Woj: Josh Smith finally finds the perfect fit with the Houston Rockets

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Sun Feb 1, 2015 1:09 am

"I feel like the emotions and fire is back for me," he said. "I had a lot of fun in Atlanta. We were winning and successful for a majority of years that I was there. Then I fell into a dark hole, because when you're a player in this league, and you see the journey and road it takes to have success, become part of a pretty good team, and then you go back down … Well, you appreciate this more."

When Josh Smith walked out of the Pistons' practice facility for the final time on Dec. 22, he could hear the angst of his father, his family. Oh man, Josh was going to get it again, and they loathed it for him. As everyone was winding up to take their shots again, he assured them all: "This is a blessing." And so far, he's been right. Josh Smith has made himself matter in the NBA again, made himself fulfilled, but just don't expect to see him in your timelines telling you all about it, running back all the scorn in real time. He's playing winning ball again, having a blast, and will do with all the praise what he had done with all the criticism: Let it go, let it all go, and live.

“I don't agree with the world knowing my every move, my every step," Smith said. "I don't need to broadcast it. I grew up in poverty. My parents really had to work hard to put food on the table for my sisters and brothers. I don't see the need to take pictures of me on vacation, or with a new car. Kudos to the people who do it, I guess, but there are so many people who are struggling. It's a slap in the face to them.

Woj's articles are usually fluff pieces, he probably got paid by Smith's agent or something.

The Rockets haven't flourished with having him, they more or less stayed the same or maybe even slightly worse.

From third party perspective who gives a damn? You guys are way better off. Guy is a cancer.

Because I love him enough to know us being together wasn't good for him.

But really, I agree.

Well not as many wins as the Rockets would have had without him

I love Woj as a reporter who breaks big news, but when it comes to opinion articles he is merely dick riding his sources.

This article was cringeworthy. Hope he reads the comments on it to know how much everyone disagrees with him.

Indeed, he's found his perfect fit.

As a marginalized bench player who doesn't start and can't even sniff time in the fourth when his teams best front court player is down.

Well done, JSmoove, well done.

Watching him talk about success and describing his time here as a black hole, and remembering his absolute refusal to accept even a share of the blame for our failures. Remembering watching him stand around on the perimeter until we were forced to pass to him by his own inaction.

My god I hate that guy. Makes me sick to think about.

Seeing him play against the Pistons, I find this laughable. He played horribly as usual. Stupid shots, awful turnovers, couldn`t finish at the rim. He did have a few nice passes, but his impact was definitely negative.

But Woj A couldn't be Woj A without Woj B. Woj B is basically the rent he pays that allows him to be Woj A.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Pretty much this. He's a terrible analyst as well.

He pretty much operates as this: You give him a bone (a scoop) and he'll love you forever just like how he loved Dumars. But if you don't, he'll do everything he can to make you look bad. He's pretty petty but I still love Woj for his scoops regardless.

My article;
Josh Smith was a free agent, Joe Dumars needed a big splash so he paid Smith more then what he's worth in spite of him being a bad fit for the Pistons. This helped lead to Dumars' firing. Stan Van Gundy thought he could help him, he couldn't, so he eventually waived him. Smith then was free to join the teammate he should've all along. Dwight Howard.

CHRBAL

If the Rockets can deal with the all around inconsistency (look at his various numbers on any game log), I say have at it. If they are happy with that level of "production" on a team trying to win a ring, great. He's going to completely disappear in a playoff game, they want to take their chances on which game that ends up being that's their deal.

Sure there is. Here are a few options:

Exhibit A, A bench

Exhibit B, the unemployment line
