Skiles has the strongest past ties to the Magic, but wouldn't Malone also have a connection because his dad was one of Stan's assistants (I think still is in Detroit actually)? Brendon Malone could write the kid a recommendation right? lol
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

Yes he is. But I'm not the biggest fan of Malone. He could be great though. I'm just not sold on him yet.

I guess I'm more for a coach that will really focus on forging a tough defensive identity.

If Karl can do that, great....but from what I understand his calling card has been complex offenses -seems like an impossible task to implement that mid season with a very inexperienced team and a rookie point guard and no back up pg.

i would wait until after the season and complete the tank at this point
from a philosophy POV karl fits here well

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

if the magic hire skiles, i'm done, the guy is not a good coach and never takes his teams beyond mediocrity.
you have george **** karl out there, someone who has constantly overachieved with rosters and has won 1000 games in the league.

If were going to hire a coach this season I want Karl or Malone. Skiles is a bandaid and we will be looking for another coach in 2 years.

I'd prefer,

1) George Karl
2) Avery Johnson
3) Scott Skiles
4) Nate McMillan
5) Mike Malone

Thibs would be just under Karl, if canned by Chicago.

The move was inevitable to move on from JV. He appears to be a nice person, but lack the charisma and tactics to be a good coach in the league. I wish him the best in his endeavors. As for looking for a new coach, I have my concerns with both Skiles(despite Magic history) and Karl. To be honest, I'm not convinced that Hennigan is aiming to go after one of them at this time.

I wouldn't mind Avery Johnson. He just need to drop the micro managing bit like Mike Fratello used to do. That's one of the reason's why no one isn't blowin up his cell about a HC position.

George karl honestly would be the perfect fit u can't tell me that him walking in that locker room that we wouldn't immediately grab the attention and respect of vic, Vuc, Aaron and elf? George karl is the right choice.

I think I want to wait until the season is over. let Borrego coach the year out and tank the season. The best coaching talent might be an assistant with a current team who can't be hired right now. I ain't gonna lie either. I want a high pick.

We can't tank anymore. We need forward progress. We need these guys to gain confidence. We need them to learn how to win. Tanking is over. We have the potential young studs. We will add another good young player in the draft regardless.

We have to tank in my opinion, there is no point competing the rest of the season. Play the core, let Frye rest any injuries he has, let Payton figure it out, and get a good win here and there, then move into the off-season and choose a coach. We can meet with the candidates now, there is no problem with doing that, they will still be there in the summer, we should take our time, get some more talent, try and trade veterans for cap space and picks/young talent and make a decision on our coach and what they want to move forward. my personal prefence would be

1. Malone
2. Jackson
3. Karl
(he won't be coaching when we reach our prime)

If Thibs becomes available that's our guy, that's why we should wait
