Lin was sleeping on a buddy's couch throughout Linsanity if I remember correctly. The Duke connection with Hendo is probably enough to get Williams a place in Hendo's living room if he doesn't want to rent out a hotel.

10-day contracts are what, $30k? $40k?

Depends on the years of experience. In Williams' case, about $58k.

I'd like to think the Hornets have someone who is responsible for helping players get set up in situations like this, basically someone arranging his hotel stay while he is in town.

Based on the film on him with the wicked dunks, he could be the most athletic PG we've had in town since Baron Davis. Assuming Williams can legitimately handle the point guard duties.

Or am I forgetting somebody with major hops, either a fulltime PG or a SG we would slide over there?

If we're talking vertical athleticism, absolutely more athletic than any PG we had as a Bobcat. I don't recall Shannon Brown playing any PG here.

He skipped the combine (not sure why, seems odd) so I don't know how true this is, but found in a few places online that he has a 48" vertical. Crazy.

Doubt he still has a 48 inch vertical. He only played 24 games in his first three years due to ACL, Achilles, and shoulder surgeries. He's still got some major ups somehow. He was alright for Philly last year.

Like I figured I guess we basically just signed him more for practice bodies than anything.

I'm hoping they kept him on the sidelines just to show him our game plan as kind of a walk-through tutorial (this game showed him absolutely nothing offensively whatsoever) and maybe he'll play vs his former team (Philly)

Elliot Williams says one of his strengths is his ability to defend point guards. Has good lateral quickness, long arms.

His best asset from what I've seen. Can hit open shots at a good clip.

If he can do that consistently then he should have a career in the NBA.

Superathletic defender who can hit the open shot, plenty of teams would want a guy like that.

I hope so. I would rather go with only four players on the court than see much more of Neal at PG.

it would be cruel to just fling him in the court to run the point without any preparation.

that would be setting him up for failure/embarrassment

Maybe with no game tomorrow he can get some good practice time in and we may see him against his old team Saturday night.

Ill always remember Elliot as having all world potential when he started out at Duke. Things haven't exactly worked out for him, but I hope he can turn things around. Hes a great guy.

He's back, signing a training camp deal with Hornets. I guess he and Harrison can fight it out for the last spot.
