I wouldn't. Maybe Ross, Hansbrough and Stiemsma for Taj.

I think Ross would be a nice Thibs player. Casey just lets our guards chuck away but he'd thrive under Thibs more structured offence .

We need high energy players and Ross looks like sleepwalking when playing. Maybe Snell for Ross would be a good deal.
But Taj... no.

Taj for Harris and Ben Gordon makes sense for both parties.

Just chiming in from the outside looking in (Suns fan).
I agree with your comment. Considering the chance Harris is gone this summer, it would be a mistake to turn down a chance to get Gibson. His contract isn't too bad and he brings some vet experience.

Orlando might get offers with better movable assets but that doesn't appear to be what they need right now.

Ross has nice upside and can stroke the three. The past two years he takes about 5 a game as is at 39 and 37%. He would spread the floor. He also has some bounce in his step and could help on the break

I don't know why Toronto would do it but I'd be all over that.

If we get his bird rights in a trade, Afflalo is a guy I'd want also.

Because the Raptors need a big who can score, Taj to me seems like a perfect fit. He's a former college teammate of DeRozan too so I think the chemistry would be good right away. As for Ross , he's streaky at times but our offensive 'schemes' are a joke and Casey lets our guards run wild. Ross under Thibs (or anyone else lol) would flourish. His one big downside is that he's pretty soft..not great at finishing after contact. This trade makes both teams better IMO.

As per fans, every coach except Pop and his disciples have bad offense. It says more about the players and how teams are built than the coach.

You cant move Pau that lightly.

There are serious ramifications to moving a vet out (of his caliber especially), after he chose us over OKC and the Spurs.

This organization wants value-contracts. You dry up that pipeline if you deal players like Pau after they've bent over a bit to play for us. And given us tons of minutes.

How is trading Taj more palatable as a signal to possible free agents. A long time player, who has shown loyalty, hard work leading to improvement, consistency, and oh by the way great results on the court. What signal is trading that player sending to possible future players?

It isnt sending any signals.

Its Taj Gibson we are talking about here. Versus a first ballot HOF in Pau Gasol.

Please.

The notion that we shouldn't trade Taj because it would send poor signals to FA's is laughable. Taj Gibson is a decent PF. If a true HOF player like Paul Pierce can get traded -- I'm pretty sure we can part with Taj with out repercussion.

I'm not saying he couldnt be traded, although i wouldn't. I was asking a question directly in relation to the idea that trading Pau would send a poor message. My personal opinion is that a if either of those trades actually sent a message that the trade that had the most deleterious affect would be the Taj Gibson trade, specifically because of the loyalty question. If Paul Pierce could be traded out of Boston where he had spent his entire career, why cant Pau be traded from Chicago where he has spent approx 13 weeks?

Cause Pau took less to go to CHI than to stay in LA. He was sold on the fact that he'd be a contributing member of a title contender. The NBA is a small community..Good luck getting another FA to give you any discounts knowing that they might be traded 50 games in

Because Pau Gasol took a pay cut to come here. And because contracts like that are much more important to a kinda-contending team than a fully rebuilding team like Boston which let go of Paul.
For love, not money.
