Cole and Rio are rookies? Whoa, that explains a lot!

Well it was Rio and Cole who blew last two possesions and a chance to win it, didn't they?

You do know that 2 earlier possessions are just as important as the last 2 don't you?

You do know we had a 10pt lead in the 4th that we lost in 2 mins don't you?

You wouldn't think of blaming Whiteside for not getting rebounds at the end of the game or blocking an extra shot would you?

I now see why we have different opinions.

Coach Spo must have given Chalmers and cole Everstones...

Whiteside isn't a rookie. You said we lost because of rookies. How many combined minutes did they get during that 2 min?

To sum it up, you are saying Napier, Ennis and TJ lost us this game?

Of course we have different opinions then, LOL

Lol the heat went 1-10 in the last 7 minutes of the game

If we don't suck in the 3rd, it's the first, or just bad execution down the stretch.

No I didn't say rookies lost us the game. I said playing rookies means losing games. There's a big difference.

Basketball is a team game. It's very rare that a player loses a game (though one can occasionally win a game). Players interact with each other, playing with rookies often makes everybodies game worse.

Still you carry on thinking that Cole lost us the game because he passed the ball oob. :noway:

Before I countinue with this discussion, I'd like you to elaborate two things.

1. "No I didn't say rookies lost us the game. I said playing rookies means losing games. There's a big difference."

2. "It's very rare that a player loses a game (though one can occasionally win a game)."

Thanks

I think HIF has a good point. We should expect to lose games when we play with rookies because they'll make mistakes based on inexperience. Napier, Ennis, and Johnson have had their ups and downs. We should expect more downs than ups as the season continues. That's what we got.

One thing though, I don't subscribe to Norris Cole's reasoning:

"They didn't score off it, so it allowed me to rest my mind a little easier. I'm not sure. I'll have to look at the film. They didn't score off of it, so it's not the reason why we lost the game."

I think a play like that does have an effect on the team beyond whether the other team scores or not. Basketball is a game where momentum is very important. A break in concentration like this gives the Wolves a jolt of adrenaline and the players on the Heat... well, you can see their reaction. For the players on the court it's even worse. I'm sure Whiteside felt stupid. I'm sure Cole did too. I can't even imagine what Bosh thought, but his frustration level is enormous.

There isn't much point to dwell on it though. We made more mistakes than this. We let them back into the game when we had them up against the ropes. Spo should definitely have called a time out before the inbounds. We had plenty. There were a lot of failures to get to that result.

It's not fair to lump it all on Cole, but his attitude (that I quoted above) is immature. He should take some responsibility. It isn't random when that happens. He did do that.

He should own it.

Don't you guys realize how bad Colemers are when we have compare them (combined over 10 years of experience) to rookies? It's comical and sad.

The thing is, Spo doesn't let the young players play through mistakes. The other night, he inserts Napier back in during the 4th qtr of this game, Napier turns it over, then BAM he subs Cole back in...The thing is, you have to roll with the punches. Napier, Whiteside, TJ, Ennis, let them learn and play through their mistakes. He's quick to sub in Colemers, UD, Granger, Williams and they will do the same dumb **** and get rewarded with more playing time. Young players on this team are doomed playing under Spo.

Lol you know what's funny? It's possible Spo didn't like that turn over and I get it, but he subs him for Cole who had the worse turn over of all time. It's hilarious.

Name a good young player Spo has gotten. Chalmers is the best one if you don't consider Whiteside to be on the list. Chalmers was selected in the second round. The second best young player he got to work with was either Wright or Beasley. Not sure about Wright, but Beasley couldn't stay in the league and Wright isn't even a starter, last I saw. Expectations should have context.
