2 years 8 million is what I am hearing.

That is kind of surprising. This makes Nick the 5 highest player on the roster. Plus, it leaves the Thunder 8 million under the Lux Tax for next season.

I think this sends a clear message that the Thunder still believe in Nick as a player. He is Ibaka's backup for the next couple of years. I guess the hope is that McGary turns into that backup C.

Teams might have wanted Collision's contract. This might be a way for Presti to keep Collison and tell teams to bug off.

2 years $7.5 million for Nick. An average of $3.75. This leaves the Thunder with about $8.5 million to play with before the Lux Tax kicks in.

I'm assuming they're gonna be in the tax. Otherwise this is just a flat overpay, loyalty or not. If they cost cut elsewhere for this, its bad. If not, cool, I'm all for it.

They shouldn't be in the tax with the cap presumably rising. I think we got a decent deal. Nick may be rusting but he still does the small things on the court and provides leadership for a team which lacks one. Hes a big body which is really important considering we have 2 6'10 soft jump shooters.

The Lux Cap will be around $81 million. Signing Nick at around 3-4 million gives the Thunder about $8 million to play with until they hit the tax. With Jackson, Perkins, and Smith coming off the books that leaves 3 roster spots as of now that will need to be filled.

I think this next year is a GREAT year to use the full-mid level exception. Because that is 3 years at 5 million per for a nice role player in the new salary cap over $100 million.
