Re: The Andrew Wiggins Thread
Wiggins is a 3. U dont put a guy that skilled on both ends at the sg position. If u wanna get him against the 2, run some picks to get the d to switch.
As for lavine, he is one of the best ball handlers at the 2 position. He will cause a lot of problems at the 2 when he begins to attack the basket rather than settling for jumpers. U can see that he can get the first step past his defender whenever he wants to, the next step in his development is knowing what hes going to do after blowing by.
This backcourt for minny is set. Time to get PF and C that fit with the current project.

Why not? It worked for the best player ever.

Because we got lavine and hes a 2 lol. and that dude has superstar potential too. If there is any prospect that wolves should have a bit of patience with, its lavine
Shabazzy is going nowhere. Hes a great option off the bench. Not only can he get a flurry of points, he will help a lot with hustle and boards. I also think his passing is much better than ppl wanna admit

He may have superstar potential, but his floor is pretty low. I'm not ready to pencil him in as my longterm starting SG yet. I think early on, he's better suited as a 6th man.

Re: The Andrew Wiggins Thread
Lavine has 'superstar potential' in the same way that any top 15 pick has coming out of the draft. He really hasn't shown anything yet apart from the crazy athleticism that everyone already knew about.

Re: The Andrew Wiggins Thread
Lavine has shown ridiculous potential. He can get by anybody without effort, has very good ball skills already, has a great shooting stroke, and an immense advantage in athleticism. On defense he is very good at staying in front of ball handlers with his quick feet and long strides. He has very good length for a 2 to get in passing lanes and to contest shots without fouling. Hes just gotta get stronger and play more to anticipate the screen. For him the bottom line is that the game is too fast currently and hes too weak. Besides that hes got all the tools. This is the guy wolves should take a risk on to draft around him. Hopefully he wins the dunk contest and rides that momentum through the second half of the season. He is such an enticing and rare prospect both physically and in skillset, wolves cant screw this one up

Whoever said Wiggins was a catch and shoot guy, lmao. I can't remember more then 2 times that he's done that. They feed him when's he's being guarded almost exclusively.

I agree Lavine shows a tremendous combination of athleticism and skill, but it doesn't mean much until he figures out how to translate that into production. Maybe that's inevitable, but I'm not convinced. If Russell is the best player on the board when we draft, I'd take him. If we end up with two great shooting guards, that's a great problem to have.

I agree with this. Lavine may have many tools, but he doesn't have a clue how to play basketball. He's terrible offensively and defensively. People were raving about his potential after his big outburst vs. the Lakers, but go back and watch the game. Most of those were bad shots. He just happened to get really hot.

I'll reserve my judgement on LaVine until he gets to play his natural position.
It's pretty clear that he has no clue how to run an offense. I figure there aren't too many rookie/soph SGs who could do a better job running a team, though.
Currently, he is one of the better tank commanders on the team along with Hummel. Hopefully, he can make the same step forward in the right direction that Shabazz has done in his first offseason.

With everyone healthy, wiggs needs to learn to produce as the 4th option.

with more of a free motion offense, Iso-Wig is no longer needed. time for slash-Wig to come alive.

Think we could still using it. Specially with Ricky minutes limit, we could use Andrew to move the 2nd unit scoring, with bazz still out. Even after be full strenght we could use wiggins iso on certain matchups.
But you are right, andrew iso's shouldn't be his primary way to score.

Re: The Andrew Wiggins Thread
My idea for Wiggins at least until Ricky's minute restrictions are limited:
When Ricky is in, learn to play with him, constantly move, cut while he drives so he can find you, run like a gazelle on the fast break and when Ricky is out...Flip better run that offense through him to get him comfortable at taking his defender on 1on1 situtions because he has the ability to get his shot off whenever he wants. We need that type of player at the end of games, especially when we make the playoffs and need go-to baskets.
Players like Martin and Thad won't be here in the future, but it's good for Wiggins to learn how to play with Ricky, knowing that he won't have to create offense for himself all the time and that Rubes will set him up for easy buckets if he just moves around on offense.

I still say Flynn had a good rookie season. I have never seen a player regress like he did.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.
