Suddenly Kerr became a genius. hahaha

He was wrongly used here. He should have been HC, not GM.

And yes, based on his work with the Warriors this season, how can anyone not call his work genius?

The Kurt Thomas trade was a demand from $arver to save money. His biggest mistake he has ever made an an owner IMO.

Lets not forget alando Tucker and DJ strawberry. More of Kerr's mistakes . Completely wasted picks. Like others have said Kerr is not good at talent evaluation but he is obviously good at connecting with players and coaching them.

High quality team, top assistants (Gentry&Adams)
GSW is a high passing team and play a deep bench... guess what? this is what Gentry did it in 09-10
GSW is a over agressive defensive team, stopping PNR and defending the rim tirelessly... guess what? this is what Thibbs was known for (Adams was his pupil)

Yeah, I think it's pretty safe to not call him a genius... at least not yet.

Who do you think hired guys like Gentry and Adams? It was Kerr.

Kerr said the first thing he wanted to do after getting the job was hire the best assistants that he could find. That's genius.

Oh, now I see your point.
This a freakin' genius stuff, get credited for somebody else work.

Kerr always wanted the best on his staff. That's why he wanted D'Antoni to hire Thibs because he wanted D'Antoni to have the best on his coaching staff.

I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE TRADE THREAD, NOT AROUND THE NBA
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

He also signed Frye for cheap, traded for JRich and drafted Dragic. Grant Hill too.

There is not a GM in any sport who has a perfect tract record.

RoLo wasn't a bad pick, Suns just didn't know how to use him because they didn't know what defense was and that's exactly what Lopez brought to the table.

Maybe. Kerr did kind of admit he made a mistake in drafting him over players like Hibbert/Ibaka/DJordan though.

Ibaka would have been terrible if he was coached by our coaching staff. They would have tried to turn him into Frye 2.0. Hibbert and Jordan would have been labeled busts here as well imo.

Not sure if you are laughing in disagreement or laughing in agreement with the comment.

Either way, we can't get anything at all for Mr. Feet Hands. I wouldn't be opposed to dumping him for nothing though because he has a pretty dead attitude, especially since Shav got traded.

I agree. It was just so damn funny, beyond terrible, now that's bad!

Trade deadline is 18 days away, February 19

Also soon will be the day that vets are bought out to allow them to make a playoff push (Amare and a few others I am sure)

Will be interesting

I have a feeling Ryan does something

WeekapaugGroove wrote:So suns got 5 games until the break and trade deadline. If the suns are still in the 8 spot on February 10th do you guys want to see a win now type trade? Or do you want to see guys like green, it, plumlee or even maybe Goran traded for future assets and to open up some minutes for the young guys?

I'm leaning towards a future type move. I'm still rooting for them to make the playoffs but don't want to see them mortgage any of the future because I can't see this team beating golden state in a series even if they get in. Goran is the real wild card because he would fetch some real value in a trade. I love him and prefer they resign him but of they aren't comfortable paying him what he'll get on the open market or of his agent is telling the team he's going to seriously look for a team to play him at the point I wouldn't kill the suns for trading him.

I want all in on the future.

I don't think limping into the 8th seed because of OKC's injuries and getting stomped by GSW would be rewarding. It might also inspire Sarver to want this roster to stay the same because of that "success." And I think it's a horrible idea to max or near-max our two PGs. We should trade Dragic to HOU for Jones.

I wish we'd have let Bledsoe take the QO, let him walk next year or sign & traded him, and then maxed Dragic instead. But it is what it is.

I want IT gone. He can't work on a team with bad defense. He'd work well on a team that could compensate for that, like CHI or HOU. And just aesthetically, I don't like watching him play.

Rolo is proof that you just have to be patient with big men. I think that bringing in Gortat also stunted Rolos growth. You sometimes have to pick the player you want to develop and let the other opportunities go by. The Suns have assets that they can move right now, but at some point they are going to have to thin the herd if they want to let the best players develop.

Tough choices ahead.

Comon. Who else have they tried to turn into "Frye 2.0." (and don't say Markieff, because they are working at getting him to play closer to the basket, not farther away). Just because you repeat something alot that is not true, will still not make it true.

Markieff Morris needs to turn to a defensive player similar to Draymond Green and the Suns will significantly improve.

However Sarver was against it.

Kerr was also the one that wanted the D'Antoni to hire Thibs to improve the defense.

Kerr has always cared about defense, unfortunately for him, the Suns as a franchise don't and that, along with the fact that Sarver wasn't willing to give him a raise, was rumored to be the reason why he left.

I remember we were considering Chandler in the summer of 2009, and I believe we were thinking of trading Ben Wallace's contract for Chandler. Chandler wasn't cleared to play or something, or our front office just decided not to go for it.
Amare-Chandler frontcourt would have been huge. Could have beaten LA...

Medical staff had a look at Chandlers toe and decided it wasn't gonig to hold up so they didn't sign off on it. Chandler/Amare front court would've been absolutely beasting. Although there was also a lot of talk about Chandler and Amare having beef.

Edit, I got confused with the Thunder wanting to trade for Chandler.

Yup. It could have been Nash & Chandler instead it ended up being Dirk & Chandler in 2011.
