeeze and claw our way into the 8th seed, I don't know if I can follow this franchise anymore.

no, but they are all guys rumored to be available and on teams rumored to have interest in lopez. and the guys who WERE made available to us can help (lance/hendo/marvin)On paper, we are still in it obviously but have you seen our schedule? Boston is right behind us. Detroit is still right behind us and who's to say those other teams won't make a win now trade that will significantly move them ahead before we do?
Boston is tanking. they dont want to make the playoffs. they certainly arent making a win now move, and have done the opposite their last few trades. detroit just lost jennings and has looked awful since. We are right there. if we make a move, no reason we shouldnt take it
I can understand the argument from a developmental standpoint but we are going to be an easy target in the playoffs. This isn't a team capable of forcing a seven game series. There is a huge difference.
for me if we make it and get swept losing all the games by 20 points it would still be worth it. for me seeing my team in the playoffs is an enormous positive, regardless of how they got their or how they fare. you think this is bad... things have been soooo much worse for this franchise. you think this is underachieving, we have underachived much worse. make the playoffs for me is ALWAYS a big deal. again i can understand if your a fan for say the past 15 years your view is different, but for me its not.Lamb, Jones are not low level prospects and both have qualifying offers in 2016. You can either keep them or decline them at that point. Lopez should be able to fetch us some future assets and contracts while Johnson could help bring us guys who could help us compete for this season and next season. That's the way I see it.
Lamb and jones are low level. neither projects to be near all-star talent. and if you decline them, whats the point of aquiring them in the first place? If lopez gets us an unprotected first thats one thing, so far ive seen nothing aluding to anyone offering that. The biggest problem this team has is lack of solid to quality role players around Joe. That's the biggest issue. Turning down Lamb who is 22 years old and has shown the ability to be a scorer off the bench on a rookie contract is a bit ludicrous. Yet, Reggie Jackson will be a free agent THIS summer and he is expected to be in the market for 30 million dollar contract. That's okay?
to me reggie jackson expiring is irrelevant. he helps us win now and since we would be under the tax if we traded lopez for him we could also send him out in a sign and trade and maybe get a pick for him. thats the prefect scenario... he helps us win, then he helps bring a pickBeing in the postseason parading around with a team that has NO shot to win a single damn game is nothing to be proud of. Come on now. We've only won THREE GAMES against playoff teams all season long. What kind of achievement is making the postseason? It doesn't change anything. We aren't going to be matched up with some overrated Raptors team. All the mojo of sneaking in and making noise is over. Alot would have to go wrong for Atlanta for us to even give them a fight with this current roster.
You can certainly say IF we make a deal, perhaps making it in as the 8th seed and competing in a seven game series could happen but guess what? We are staring at a potential 18-30 record this week and not a single trade has been made. We have a GM who doesn't seem to care that his 'ideas' have blown up in his face and doesn't even have the balls to make an open statement to apologize to fans that are subjected to this crap.
again, we could lose all 4 playoff games 100-0 and id still be thrilled we got in, even at the expense of a lamb or jones

•The Nuggets are still trying to pry Brook Lopez from the Nets with a package centered on JaVale McGee, according to Mannix. Still, Denver doesn’t want to put Ty Lawson, Kenneth Faried, Jusuf Nurkic or Wilson Chandler into any deal, Mannix cautions.
•The Thunder are willing to go deep into the luxury tax this season to acquire Lopez, the SI.com scribe writes. Oklahoma City is unwilling to give up any of its top present-day talent, nor will the team make a move that damages its future as the Thunder look for trade partners who are "desperate," an opposing GM tells Mannix.

So, we can't get anything from OKC or Denver but Lance Stephenson, Marvin Williams, Gerald Henderson was offered and King isn't interested.

What team could we ship Mcgee off to? I really want Afflalo from Den.
Okc deal is the last resort for a Lopez deal. I only do it if we have a guarantee from Minny that they will take Perkins for Thad.

Re: Woj: Nets/Hornets end trade talks for Joe Johnson for Stephenson, Henderson, Williams (UPDATE: Page 30)
Concerning the lotto pick(potential), I'm very pissed off due to the two factors involved.
1. We might miss out on the playoffs, that's horrible. To pay so much, to sacrifice the future of maybe 4-5 yrs? for this disastrous product we see in our team jerseys, that's unacceptable. IN the modern day eastern conf. nonetheless. Therefore instead of a "reward' or more like compensation for our awful season, we do not get a lotto pick in which in the NBA, the talent disparity is a real drop off, IMO, versus other sports thus not really improving the roster or fixing the glaring weaknesses or at least setting up for the future. instead we ....
2. Exchange our potential lotto pick with, guess what, the eastern conference leading ATL Hawks. The same team where we pry JJ and created excess cap space for them to sign another NETs missed target in KK. So we could go from top 10 to #29? something around that area. Now lets make this more worrisome by preparing ourselves for a ridiculous turn of events, god forbid, that our lotto pick ends up top 3... That's preparing for the worst and history has a sense of humor with us and lottery picks. Wasn't one of our lotto picks for Dwill ending up top 3 and oh yes, stop me if you heard it before, carelessly giving away 6th pick(which has 7 all star or rising players options) for Wallace?
for me, its extrememly imperative we make playoffs in terms of saving another potential disaster made by Billy King.
God hate NETs basketball, i'm convinced

I'm always a Lopez fan but I've been critical of him for the years rightfully so. His offense isn't the same impact as Plumlee with this system or group of players honestly. Plus he plays like ice cream so its beyond the time to move him for the better. McGee, if healthy can absolutely be a player for us in that his game isn't different from PLumlee and when given minutes, even Jordan has shown some signs of life. Bigs who let the offense come to them while cleaning boards, boxing out, playing defense and move like they are young and capable. So in theory, McGee should fit in IMO.
I'm not setback with Denver reluctance of a few, that's a given IMO. While i'm surprise Chandler is on their, Gallo wouldn't be a horrible consolidation nor did we see Affalo mentioned. IF we can pry Affalo and Javale, pull it....(did not look up #s)

Old Man Windrem is saying that he's getting inklings that if this goes to the deadline, salary dumps will happen. Mannix is reporting that neither OKC or Denver wants to give up anything, including the players we'd like, for Brook. This is probably why no deals have happened.
If we don't see anything happen, then after all star break I think that will be it for me regarding this team for a long time.

there is no reason for the charlotte deal to not happen. whether it is for brook or for Johnson.
Salary dumps are one thing, but i dont see how king achieves it. i think he will screw us dumping someone for a slightly worse contract for a worse player who might even be injured.
like johnson for eric gordon. we save 7 million but it doenst get us under the cap or tax and we get worse.

I feel the same way. The mismanagement of this team has somehow exceeded the level of delusion and has reached the lunacy stage.
I'm tired of wasting my time watching this terrible product that they have the audacity to call a professional team.

With Kemba out, Billy King should get on the phone and offer DWill for Lance.
How many wings do we have to allow dominate Bogs and JJ before he makes this trade? Lou Williams scored 25 points and went to the line 11 times while DeRozan scored 26 points and went to the line 9 times. You dont have to be a scout to figure out that we get outclassed on the wing. 20 FTs between two guys and their names arent Shaq and Kobe.
We need a good defensive wing and probably one of the best ones under 25 is available for nothing!!!!!!!!
I think this can be a good team if they just sure up the SG position. It doesnt matter if Lance isnt hitting his 3 because neither are Bogs, Anderson or Karasev.
If they decide to take these trash offers from Denver and OKC instead of getting the best player available in Lance then Im probably going to stop watching basketball.

I think Brooks value is as high as it's going to get now. King should be pushing to trade him this weekend.
Other GMs are probably waiting for. King to offer picks and they're all confused as to why they're not getting them. Maybe they don't realize we have none left to trade? Lol

They're not taking DWill and his contract to fill Kemba's position for 6 weeks and Deron isn't even healthy himself right now. They'd have $35 million invested in the pg position for the next 2 seasons after that. No one is touching Deron's contract without us attaching assets (plumlee and/or picks).
