The Official Brett Favre Thread
Favre announced that he's returning to Lambeau to have his jersey retired and to join the Packer HOF. In 2016, he'll be joining the NFL Hall of Fame.

He was so fun (and maddening) to watch. I hope he's back in GB often.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Nice choices. '94 last game at county stadium, I was there, one of my all time fav's.
The Detroit one was also epic. I'll never forget jumping out of my chair in shock on that play. Nice capture of Wayne Fontes on the replay hahaha.

If we are going down this path, we need to have a Kitrick Taylor TD. The one that started it all...

Re: The Official Brett Favre Thread
This is a pretty good highlights video. Has his Oakland game and a bunch of other great plays showing his toughness and grit.
The difference with Rodgers and Favre sometimes reminds of a Ninja vs a Gladiator. Favre's like that brute force Barbarian/Gladiator type. He'll just keep coming after you straight at you and slam you with his forehead or whatever he's got. It's sloppy, it's brutal, it's sometimes brilliant and sometimes horrifically painful. It's all heart and he's just so damn stubborn he won't go down. He's like the Old Rocky movies, he just keeps getting beat up but never goes down and eventually knocks you out.
Whereas Rodgers is the silent assassin. He's the Ninja with 1,000 different ways to kill you and you won't even see it coming. With his surgical accuracy, his mind over matter, and his ability to disappear and then reappear and then knock you out with a single strike. If you defend one thing, he'll go to the next, no matter what you do he will find your weakness and exploit it.
But I don't want to make this about Rodgers VS Favre. This is Favre's thread.
It was a true roller coaster with Favre, it always has been.

Didn't he "announce" all of this before the past season even began?

But now it's official and a date July 18th 2015. It's a stone commitment for a change.

No Tickets are available for the ceremony but it will be recorded for the first time and aired on TV. 1600 tickets already sold out to corporate sponsors and hall of fame supporters, that's going to be a hot ticket.

Re: The Official Brett Favre Thread
Man so many great memories.
2007 TD to Jennings vs Chargers I remember being super jacked. Thought that was a huge win to boost that season. I think it tied the NFL record. 2007 was such a fun year for me, really wish they could've finished that one off.
2003 team of destiny was fun for that stretch.
The whole early to mid-90s and hysteria it caused with Packer fans. I don't think it will ever be topped b/c it was 20+ years of disappointment being released. Anybody under 30 really hasn't had to deal with losing football for any significant stretch.
As much as I hated him going to the Vikings, it made for must see TV. I'm glad he's coming back to GB. The guy made bone headed plays most definitely but made many more great ones. His records/stats speak for themselves. Guy was a legend.
It will be interesting if they do the HOF in the stadium as being suggested by him. I hope it doesn't replace the retirement of the jersey during the game.

Re: The Official Brett Favre Thread
Apparently, all of the tickets to his Packer HOF ceremony were sold to sponsors. Favre wants to move it to Lambeau so fans can attend.

Could be interesting. Other than the weather, hard to argue against doing it at Lambeau if he's willing. It would be a ton more profitable. Even if you only get 20-25,000 people - b/w lets say a $10 ticket, parking, concessions, etc it would add up quick. I'd definitely try to go.
I'd be very curious to see what the turnout would be. There are so many Favre fans I think State & Nationwide I could see them getting 50K+.

Re: The Official Brett Favre Thread
They would sell out Lambeau if they did it at Lambeau I would imagine and I think he is right they should move it there.

Re: The Official Brett Favre Thread
I thought when this was first announced LAST YEAR, that there would be 2 separate ceremonies. First the Packers HOF ceremony this summer, then a number retirement/ring of honor ceremony at a game. No idea why they would retire the number at a ceremony closed to the public unless Brett wants to knock both out at one time. Both sides still can't seem to get out of their own way to get this thing right.
F*** Marc Davis, f*** Tim Donaghy and f*** David Stern as a staff, record label and as a mothaf**kin crew......and if you wanna be down with Stern then F*** YOU TOO!!! Stu Jackson f*** you too.....all you mothaf**kas F*** YOU TOO!!!!

There are two separate things.
#1. Induction into the Packers Hall of Fame. That is the ceremony every summer they do for new HOF members. (Packers HOF). They have never had it at Lambeau but its rare a player like favre gets inducted.
#2 retiring his jersey. That almost never happens. The last being Reggie White. For that they do it during a game at Lambeau. They sometimes do a talk as well. I bought tix to that Saturday night before the game. They brought up all the old players to talk about reggie and told great stories. I flew in from FL for the Saturday night talk amd the sunday game.
I doubt they would combine those 2 separate ceremonies. I just think they want fans to be able to participate in the HOF induction.

This is accurate. They are (2) different things. If they were to do a big event at Lambeau though, they really could incorporate both together. He would be given more time to speak, etc compared to halftime of a game. It may come down to the schedule too. If they can't work out a date, maybe they do one big event. I hope it would be offered to season ticket holders first.

Re: The Official Brett Favre Thread
I love Brett and I always will. He was the QB I grew up watching, he was the QB that made me fall in love with the game, there was just an emotional connection with him that I don't think I'll ever have with an athlete again and maybe that was just my age but I never could bring myself to hate or even dislike him even when he went to Minnesota. There are other great maybe even better plays but Brett's toughness was legendary and nobody wanted it more and those qualities will live forever. It's bittersweet as the guy was my childhood hero and there is just some so special yet fleeting about those people it seems; it doesn't last forever, nothing good ever does but I'll always have the memories.
