Young QB that could be the next greatest?

Post#1 » by inquisitive » Mon Feb 2, 2015 11:31 pm

Which QB outside of the usual suspects, do you guys seeing as the next Montana or Brady or Manning to lead his team to a Super Bowl in the near future? My pick would be Andrew Luck at the top. He got to start right away as a rookie and put up great numbers and led his team to the AFC title game already in his 3rd year. This kid is really special. Any others?

I think Cam Newton has the ability. He seems to have a great all round game so give him some weapons and he could become elite

Luck is the easiest pick. He's already putting up monster #s and the team around him isn't even that great. And he's already better than Manning in the playoffs. Wilson is good but he is really more this generation's Roethlisberger, making clutch plays to win late but relying more on his D and running game.

Wilson has put up very good numbers and usually performs well in the postseason. Much better than Luck in that regard.

Luck and Wilson. Cmon, make it a little more difficult. Anyone can choose those 2. One is on the way, and the other has already been to 2 superbowls. Im goin with the Raiders QB Derek Carr. NOW THATS A PICK!

Did Carr actually show any improvement over the season like Bridgewater did? If you had to go with a rookie, I'd think Bridgewater has more potential at this point.

My money would be on Russell Wilson. I'm intrigued by Derek Carr, what he does well is what teams want QBs to do well.

Luck. Bridgewater and Carr also look interesting as well once they further develop and get some weapons to throw to.

His accuracy is a glaring problem tho. Some of it could've been being behind a bad OL however, but I've seen him miss throws that he should've made easily.

If we're talking about "outside of the usual suspects" and I would consider Luck and Wilson to be the definition of the usual suspects, then I'd say:

1) Cam Newton
2) Kaepernick
3) Stafford

I think Newton has the best skills, Kaepernick has shown that he can be at the level of a Wilson/Luck but consistency and decision making still leaves something to be desired and Stafford has the best arm in my opinion, but still needs to not turning it over.

Honorable mention goes to Tannehill who could easily surpass Kaepernick and Stafford on my list with a strong 2015 season and/or a weak season by either of those guys.

Wildcard: Jimmy Garappolo. Hasn't shown anything special yet, but I think he has a unique opportunity to be groomed behind Brady for 1-2 maybe even 3 more seasons and take over a la Aaron Rodgers with a more well rounded game and better understanding than the guys who get thrust into the starting lineup before they're ready. I think he could have been the 3rd QB off the board this year had he not gone into the draft last year. Just a hunch though, could be wrong.

I feel Derek Carr has the potential to be a great and possess a great arm. All he needs is weapons so he can progress. Raiders were the worst team on 3rd down conversions, also the coach made the play calls simple so that made the play call more predictable. The running will also help him to so that he doesn't have to convert on 3rd and long.

Luck, after from behind to tie and then OT shoot out to win against USC, star player. Think Luck will be in the league of Manning and Rogers.
Don't like Cam Newton. He is totally talented, but he is like a Dwight Howard, but does not have higher competitiveness.
