it appears every last bit of statistical evidence that was used to condemn knight early in the season has reversed itself now that our top bench players have been inserted into the starting lineup for the garbage that had been there.
good work again ampd.

I was just pointing out how these stats going from "all time bad" to "regular bad" actually happened. It hasn't happened by the team playing 'regular bad', bad, below average, etc, with Knight on the floor. Its happened by the team playing really well with Knight on the floor, and it's been going on longer than 5 games.
Yeah Middleton can lift the offense in a way Knight can't. Knight is also taking the usage that will be Parker's going forward. He doesn't fit at SG because Middleton is way better and we have a similar caliber backup combo guy who costs $3 million and we will have no problem keeping him going forward because he's Kidd's BFF. In summary Knight sucks and should have been traded by now.
A lot of middleton lifting the lineup is just who he was replacing, which was mostly guys who weren't hitting their shots. OJ in the starting lineup was awful in the same role Middleton has, and JOB is a massive boat anchor to attach to any lineup. Replacing those 2 guys with Dudley and Middleton has made a big difference not because those guys are superstars lifting their teammates, but rather because we now have a legitimate starting lineup.
Bayless isn't a similar caliber guy to Knight, he's never come close to the numbers Knight is putting up this year.

i was trying to be discreet
but i will say that what was argued SO VEHEMENTLY has reversed itself SO QUICKLY doing exactly what the knight backers said would happen if the starting lineup changed..... it needs to make you take a deep breath and step back and just wait a 2nd. you literally are now hanging on this tiny ledge arguing middleton is a huge difference maker and the problem is where will jabaris usage come from in 15-16 if knight is the pg. you do realize how ludicrous and out of left field this is right?

Bayless is the same guy with less minutes, turnovers too I imagine.

Bayless has been less efficient on less usage, is a worse 3 point shooter, assists on almost 10% less of FG, is 3 years older, and is worse defensively. Other than that same player. Bayless has a higher TOV% than Knight this year.

Thick with irony as always. I've never argued Middleton is a huge difference maker he's just much better than mediocre which is your guy's level. Jabari is clearly going to be around a 27USG guy, Giannis is going to be significantly above the 20 he's at now. Middleton too, feel free to add it up and make a logical conclusion.

You do realise your arguing with Aussie on this point GoS???? If anyone thinks Bayless is almost if not just as good as Knight you sure wont convince him Knight can possibly be anything good. No mattee how many advanced stats sere used to condem him that now say differently. Its all because of Middleton

It might be 2 yrs. before that happens depending on Jabari's recovery.

They have virtually identical TS%. He's is worse defensively, the other stuff are positives for Bayless other than age. Knight has clearly made the team worse when he's dominated the ball. Plus Bayless can dribble without looking at the ball.

so middleton the elite floor spacer makes the point guard play and entire offense look better....and.... adding better talent to our existing cast may force knight into lower usage and a floor spacer himself in order to maintain our success.
i can live with this knowledge.
knight is splendid 3 pt threat and has shown a true willingness to play off the ball when asked..... hes done this while ALSO exclusively guarding the opposing pg whether hes on ball or off offensively.
personally if giannis AND parker turn into guys with 27usg and DESERVE that usage it will mean we have 2 superstars on the team. at that point, the last thing on my mind, is going to be churning at the thought of Brandon knight being underutilized. if that poses a problem for him, on our team with two legit superstars..... we can move him at that time. in the meantime we are in full time talent acquisition mode. and Brandon knight is looking like he might have given us a coup.

I don't see how being a worse 3 point shooter is a positive, especially in an off ball role.
A fair percentage of Knight's usage is turnovers. Given how many of those are the result of being on the ball, as we move him off the ball, just reducing his turnovers from not being the primary ball handler as much will decrease his usage significantly without affecting his production.
I just don't see them as the same player, especially when you factor in age and potential for improvement. Knight right now is better both on the ball and off the ball than bayless, and given how much better he is as a spot up shooter and off the ball, I can't imagine why we'd consider them the same potential long term fit.

If somehow we end up with the "problem" of having too many good players, we can always do what every team does in that situation and stagger one of them to play all the bench minutes like what the Heat would do with Lebron, or the Spurs with Manu. I don't even consider that issue to be one worth talking about at the moment though, a lot will have to go very right for our situation to get to the point where that is something even worth addressing.

exactly. and of course its not a problem. that's unless you want to define what okc had going on with harden as a "problem" that was remedied when they dealt him.
lets all remember this doesnt mean knight even has to come off the bench. you can absolutely have 5 starters with a combined usage of over 100% who still all start the game together. just because you start all your talent it doesn't mean they all sub in and out together as well.
the only problem is if knight wont defer. and that rarely ever happens on teams with strong coaches who win a lot. that's usually a recipe for players wanting to come and decrease their usage to be a part of something greater.

Knight shoots threes better, Bayless can make contested layups. Same caliber dude. Knight has more upside, Bayless won't cost half the price, Bayless has shown he can play a small role.

Pay Knight MLE type money going foward and you can have him as your off the bench guy. Pay him $12 million and you have an albatross because he isn't going to be an 18/5 guy in a good offense.

Re: Lasry: Knight is Going to Be With Milwaukee (Contact Will Get Done)
Knight is not a prototypical point guard. I think most of us can agree on that. However, his numbers for a 23 year old castaway of sorts in that epic Brandon Jennings trade speak volumes about how hard this kid has worked and how much he continues to improve.
His numbers put him in the tier below all-star caliber guards. However, that does not make him a non-valuable piece or a guy you can't make part of your eventual core. His defense has stepped up since last season significantly as well, in fact, this in my opinion is his greatest achievement this year. The only metric of his that has stagnated is his ppg, but his ppg/36 is up. TOV has inc. +.6 however his steals are up .7 and assists are up .5. His 3pt shooting has improved from 33% to over 41%.. that's a solid clip. His ts% is over 55% which is also a solid number.. especially for a guy who takes many high stress shots toward the end of a shot clock.
I am going to make the argument that we do not have a franchise changing PG coming through the door anytime soon. We are clearly going to play ourselves out of the lottery in the near future. We might dip back into it for a season, but no more I'd bet. The chance to draft a high caliber pg will rest of the shoulders of John Hammond.. picking somewhere in the 15-20 area. Can he do it? I wouldn't bet against him getting a guy with similar value as Knight eventually, however, are we going to add a guy much better? Probably not is the answer. Free agency - will we get that guy? Probably not in the next 4-5 years either. We have Brandon Knight for better or for worse over the next 4 years.. i think we need to start getting used to it and support this kid.
He's making improvements for us slowly but surely, and our team is winning, all the while the culture of the Bucks team is something we can be proud of (well.. Sanders excluded, but the team seems to be operating better without him).

Re: Lasry: Knight is Going to Be With Milwaukee (Contact Will Get Done)
4 year contract I'd offer Knight:
4 years, 48 million, but potentially 50 million w/ All-NBA bonuses, All-Star bonuses.
1st year: 10.5 million
2nd year: 11 million
3rd year: 11.5 million
4th year: 12 million
Bonuses: 400,000 for All-NBA. 100,000 for All-Star.
Rising salary to match rise in cap space? Done. Monetary incentive for personal improvement? Included. Don't forget about playoff bonuses either, which are assured to increase with more wins each and every season Bucks go deep in playoffs.
