Re: Trade Targets
I like him more than Kanter and he fits our offense better because he can pass, but not sure on his d. Also, we are pretty crunched up cap wise if we don't clear salary, so that has to happen first.

If that's our best FA option I'd rather just give Henson another 115 games and see where we are next summer. We could also draft a big, although the options 17-19 are meh. I just want my C to defend though.
Don't get hung up on the positions, there is a lot of flexibility between those guys listed at the PG and SG (save Middleton). And the only reason I would opt for the guard in the draft, is that I think there are going to be some great deals to be had in FA. The market is absolutely flooded centers.
So if you don't like Kanter, that's fine, go after O'Quinn or Koufos, or whomever. Because unless you think we can lure a guy like Dragic, we aren't getting an upgrade to the guards in FA.

Re: Trade Targets
My preference is to draft a PG. I think the chances of that position being BPA for us are high, and like I've said dozens of times, I don't think we need a scorer there. Middleton/Parker/Giannis will combine for 70%+ usage at their peak, IMO. I want a PG who facilitates, hits 3s and defends, and a C who defends/boards. We don't need scorers at those spots, it's more a luxury than anything. I'd rather allocate dollars elsewhere over spending a minimum of $12M per year on Knight. And that's what I think he gets.

Re: Trade Targets
Why would Detroit let Monroe go? I think him and Drummond are really good together.
The Bucks should stick with Henson for awhile.

Re: Trade Targets
I don't really see a scenario where Knight is not on this team next year. So, I'd prefer to try and find a complimentary guard for him.
I could see a split something like;
Knight/Middleton 20 minutes
Grant/Knight 15 minutes
Grant/Middleton 5 minutes
Bayless/Middleton 8 minutes
Knight 35 min
Grant 20 min
Middleton 33 min
That might even be too much time for Grant realistically next season with Mayo still around...but I guess my point is if you have 3 primary guys between Knight, Middleton and a draft pick, there is room for all three out there. Then the following season the draft pick takes on Bayless' minutes. Now if people think Marshall will be back with a prominent role, that complicates matters.

Re: Trade Targets
I'd trade a future 2nd for Jeff Withey.

Re: Trade Targets
If could land Jerian Grant (I think he goes lottery) or Tyus Jones, I'd be fine with Grant (Jones)/Middleton/Bayless/Mayo at the guards next year. Bring back Marshall cheap although he won't be 100% to start the year. I guess a lot of it comes down to what Knight's pricetag is. I just don't feel the dollar vs. win impact value is going to be there for him.

Re: Trade Targets
Is there a rumor to this or is Wickett just being Wickett?

Yeah, I am not debating the merits of signing Knight and to what price tag...I am just pretty certain regardless he is going to be on the team next year, so how do we realistically build around him.

I haven't heard any rumors besides that he might be available.

No idea, but if there is one position we don't need, it is SG right now. So unless it would be part of some bigger deal (like Ersan and Dudley moving out), I am not sure it would even make sense.

Re: Trade Targets
Stauskas and Thompson have been on the table for awhile, Bucks are not crunched by the cap right now when you consider the increases and expirings coming off the books in two years, still not sure the Bucks make any moves.

Actually I think Stauskas would fit really well with Knight. Also why don't they do anything for us?

I think Kanter brings some physicality, inside scoring and rebounding...IF, he buys in to the system (offense AND defense), he is only 22 with the potential to be super ZaZa (minus the passing) and grow with our core...how is that a bad thing?
I'm all for looking at other guys too. I just think he gives us a lot of what we are lacking with plenty of upside. I could easily be talked into O'Quinn, Koufos and maybe even Monroe as well.
What do you think we should do?

Stauskas might be a good backup option in case Middleton gets some crazy offer in restricted free agency and we decide to pass on it.

Re: Trade Targets
Kanter can certainly do something for us, but Stauskas would just be an upgrade over the Wolters cheerleader roll. Stauskas looks horrible and my gut tells me no trade happened because the Bucks feel the same way and have doubts he ever turns it around.
I personally want us to just trade JoB for Bass and be done with it. JoB has no potential to be more than a 4th or 5th big while Bass can step in as our starting PF and make a big impact from day 1 helping this team be as competitive as possible this season, and with him being an expiring it does nothing to harm our future.

That is a pretty realistic trade in my opinion.

Re: Trade Targets
Kanter is intriguing but a bit scary. Dude is absolutely terrible defensively..he's gonna be a solid post scorer for years, and at the very least his strength means we won't be totally bullied around as is the case w/ Henson..but if we're playing Giannis at PF, it's gonna put a lot of strain on him having to carry the entire defensive burden in the paint/at the rim. It sucks, a non-stonehands better finishing version of Larry would really be the perfect player for this team.
