Link? This is news to me.

During their run to the WC finals last year Westbrook put up 27-8-7 in 19 games. That's Lebronesque numbers right there.

Durant would win a title with either the Raptors or Wizards - if he wants to win he's going to leave OKC

I feel this is the year OKC needs to blow it up - build around Jackson and whoever else you can get for Westbrook/Durant. They never make any significant changes and have really blown a great opportunity with these two guys on their team. They will probably lose these two for practically nothing for another run that'll end in disappointment again next year

I'd be frustrated with them too. Westbrook and Thomas are chuckers; Westbrook mitigates his chucking ways somewhat by his all-around game, but it's still got to be frustrating for Durant who happens to be a ridiculously efficient scorer.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

While YES that was a HUGE mistake on their part I wouldn't say they completely messed up then...

Because they CONTINUALLY mess up.

Every off season Presti just sits on his hands and hopes that somehow Durant and Westbrook can carry the team on their shoulders with absolutely no attempts to better the roster....not by trade and not in free agency. Outside of good DRAFTING and talent scout I would say he's a horrible GM.

You take a look at how MIA was with LBJ + Wade they brought in a ton of veterans to FULFIL ROLES and provide leadership, help implement team strategy/dynamics, composure and stability in the locker room. Presti seems oblivious to this yet it something the Spurs are masters of this with ancient stars.

OKC would be at an entirely different level of Presti did likewise. Why not move Lamb, Adams, PJ3, heck maybe even Ibaka depending on what comes back. The window for those 2 to win is NOW but Presti just picks his @ss and does nothing. It would be scary if they actually had players that fit roles and vets to help guide them through their growth instead of relying on them to figure it out themselves. You can almost guarantee both guys bolt the moment they can barring a major move or series of moves.

Presti = by far the most overrated GM in the league.

Interesting. It's becoming clear that KD and Russ will probably reach their peak away from each other.

Russ is more frustrating to watch of the two, but he's still a superstar. We'd have to gut our team to get him, so we wouldn't be the best fit. However, if you let him run wild on a team full of shooters and defenders, it would be like an upgraded version of the Iverson Sixers.

Is it really Westbrook or Jackson that's the problem, or they just don't have enough depth/vets? The foundation is there, but they haven't been able to put the right players around them.

Lebron

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

To be fair, although OKC was lucky enough in 2007 to get the #2 instead of #1, they did draft Westbrook and Harden in the following years. That's 3 superstars in 3 straight drafts, when teams struggle to draft 1 superstar in 10 years.

That being said, you can't really defend how Presti has handled his roster ever since.

Presti and OKC Ownership has **** the bed, and lost their chance to win a championship.

Westbrook and Durant will end up leaving, and that's that.

Should've paid to keep Harden, should've gone into the Salary Cap to win, and win now. They've lost their chance now.

It's still debatable how superior that is to the Cleveland model of passing up great players with absurdly high picks.

I don't think you really want to build a team around Westbrook. He's amazingly athletic, but once that starts to wind down towards his late 20s, he's going to be exposed a lot more as a "inefficient chucker" rather than a franchise cornerstone. Athletic small guards are a real gamble to build around. Reminds me a little bit of how teams built around AI always ended up having some difficulties in the playoffs, especially when AI (on the rare occassion) wasn't hitting shots. D-Rose is another example of how a guy can just lose athleticism and go from MVP/MVP candidate, to a run of the mill star player, no better than any of the other top 10-15 guards in the league. To give up two assets, our two "franchise players", for a less efficient single "franchise player" seems like a waste of assets. A package of Lowry + Derozan + picks might get the conversation started for Durant, if you're going to go that route.
