Woah! Did not expect that until a new coach was named. Wonder who will be helping Borrego out? This really tells me a new coach will probably be hired soon.

the optimist in me sees Woj's tweet and noticed skiles is a candidate, meaning sure he'll be interviewed and is tagged the early fav, but he's still only 1 choice. Gotta pray Malone and Karl get interviews too. Hopefully they're interested.

I prefer to finish the season with Borrego, we're not going anywhere, and there is no reason to rush a coaching change.

yes, search when other teams have all fired their coaches so we have to compete with 5 other teams for the best coach when we could negotiate now for the best coach available (because let's be honest, anyone who is fired this year I doubt we'd want, except Thibs and he'll probably go elsewhere).

Not sure why everyone hates Skiles. I can get behind the hiring. I know he's a bit of a hard ass but I think that's what we need.

I agree 100% about not holding out for Thibs. We are unlikely to get him, and there are plenty of guys available now.

As to Skiles, my concern is that he has no patience for anyone who isn't as gritty as he was as a player. That is an effective approach for some people, but it's ineffective for a lot of people too. And it's his job to get the most out of all of our players, not just the ones who live up to his ideal of mental toughness.

Scott Skiles has been fired 3 times mid season and has an awful past with getting alot with his players etc. I love me some Skiles as a player but as a coach not so much. And no way Hennigan is leading the charge on Skiles to be the HC. No way!

At least it's done. Best of luck to JV in the future. Very nice guy, but not a head coach. He did develop some of our guys, but he has no other skills as a head coach.
As for Skiles, well, he has been successful and I do like some of his vibe but there has been a trend with him wherever he has gone and that's not good. I hope we wait for the possibility of Thibs or look at Malone or even Karl.

I would have rather kept JV for the rest of the year if we hire Skiles.

Concerns regarding Skiles:

1. Hasn't had long-term success anywhere.

2. Previous fan bases have turned on him quickly.

3. Not really known for developing young talent.

3. There's a good chance he'll end up tarnishing his Magic legacy.

I mean, yeah he could end up coming in and doing a great job...but he doesn't have a history of doing so elsewhere. Nor has he ever left on good terms anywhere (gone in-season each time), or even made it 5 years with any team.

Sigh... Well I hope everyone is finally happy... Couldn't really stand much more of the round the clock complaining...

I just hope this doesn't lead to us losing Hennigan aswell... I'm betting this is not something he wanted to do. I hope it works out like most on here are prophesying.

I still don't get what everybody is in a hurry to get to, with a team I consider to be incomplete. But ok, I guess we'll see.

I'm extremely luke-warm on Skiles for the reasons everyone else has already listed. I certainly think he would improve us on the defensive and discipline end.

However, I think his hiring would likely mean Tobias is gone. I remember Tobias had a rocky time earlier in his career playing under Skiles.
