Tank hard @NY Sunday Feb 1st 11am Pacific Time

Post#1 » by aaron_gray » Sun Feb 1, 2015 11:01 am

D-Day is here, and after an exciting win that briefly allowed the soldiers a moment of peace and serenity, they are back on the tank, grinding towards the #3 spot. Multiple other tanks have faltered recently. The Sixers have looked dangerously good in their last 3, with their most recent game being a close loss to the hottest team in the nba. The Wolves have been bolstered by the return of several veterans, with Ricky Rubio scheduled to comeback monday. The New York tankerbockers, once considered to be the favourites to to nab Okafor in the draft, have seen traitors Langston Galloway and Carmelo Anthony drive their tank into a ditch. However, this game becomes even more important when you consider the fact that zen tanker Phil could shut down Melo after the all-star break. If the Mitch plays his cards right, Stanley Johnson could very well be in a Laker uniform next season.

For the Lakers, a new era has begun. Jordan Clarkson and Robert Sacre have both entered the starting lineup, with Ed Davis moving into a reserve role. Clarkson, the rookie, is a raw guard with Westbrook like speed. He has slowly emerged as the team's best perimeter defender, and after gaining some valuable exp playing gym leaders, will now have the opportunity to train against a wild pidgeot. Veteran starters Jordan Hill and Wayne Ellington are prime candidates to be traded. Hill has shown a whole new side of his game this year while Ellington has exploded the last 2 games. Last year, Mitch swapped veteran Steve Blake for Kent Bazemore. A similar trade may be coming this way.

Melo is already doing exactly that.

Phil, Fish, Lin etc. etc.

Kelly was recalled from the D-league on Saturday, so he's probably going to play. Idk if he's still going to start though.

I love this board.
On Harden being MVP of this season ( I don't even like Harden much)

This game is a must tank. We are only up .5 on Orleans for the 4 spot. Difference in 4 vs 5 for keeping the pick doubles.

You forget SF is a need too so we have to our top pick on either a PG, SF, or C.

We have a need at every single position. Take the best player available.

Red flag that dude... DeAngelo Russell is wayyyy better than him. Russell is a better shooter, passer and defender already, and with all that we know there will be an adjustment period for lead guards but he's miles ahead of Mudiay.

Who has actually seen Mudiay play?

It's cool to have an opinion, but I try to reserve those of the emphatic variety only to those situations where I've actually seen a guy play in real competition a handful of times.

I hope you have the Chinese league pass.

I'm with you though DEEP, if they get a top five pick, in my opinion they HAVE TO go big.

Towns or Turner will do. As tantalizing as Russell is, at this moment right now, I'm taking Myles Turner over him (if Towns and Okafor are off the board).

So with that theory, one that is perpetuated and propagated throughout this mismanaged league, I guess you'd draft a 6'9 PF with short arms if that player was the best available, huh?

I guess you also think Orlando should've kept Chris Webber to play alongside Shaquille O'Neal instead of acquiring Penny Hardaway. Chris Webber was clearly the best player available, right?

blah, blah. blahh..

There are no PF with short arms that we'll have to question with a top-5 pick this draft.

Usually those that say "best player available" are stubborn in their thinking, not realizing that there are ALWAYS exceptions.

I'm pretty sure, at this point, I'd take Myles Turner over Russell even though Russell could be the better player long term. Quality bigs making under five million dollars a year are just so, so, so, so very valuable in this league, and the Lakers have a HUGE need for Turner's defensive abilities.

I could change my mind later, but Turner over Russell is like choosing rookie Marc Gasol over rookie Westbrook ...

... Lakers NEED good bigs.

My problem with Turner is that I'm still identifying if it's an unorthodox playing style, or some health-related issues. The way he gets up and down the court, the way he stays hunched over, doesn't seem like he moves around too well. Can't figure out if it's a leg, hip, or back thing, but he has everything the new NBA looks for in a big... good stroke, length, rim protector. Still assessing whether he can maintain durability when he adds muscle.

Man this always happens. Hill in trade rumors ends up getting injured. This team is so damn fragile...
