Blow It Up

Post#1 » by pipfan » Sat Jan 31, 2015 4:45 am

1-this is not a reaction to last night; I posted a Bulls' blow it up on the trade board 10 days ago
2-I never understood the "title or bust" argument from fans. Of course, winning a title is great, but I have been with the Bulls since the summer before MJ's rookie year (Olympics swayed me-was a Bucks' fan before) but I didn't get any checks from the team for the titles. It was an awesome run-truly special. But if this team won a title it wouldn't really improve my life any. If we could trade Dunleavy for LBJ to win a title I wouldn't watch-I hate the guy (sports fan hate, of course, not hate hate) and wouldn't want him on my team.
3-only one team wins a title-this team could (even though our inconsistency is terrible) so measuring a season on title or bust seems unrealistic
4-I watch the Bulls for entertainment-I love hard working guys who seem to have character like JB and Noah. I loved Rose before, but now I don't enjoy watching him play as much. Point is, I get value from each game (more for playoff games, but regular season too)-I enjoy the scrappy, fighting teams who win. I also love to watch teams like Atlanta or SA, who play the right way.
5-I KNOW this won't happen-we might make a deal for a wing, but the FO would be stupid to do anything but ride with this club. If they get hot, they could roll to the Finals.
6-Since our opinions don't matter to the FO, I am just stating what I would like to see happen. Just wondering if anyone shares my opinion-since this board has some smart fans
7-my point is, I would love to blow up this team and build around JB, Niko, Dougie and the return from the trades of Rose, Taj, Noah, Gasol, Dunleavy and Brooks
8-I have deals in mind, but that isn't the point-is anyone else not enjoying this team. I am not talking about a game like last night and a reactionary "trade these bums"-I don't enjoy the mix like I have in the past, and I would love some young, tough guys and a fresh start
9-Finally, again, I realize this is pointless outside of us sharing opinions-so please don't respond with "they would never blow this team up"

It's a transitional year. Not the time to blow it up.
For love, not money.

How many lines of blow does a person have to do in order to come up with a thread like this? Measuring the team with a title or bust mentality is awful, so let's assume that we busted already? The front office shouldn't trade for our biggest need, a SF? We could ride to the Finals as is, which means this is the perfect time to trade everyone? I'm in it for the regular season wins if the guys play the right way? This is a crack induced pipe dream that lacks any coherent thought or rationality... except for the whole "title or bust" mentality OP observes on the board. Except we haven't had massive pressure to win a title until this year. And it's not title or bust, it's basically 3rd round or else Thibs will be under heat from the front office... and they might still hang on to him. So even that is a misnomer.
