Predict the 2015-16 Roster

Post#1 » by 5ertwenty » Wed Feb 4, 2015 10:42 am

Time to see if you can predict the Lakers 2015-16 starting five. Next season I'll announce the board member who got the closest, like the one we did last year. Winner gets a self-esteem boost.

Toolbox:
Lottery simulator: http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/lottery_simulator
DraftExpress Mock: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2015/
2015 Free Agents: http://hoopshype.com/free_agency_2015.htm
Lakers Salaries: http://hoopshype.com/salaries/la_lakers.htm

Good luck soothsayers!

I'll go..

- Accept team options on Clarkson, Black
- Decline option on Sacre
- Ed Davis declines option, becomes free agent
- Finish with the 4th pick, stay there in lottery - Houston finishes with 23rd pick, Orlando's (was ours) second round pick is 34th, becoming ours
- Decline team option on Jordan Hill, re-sign to 3 year extension starting at 5m later in free agency after missing out on Gasol, Aldridge, Love
- Draft:
4th - Karl Towns, C, Kentucky
23rd - Rondae-Hollis Jefferson, SF, Arizona
34th - Norman Powell, G, UCLA
- Free Agency:
Sign Rajon Rondo: 4 year deal beginning at 16.5M
Sign Thomas Robinson, similar deal to Ed Davis this season
- Bring back Ronnie Price, Wesley Johnson with a little bit of a raise in salary for each

Final 2015-2016 Roster:

PG: Rajon Rondo/ Jordan Clarkson/ Ronnie Price
SG: Kobe Bryant/ Nick Young/ Norman Powell
SF: Wesley Johnson/ Rondae-Hollis Jefferson/
PF: Julius Randle/ Thomas Robinson/ Ryan Kelly
C: Jordan Hill/ Karl Towns/ Tarik Black

Who won last year, Miles? I remember he's the only one who correctly had Lin.

Just had a look back at last years... you nailed 3/5 and predicted Boozer on Jun 16. Props. http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1319223&start=160#p40070852 Very few had us picking Randle.

The more I watch Rondo the more I get the sense he's damaged goods. Do not want.

Very realistic, but Rondo at that price is bad value.

At that price, Rondo is like a nice pair of sneaks that cost $4000. The shoes are cool and all, but definitely not worth it.

Also, I can't see Hill resigning at 15 mill over three years. Big men cost more than that.

I do like that it's realistic though.

I don't see us getting Love Aldridge nor Gasol, I'm betting on smaller pieces with obviously KD as the focus in 16. I'm thinking we add Dragic, draft either a big (Okafor or Towns) or Russell and sign a big like Monroe. I'm thinking they'll prefer the rookie contract, add bargain, core pieces and save the rest for that big 2016 spending. Again, this is assuming we miss out on Gasol, Aldridge and Love. I thinking each stays with their respective teams. I'm thinking we bring back Wes, I think Wayne will get more elsewhere.

Dragic/Clarkson
Kobe/Young
Wes/
Randle/Black/Kelly
Okafar or Towns/Davis/Sacre

plus whatever we get for Hill, who I think will be traded by the deadline, along with 2-4 draft picks, I'm thinking if we do in fact have 3-4 picks, we'll bundle the lowest 2-3 for a pick in the teens.
2014: Randle / Clarkson
2015: Russell / Nance
2016: Ingram / Zubac
2017: Top 3 Pick? Fultz, Ball or Bust

Dream:

Rondo
Kobe
Kawhi
Randle
Okafor (# 1)

Realistic:

Mudiay (# 3/4)
Kobe
Deng (Overpay)
Randle
Monroe (Overpay)

What I'd like to see:

Rondo (No more then 12 per)
Kobe
Deng (Middle of the road contract)
Randle
Okafor

We shall see, I can't wait!

I actually really like that roster, just with 22-23m in cap space, I don't know how we manage to get Monroe and Dragic. I think Monroe will get near max deal, he's had a huge year and in Josh Smith's void, he's been the man. Dragic will cost at least 7-9m a season, possibly more with the incoming CBA. I also would want to hold over almost 2 max spots so coming 2016, if Durant says "I want to play with ______," we can use that as bait as well.

We need to start building some pieces. Deng would be a good option for 6-8m a season.

I don't think we'll overpay Monroe and Deng to come here just to be middle of the pack 1st round early exit or just missed the playoffs type of team, the west is insanely stacked. Signing Deng messes up our possible steal of Durant, which I'm sure the front office has full plans to go for.

However, I can DEFINITELY see Rondo signing here, that does NOT make me happy at all considering his health, age and overabundance of pgs but I do think Kobe can actually talk him into signing here, I just hope it's not for anything beyond 10m, I'd rather have Dragic. I think the front office is gearing up for the 2016 free agency to have max money available for a clearly better pool of superstar potential. Although if they did steal Rondo for a bargain.

Rondo/Clarkson
Bryant/Clarkson/ROOKIE
FREE AGENT/Young
Randle/Black/Kelly
Towns/Sacre

I think if Rondo's healthy and was a bargain contract, I think that starting five with a wing sharpshooter to space the floor along with Towns to keep the paint open for Randle could attract someone like Durant. Depending on Rondo's contract, with Kobe's off, and new cap perhaps we could sign Durant to a max deal and a secondary budding star player, although I think Randle and Towns will mature into those all stars for Durant, at that point an aged Rondo could probably have done wonders for Clarkson's game but man that's so far away and long of a shot, but eh it's worth a type

Wanted to wait for the trade dead line for this...

I feel we are getting Rondo next season in FA
And select top 5 pick to be a Centre I don't know anything about the draft or names if we can pick up a C in the draft would be good.

C: Hill/Draft pic/ Sacre/Black
PF: Randle/Kelly.E.Davis/Boozer for the experience
SF: Wes/Young
SG: Kobe/Jennings
PG: Rondo/Clarkson/Price < I hope that will be our PG rotation

we need some one decent on the SF/SG perhaps Jennings??? ok by decent I mean someone who can help Kobe/swaggy with the scoring
My Go Team
Magic, Jordan, Pippen, Duncan, Shaq

My Counter
Stockton, Kobe, Bird, Rodman, Dirk

Today's Team
Luka, SGA, Tatum, Giannis, Wemby

IF we can't get Marc I wouldn't spend big money on anyone else and wait for 2016. Just don't feel as though there's any game changing lvl talent after Marc. Dragic would've been next on the list but its obvious Mia didn't give up all that asset to let him go. But even if Marc is the target I do still want mgmt. to draft Towns, from the sounds of his game he would be great for future to pair with Ranle and Marc couldn't be a better player to learn from for both Towns and Randle.

PG-Clarkson/1 year scrub

PF-Randle/R Kelly/1 year scrub

Dragic 15 mil Clarkson 8h,Price 1mil
Kobe 25mil-Swaggy 5mil, Wayne 1mil
Tobius 15mil-Wes 1mil
Randle 3mil- Montrez H 1.5mil-Kelly 2mil
Towns 3mil-Davis 1mil Sacre 1mil

This puts us at 76 mil..
Assuming the cap will go up to 71mil and release and re-sign Davis,Wes,Wayne, Price and Sacre to vets min or use MLE on them.

Let's do this Mitch!

Assuming a salary cap projection of 66.5M:

Russell (4.3M-assume 2nd overall)/Clarkson (845K)/Price (Vet min after cap space used up-$1.5M)
Bryant (25M)/Young (5.2M)/Ellington ($2M)
Johnson($2M)/Hollis-Jefferson (1.1M-assume 25th overall)/Dawson (500K)
Randle (3.1M)/Kelly (1.7M)
Jordan (19M)/Black (845K)/Sacre ($1M)

Breakdown of roster moves:

~Draft
-D'angelo Russell (2nd overall)
-Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (25th overall)
-Timothe Luwawu (33rd overall-Stashed overseas)
-Branden Dawson (51-55th overall)
-Sign DeAndre Jordan to 4 year max
-Re-sign Wayne Ellington and Wes Johnson to 2 year deals worth approximately $4M each (preferably with team options)
-Re-sign Ronnie Price with veterans minimum

Sort of mixed what I think Mitch might do (retain some familiar faces) while adding in my favored scenario (Russell+Jordan).

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
