this is a simple case of CP3 questioning the suitability of a SPECIFIC woman to be an official and some people suspecting that his line of thinking MIGHT extend to women in general. but to assume that connection and cast aspersions is ridiculous

would he have questioned the suitability of a rookie male official in a similar situation? would he have even been aware of the rookie status of a male official? CP3 might not even know the answer to those questions

KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

she's a horrible ref. it has nothing to do with her being a woman, though. she messed up a huge call in the kings game a few weeks ago where she called a foul on boogie and he got fouled out in OT on that call.

Yeah, those seem a little quick and unreasonable techs.

It was as if it was personal.

As for the comments, saying it's sexist is a bit of a stretch.

This is such a non story. The sound bite after the game puts everything into context even the somehow controversial use of the word "her". The people saying it was a personal attack is head scratching. We have seen players and coaches during games say much harsher things to referee's usually with very foul language and nobody say's it a personal attack. Yet Paul makes these comments about a referee who happens to be a woman and its an issue? It's not like he hasn't criticized male officials before. Also it's not about being politically correct either. In this day an age anytime someone tries to criticize another person one of the various "ism's" is thrown out there along with calling that person a hater, saying their entitled or pushing some kind of agenda.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

I really don't know the specifics, but I know Chris Paul is a terrible human being. He needs to end the war on woman.

dougthonus wrote:This is the stupidest non story in awhile IMO.

People keep saying when he said "she" or "her" that he was technically right to use those pronouns as if the default view was that he was some crazy sexist, but it's not technically incorrect for him to use she, because she is a woman.

That's ridiculous. What else was he going to do other than use the correct pronoun? Should he have called her an "it" or a "him" or spoken in the third person and said "the ref"? It's straight up silliness that it's even a question that we're ripping the guy for using correct grammar in the correct way when anything else would have made no sense whatsoever.

Thank you.

League should look at rash of techs and Paul was overly critical. Ref criticism happens.

But the ESPN radio coverage of this non-story was just an embarrassment.

The ref being a woman is a non-story, but Chris Paul needs to take a long look at himself before going to the media. The entire Clippers team spends so much time and energy with their constant whining. These guys are basically arguing every single call (and non-call) to the point of absurdity. At one point during the game, Deandre Jordan blatantly hacked Mosgov, and he was still arguing the call. You can't argue every call, it's hurting the flow of the game, and I'm perfectly fine with the refs controlling the whining with a few techs.

There was nothing wrong with Chris Paul stating his opinion about a certain call.He did not attack her personally he just felt it was a bad call but he shouldn't have went as far as to say this isn't the job for her no big deal and that should be end of that discussion. Chris Paul really have to back up all of his talking and flopping with solid play in playoffs this year or he's really going to get it hard from NBA fans and media. 10 years and he's yet to get out of second round of playoffs but yet he's considered a superstar. Even last year he cried after he fouled russ in the act of shooting. Chris Paul and the clippers should stop crying to refs and play basketball.."Don't get mad get Better!"

When you say one of the few women in a certain position might not belong or that it "might not be for her," there's sexist undertones there. Doesn't mean Chris Paul meant it as a sexist attack or that he himself is a sexist, that's just the nature of saying things like this. You have to think a little more when you say something to the effect that someone that occupies a minority position doesn't really belong.

That said, I don't see anything wrong with any of the technicals. You can't scream "Goddammit" at the top of your lungs in today's NBA. You don't get to whine endlessly at refs because your team underperforms. The Clippers should get multiple Ts every game. I hope this continues until they stop destroying basketball with their constant complaining.
It's time for 5 refs.

The only reason its news is because CP3(superstar nba black male) called out a white female ref. She did get ticky tack on those whistles, CP3 should have known better to keep him mouth shut when the mic and camera is in your face.

Guaranteed this isn't gonna blow over quickly, bet State Farm pulls those ads.

That whole crew was out of line with the quick tech trigger. Clippers needed to chill out a little bit, but a couple of those were unnecessary, the CP3 one the biggest bs one.

They were down and wanted to run. The female ref was taking her sweet ass time getting them the ball. Unacceptable
