I'm officially all-in for George Karl. Malone may be a good young coach -- and then again, who knows. I just don't think the Magic will roll the dice again on another young coach, and I don't think they should. There are very few coaches in the NBA that you can guarantee they will come in and do a good job and improve your team immediately. Karl is one of them, and he's available and interested. I think he's the perfect coach to teach our young guys the game of professional basketball, and he's a proven winner. Hire the man.

It's not often that you can grab coaches who have won Coach of the Year (2013) and coached a team to the Finals. He has the most accomplished resume of all the coaches mentioned and his offensive/defensive philosophies would thrive with this roster. His age is my only concern, but wouldn't be a deal breaker at all. Cool to see that tweet.

Age (Karl is 64) doesn't necessarily worry me, but that combined with very serious health issues has to be taken into account - otherwise Phil Jackson would still be coaching.

Hubie Brown: (Last coached @ 71)
Larry Brown: (Last coached NBA @ 70)
Don Nelson: (Last coached @ 69)
Jerry Sloan: (Last coached @ 68)
Paul Silas (last coached @ 68)
Chuck Daly (last coached @ 68)
Bernie Bickerstaff (last coached @ 68)
Rick Adelman: (66)
Phil Jackson (last coached @ 65)
Gregg Popovich (64)
P.J. Carlesimo (63)
Paul Westphal (last coached @ 61)

Not that PR should be the primary consideration, but for a team looking to energize a moribund and disappearing fan base, hiring George Karl would be a great move. It's been a while since Magic fans have felt belief, hope, or confidence, and we'd feel all of those things the second he walked out on the court for his first game. This team is losing market share to the new MLS team. Every Orlando City story is positive, and they're selling thousands of tickets and aggressively growing their fan base throughout the region while the Magic slide into the abyss. You reverse the trend instantly with a Karl hire.

Haven't read the thread and I'm sure I'm not the only guy that has said this but really don't Skiles would be a good fit for your team as he does not really work well with young players and seems to have a limited shelf life until his teams inevitably grow tired of his insanity and tune him out. Tobes and Skiles did not mix. He'll have you guys playing pretty hard and tough tho for minute tho.

We have solid potential, but I wouldn't say we are stacked with talent. Like SVG famously said "potential only means you're not that good yet." Only Vuc is a clear starter on most playoff teams, maybe Oladipo and Harris; not that that won't change in the future but that's the reality right now.

Karl has never really coached a young rebuilding team and right now his eagerness makes it seem like he doesn't have many options (possibly for health reasons)...those two things worry me a bit.

Either way I trust Hennigan will make the right decision. JV was the right type of coach for the early tank stage and now its time to move onto the middle stage.

Young talent= potential.

We're saying the same thing. If it makes you feel better I'll say we're stacked in potential.

It's coming out of our ears!

He has the same track record as Karl and is MUCH younger. Karl with his age and health, I don't like the idea of him coaching here. He's more fit for a team that's primed to compete. This team is 2-3 years away from doing that. He'll be in his late 60's at that point...

even if Karl doesn't have long because of age/health, at least you know he'll prep the team on how to play winning basketball. they'll learn a proper defense. they'll learn ball movement. that's all we need at the moment. we need someone to install a foundation.

although, i guess there's a case to be made of how much Karl's foundation lasted once he left Denver.

Seems like a perfect hire to me, pretty much assures it won't happen. I don't like any of the other names mentioned at all but Karl I would be excited about.

What scares me about Karl is him not having a job for so long. Like is there something there we don't know about? I know he has health issues. Is it just that or is there more?

Pop is 66, Karl is 63 so he is getting up there. I think it would be up to him to determine if he is willing to coach for the long haul.

Loved Chuck Daley and he wasn't a "spring chicken" either.

Why did they fire JV? I see no reason at all.
