Archie, Tj, and Tyler have all shown that they should be getting minutes right now.

Problem is that some of these guys would be included in the trade package for a star. Nobody's gonna give up a star player without getting some nice prospects back.

yeah...
bla bla bla he cant shoot 3's
our team lacking length, defense, FT opportunities, more inside play
guess who has all this tools?

Do you understand that Goodwin's FT opportunities and drives will be hard to come by in the NBA if NBA defenders don't need to respect his shot? They'll play off of him and dare him to shoot.

He doesn't need to turn into a marksman, but today's NBA defenses will happily cede you the long 2(AKA the least efficient shot in basketball) vs letting you take it to the rim. That's why it's so imperative that Archie develops a respectable perimeter shot. Same with TJ.

And maybe that is why they are getting more minutes in the DL. There, they look really good and appear to be better assets.

Of course they will, just like when people dare Green to drive to the hoop.
Anyway, last year Goodwin had a .625 eFG% when driving.

Just look at Giannis' numbers.
He's playing a lot at 4 right now, but he was an average 3PT shooter last year in a low volume (34%)
This year, 94% of his shots are in 2PT range (54% at the rim).
People dare him to shoot but he's almost unguardable right now.
They dont need his 3pt shooting (Knight, Middleton and Dudley all over 40%+/Mayo reliable enough at 36%)

That's what probably will happen when Goodwin gets his chance.

1) Giannis is also built like Gumby
2) We don't have the ability to space the floor like Milwaukee does, so it's going to be more crowded for Archie

Paul Coro wrote:Suns guard Reggie Bullock made nine of 14 shots, including four of five 3-pointers, to score 26 points and help D-League affiliate Bakersfield to a 102-96 win at Santa Cruz. Suns guard Archie Goodwin added 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists but made only four of 18 shots, including two of eight 3s. Goodwin scored most of his points at the free throw line, going 12 for 14 there.

The minute Archie gets even a passable jumpshot, his whole game opens up.

Suns Monitoring Alec Brown For Possible Addition Next Season

As Alec Brown enters Phoenix’s D-League affiliate, the Suns are expected to discuss an NBA deal with their 2014 second-round draft pick to join the 2015-16 roster, a league source told RealGM.

Brown, a rare sharpshooter at 7-foot-1, has been rehabilitating the dislocated left shoulder that he suffered in last July’s Las Vegas summer league. He appeared in five games for the Suns’ summer league entry.

The Suns have remained high on Brown, monitoring his progress and entrance into the Bakersfield Jam of the D-League. He’ll join Bakersfield’s roster next week.

As a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Brown averaged 15.4 points and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 42 percent from three-point range. He went to the Suns with the 50th overall draft pick.

Bullock's shot looks pretty good, and Archie's looks better. I'm glad they are getting playing time to develop. :-)

It's funny, but I didn't see the news on Alex Brown, before I brought him up as a possible stretch big. :o

Bakersfield Jam coach Nate Bjorkgren's take on our guys:
Reggie Bullock

Stats with Bakersfield: 4 games, 23.8 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 1.5 spg, 50.7 FG%, 46.2 3FG%

Bjorkgren's Take: He does have nice size and he can really shoot that ball. He’s smart. I think he really does a nice job on the defensive end. When a shot goes up, he’s doing his assignment. He’s blocking his man out, he’s releasing and going to get that ball. He has a good nose for the basketball. He’s tough...

I have him guard multiple positions in the D-League. He’ll be on ones, twos, threes and fours in this league because this league plays a little bit smaller. He’s getting plenty of opportunity to guard different guys and mix it up and he’s doing a great job...

He picks things up very quickly. He was able to spend some time with the Suns after the trade happened and go from there. Then he comes to us and continues to learn the Suns’ system. He picks things up very quickly, whether we draw a play up on a timeout or when we need to run that play again later on the fly, he’s in the right spot.

Tyler Ennis

Stats with Bakersfield: 9 games, 18.4 ppg, 5.3 apg, 4.3 rpg, 1.8 spg, 47.9 FG%

Bjorkgren's Take: He understands [that] in the D-League, the whole trick is getting your guys to play together. Everyone wants to do well and wants to score and wants to be in the NBA, which is natural. When Tyler comes here, that’s the first thing I say to him. ‘Tyler I know you can get your points, but you can get into the paint and distribute with the way you see the floor. You can push the ball ahead. Just keep getting everybody involved.’ He does a really good job of that...

His vision and the way he sees the floor, his intelligence, makes everybody better. It also gives us a chance to play two point guards at the same time [with Joe Jackson].

Archie Goodwin

Stats with Bakersfield: 10 games, 22.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.8 spg, 43.6 FG%

Bjorkgren's Take: He’s making the right decisions on his shots. He’s shooting that perimeter jumper when it’s there. He’s attacking the rim and attacking the paint when he’s supposed to. He’s had some big moments...

I’m seeing great things on both sides of the basketball from Archie. He’s very coachable and he’s a good teammate...

His length and he’s got quick hands and he’s very explosive. That just helps him be so active on the defensive end. He’s really buying into it.

T.J. Warren

Stats with Bakersfield: 9 games, 26.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.6 spg, 54.4 FG%

Bjorkgren's Take: He can really score that ball. He just has an ability. He can be up in the air, twist it with one leg out and get fouled, get bumped and he just has great body control in the air to score it.His spacing and running the floor, getting teammates involved, he’s doing a good job with that. He’s really efficient...

He’s a really good defender as well. T.J. has good NBA size for the wing. In our league, he can guard all ones through fours. I think he’s communicating very well with his teammates on the floor. When the ball is in his hands, really good thing can happen. He makes the right plays. He finds cutters. He’ll feed the post and he’ll cut to the basket. He just understands what to do at the right time.

Thanks for posting that. Nice to see Brown playing. He moves well for a 7' guy. Good stats and comments about our youth. Glad to see that they are developing and making the best of that time. I think Bullock could get some burn at the two if Dragic gets moved.

Does anyone know much about that coach? I mean, is he just blowing smoke with those reports or is he sincere and knows what he's talking about? I read those write-ups and start salivating. I'm already a believer in Warren and Ennis, it would be great if Goodwin and Bullock are ready to help us too. If Archie is really responding to coaching and making the right decisions he could be a tremendous player. I know that it's still just the D League but all of our guys have been killing it down there, it's hard not to get excited thinking about them getting some time with the big club.

I think Bullock shooting 46% from three with solid defense from 1-4 can be used right away on this club. And he is shooting 50% rom the field. Best rebounder out of the youth group by two rebounds, what's not to like?
