Khem Birch Named to NBA D-League All-Star Game

Sioux Falls, SD (Feb. 4, 2015) - The NBA Development League announced today that Sioux Falls Skyforce center Khem Birch has been named to the roster of the Eastern Conference Futures team for the ninth annual NBA D-League All-Star Game. The NBA D-League All-Star game will be played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY of Feb. 15.

Birch has appeared in 27 games (18 starts) for the Skyforce this season. On the season, he is averaging 12.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. His 2.7 blocks per game is the 6th best per game average in the NBA D-League. Birch is shooting 69.4% (129-186) from the field so far this season, which is the best shooting percentage in the NBA D-League. In total, Birch has recorded 10 double-doubles this season.

Birch has the athleticism, but his skill set is more of a Center, again zero chance at SF.

Both are basically undersized Centers trying to develop enough of a game to transition to PF at the next level.

I see. With a more polished skillset Khem Birch could have a lot of success as small forward. That long wingspan can provide him a huge advantage over others players. Birch's defensive skills can transform him in another Luol Deng (capable of guarding multiple positions). But like you said, he's just "trying to develop enough of a game to transition to PF at the next level."

Neither of them could even dream of being SFs

Jones doesn't have the lateral quickness. Birch doesn't have a jump shot.

Welp. Boston will take note of this and likely not bring Dawkins back after this 10-day is over with.

Seth Curry is still available. Larry Drew II was returned to Sioux Falls by the 76ers. Maybe they get Curry now.

I've never watched a video before, but man, he looks good. What about Toure Murry, a lengthy PG?

I guess what I like most about Seth (aside from his talent in shooting) is how he tries hard on defense. He reminds me a lot of Tyler Johnson's drive, but Curry has more talent. We have space on our roster for both though. There is a lot of garbage on our roster.

I always thought Toure Murry was a forward.

Curry is a bust trust me. He isnt his brother or even close to it. He has no NBA qualities and this team isnt good enough to hide him and use him in spurts. We need guys that give other teams matchup problems. Curry would be an exploit other teams would use.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

Thanks for your opinion.

I wasn't saying he was his brother. We don't really expect to get an all-star player on a minimum contract. All I want is some offense from the back court.

His D-League stats:

24 ppg
4 assists per game
20.4 PER
Nearly 50% 3 pont shooting on 8 attempts per game.

He is almost a 50/50/90 player. The 3 point line is in the same place in the D-League.

http://basketball.realgm.com/player/Set ... mmary/4873

Defensive rating of 106 seems tolerable since he is crushing on offense. I really think he deserves a chance.

It's really simple - we have nothing to lose. He might bust, but he won't be much worse then Cole. that's not possible. We're not going to the finals this year, so might as well take some chances, some might actually work. A couple already did this season.

Yeah, I'd totally waive Cole & Granger (even with the 2 year contract) and sign Khem Birch and Seth Curry. We won't be able to trade either of those guys anyway and we'll just bleed the money while they perform like crap. Might as well give a chance to some new blood.

G: Wade, Chalmers, Napier, Johnson, & Curry
F: Deng, Bosh, Ennis, Williams, Haslem, Khem Birch, (McRoberts)
C: Whiteside, Andersen, Hamilton

That would open up a $2.3M salary exception that can be use in the off season to whoever performs best. I doubt if we can use it for Whiteside, but with Riley, who knows, right? Then we would have Bird Rights that can be used in 2017-8 to keep him.

Oh, ****, that won't work. Granger signed on the BAE. I don't think we can do that two years in a row. Anybody know if the player we used it on is traded (or waived)?

D-League
2015 Khem Birch: 28 G | 26.5 MPG | 24.8 PER | 16.6 USG% | .254 WS/48
2014 Justin Hamilton: 39 G | 35.6 MPG | 19.8 PER | 23.2 USG% | .164 WS/48

Birch is an MVP contender in the D-League . He needs to be brought up ASAP!

Agree 100% - Let's do this.

Yeah, he's been even better than Shawn Jones. Putting up ridiculous numbers in the D-League right now. Him and Whiteside protecting the rim has me drooling.

Does *anyone* think this team is worse than the one we have with Cole & Granger?

G: Wade, Chalmers, Napier, Johnson, & Curry
F: Deng, Bosh, Ennis, Williams, Haslem, Khem Birch, (McRoberts)
C: Whiteside, Andersen, Hamilton

It has more potential with Curry, Johnson, Napier, Birch, Ennis, and Hamilton all having a possibility to develop.
Cole is not staying so there is no point in having him stay on.
Granger had his chance.

We could even go further getting rid of Williams and bringing in someone like Roscoe Smith or Eric Griffin. Williams hit a lot of 3s for us though early on.

With UD going down - makes a ton of sense to bring Both Brich and Shawn Jones. Both showed they deserve a chance IMO.

Birch is NBA level defender and rebounder already, Shawn Jones is a rebounder snd can score some.

can we just trade cole to a team with cap space for a 2nd rounder already, and open another spot on the team for someone that might end up being an avg NBA player?
