Some good news for those of you that are hoping that the San Francisco 49ers stick to the power running game.

Re: 49ers new offense could look familiar
"I'm very excited about Geep being our OC," Kaepernick said. "Great person, brilliant guy. And I think he's very open to what the players input is during the game, during the week. And also, open to taking shots down the field and opening up the playbook. So, excited to see what he has in store for us."

It sounds like the offense was not as player-input as they'd like and conservative in deep throws. Probably will see more yards, TDs, and yes, interceptions from Kaepernick this year. Maybe more sacks if he's looking deep longer, but probably not because the oline should be better and less injured (I know it's easy to exaggerate their injuries, too).

His comments doesn't necessarily mean that Roman was not receptive to player input. Praising one person doesn't mean that you're automatically insulting the other.

Going deep with the current WR group? Kapernick can throw up deep passes for grabs like Russell Wilson does and watch these WRs lose those battles

Yeah, I'd need to know the question. It might have been a leading question - for example, "Since he has already worked with you and knows you and the players, do you think he will be receptive to working with you and taking your input..." I kind of jumped the gun by acting like he volunteered that info by himself, but I qualified it by saying that it felt like, as opposed to that it was.

If we're going deep then we need to add some more dynamic receivers through the draft

And Kap will have to work on his touch on the long ball.

I'm hoping Kap is working on some of that stuff now.

You'd certainly hope so.

Re: 49ers new offense could look familiar
I didn't think his deep ball accuracy was bad during 2011 and 2012. He seemed to hit WR's in stride and when he missed it wasn't by much. To me, his accuracy went south last year and just about every throw. I think his mechanics were off last year.

Excellent read. I like the idea of quicker throws. Kaepernick won't be required to make too many reads on those types of plays.

Re: 49ers new offense could look familiar
I'm no expert on offense (I was a DB when I used to play) but I like the sound of this. Utilizing Kap's arm and ability to go long should help stretch the field, especially if we can add one or more WR's with speed in the draft. That then should make it easier for Gore (if he's here) or Hyde to gain yards in the run game, not to mention Kap's ability to rack up yards with his feet.

Deep balls also forces the defensive backs to provide more cushion, which means that the Niners would have plenty of room for those short routes that Logan likes to call on first down.

Very true. Having receivers who can stretch the field opens up the offense so much, both the running game as I mentioned, but also the short/mid passing game.
