Re: I Blew It - The Lance Stephenson Thread II
From Lance's perspective I think that he simply picked the wrong team & situation. It's too bad that Dallas didn't work out for him. I think that he would have fit well there.
Th Hornets made a high risk / high reward play in signing Lance and it hasn't worked out. Honestly I don't think that it will either. Cliff is clearly the wrong coach for him. Kemba isn't the best player fit wise to play with Lance and this is really Kemba's team ATM.
None of this is to say that Lance is a bad person. He's just on the wrong team. I honestly think that it would be best for both the Hornets and Lance for him to be traded. I do agree with Gipper08 that there is a huge potential for problems down the stretch if Lance isn't traded by the deadline.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Rex Chapman
Ricky Davis

Dell Curry
Don't forget my man Glen Rice. GOAT scorer in Charlotte history, imo. If I need points I'm taking 97 Glen Rice, hand-down. I think Eddie Robinson had sneaky-good potential as well, too bad he flamed out in Chicago. I might be overrating him though, he was my favorite player as a teenager and one of the few I ever met in person to boot so I'm a fanboy for life.
It's kind of surprising that a Lance fan would tout his scoring potential. I always thought his best attribute would be the all-around game and being able to have someone other than Kemba facilitate for once.
LOL, how could i forget Rice? Best scorer in franchise history by a mile. its not even close. LJ 2nd.
agreed about lance's potential. i never viewed him as a big time scorer. was hoping we'd get a 17, 6, 5 line from him, not 25, 6, 5. he's not that type of player.

I was just driving and thinking "Glen Rice.I forgot Glen Rice". Glen Rice had way WAY more scoring potential than Lance. Heck, IMO Rice did not reach his potential. His 96-97 avg should have been an every year thing. If Rice played today in his prime he would lead the league and average 30.

I'd trade Lance for Glen Rice right now.

Re: I Blew It - The Lance Stephenson Thread II
Yep, some of the stats Rice put up in 97 were stupidly good. I made a post in favor of him (over Glenn Robinson) on the Player Comparison board and when I went back to check his stats they were even better than I remembered. Something like 27ppg and 47% from three point territory on five attempts a game. That is a ridiculously high percentage, even higher than what Steph Curry puts up, on roughly the same number of attempts. It was only one year but still a campaign for the record books, definitely.
I remember when we traded him to the Lakers, I was so mad and was sure that team was about to string together a bunch of chips with Shaq passing out to Rice and Kobe getting all sorts of iso opportunities. They did end up with the threepeat, just not how I expected. In retrospect Eddie Jones/Elden Campbell was a really nice haul and we sold high, but I'll always have a soft spot for Rice and was glad to see a former Hornet get a ring.
In today's era of analytics that favors threes and FTs Rice would be even more valued, and probably put up even bigger numbers on a higher number of attempts from deep if he could maintain the 1997 percentages. He was ahead of his time in a way.

I think Lance is a great fit for the NYK, BRK, LAC or LAL. Just not here.
I would substitute MIA instead of LAC on your list, otherwise agreed.

Yes,He made a couple of "Downtown 3s",but he also was wild on some plays..4 assists? My Question is on this team , shouldn't we get more production for the $$ we are paying him? Hendo looks like he should be earning the 27 million.I still think Lance has the ability to be a "Great Player". I predict someday we will be reading about him and/or watching him play for a Championship. Unfortunately it will not be here. And for the record,Lance didn't blow it...We did bringing him here.

May as well let this guy take a month off to try and get healthy. Seems like it's something at least once a week with him.

The guy is playing pretty limited minutes to be suffering from tendinitis.

Believe me, many Nets fans still want him and think he would be a great fit here.

Re: I Blew It - The Lance Stephenson Thread II
These injuries are getting out of control. Has there been a more injured team this season? I hope this isn't an issue over the next couple of games and the all-star break gives us a time to regroup physically.
I've actually been seeing some positives with Lance. His play has still been well below par, but he is moving the ball and playing in the system. He is doing a good job of setting others up and playing hard defense. Most importantly, his relationship with the team seems to be drastically improving. Everyone on the bench, including Kemba and Al, were going nuts when he hit those 3s against Washington. He still gets too many careless turnovers and his jump shot is still a major issue but I still think he can get back to being good enough to be a really good 6th man by the end of the season. I'm pretty positive it is almost completely a mental thing at this point. He looks fairly healthy now, but his head has been all over the place and you can see his frustration and confusion affecting him. I really hope he gets it together.

I'm actually not mad that Lance got knee tendinitis outside of the fact that it might hurt his little bit of nonexistent trade value. I'd never wish injury on any player and still won't. But situationally I like that Lance missing the next game will give Hairston the chance to steal a spot in the rotation. I really want PJ in the rotation come playoff time.

PS to Nets Fan...I agree he would be a good fit on your team. Go tell Billy that Marvin Williams,Gary Neal, and Lance works for Joe and Jerome Jordan....Sorry but no first round draft picks

Re: I Blew It - The Lance Stephenson Thread II
It's unreal how low my level of expectations are for Lance right now. I mean, I would say yesterday was an ok game for him because he didn't force shots (except for that awful one legged side fade away he took) and generally stayed within the flow of the offense and made the right pass even though he was pretty subpar on defense. Then I check the box score and see that he posted 2 - 7 from the field, 2 boards and 4 assists in 20 minutes. I can't believe that I have to accept that as an improvement on how he has played lately.
At this point I don't care if we trade him or keep him, but I think JJ would be a huge improvement over the production we're getting now from the guys likely to be involved in the trade.
