He needs not to show up. He just needs his contract to be traded for a second round pick. That is all he is worth to the Lakers.

wtf was he gona prove with the 10th game last year, was it really that important? Mgmt. might not have done anything from the cap relief it might have gotten them had he not played that 10th game but Nash playing that 10th+ gm certainly didn't do squat for the team.
I don't understand your line of thinking. Nash can't just declare he's healthy on his own and make himself eligible for a game. He'd obviously have to be cleared by doctors. If he was cleared by team doctors as healthy enough to play what makes you think the Lakers had any chance of getting Nash declared unfit to continue his career and get cap relief after league doctors reviewed his injuries at the time? After his season ended he was still well enough to continue on his road back during the summer and was not declared out for the year until after he re-aggravated his injuries during training camp.
You're basically upset that Nash didn't continue to sit out for that 10th game despite being cleared to play by team doctors and then you're under the assumption he'd be declared unfit to continue his career by league doctors even though team doctors just cleared him to play.
wow some great doctor there huh cause he went out the rest of the season just a game laterand you're right the Lakers didn't have any right to hold him out if he wanted to play but you tell me what he had to gain by playing towards the end of that season when there was nothing to gain? Could it be because he wanted to prove something to HIMSELF regardless of what he could do for the team as far as winning and making any difference that late into the season?
I think you have a clear misunderstanding about how playing that 10th game impacted the lakers

One of the worse trades Lakers have made in many years. What was Mitch thining. 2 first and 2 second round picks for a then 38 year old. Use those picks to draft a 21 year old PG. Or use them to get a player that is 10 years younger and still can help.
Do not forget we still owe a future #1 to Orlando for the D12 trade. Lakers need to stop trading future assets for try to win now. Just does not work.
Hope Mitch has learned this. Maybe Lakers can trade a Hill or others to get extra picks to off set these bad moves.

Re: Happy 40th bday Steve Nash
When you have a once in a lifetime talent like Kobe with only a few yrs left of elite play, you absolutely do everything possible to get as much win now talent around him as possible. I as a fan will always support this team's ambition to hit a homerun.
Things didn't work out, and we as a fan base haven't been used to the breaks not falling our way, but I'm willing to accept the reality which was that with kobes end near and the new cba forcing the lakers to reinvent themselves, they went down swinging.

Feb 1 2008 Lakers traded Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, the rights to Marc Gasol and 2008 and 2010 first round draft picks. I think that worked out for us...

Yes but Canadian point guards age in dog years so 280.
That sounds about right.

28 mil for 65 games... Ouch!
Probably more than Kareem ever made as a Laker.
